I was wondering if there has been any info regarding what exactly an all Primaris chapter has as far as Vehicles. Are they getting only the new vehicles, or are they being equipped with standard Space Marine vehicles? I'm not referring to the Chapters being reinforced, but the new ones that are Primaris only.

Well since Chadmarines are too proud to get into FREAKING LAND RAIDERS, I would say they are all Repulsor or footslogging.

Transport-wise, I'd probably just assume Repulsors or footslogging. But I doubt they wouldn't have access to things like Predators, Vindicators, or the various Storm-flyers. They'd be stupid not to have them in their armoury.

That's what I was thinking, but then if the Primaris are so much larger than standard marines, I imagine they would have a hard time getting into the same vehicles as standard marines.

How would an all primaris chapter work. Sounds like a bad idea in my mind. They would be fresh out of the freezer with no prior experience. Sounds like a bad idea by Guliman.

Well how are there primarus captains already if they are fresh off the freezer.
There would have to be a way to convert old marines into the nu marines.
otherwise they would have to have been doing combat training in secret on mars for 10,000 years.

The same way the Legions would have when they were first created, by evaluating the best potential candidates out of what was available. That plus massive levels of hypnoindoctrination, similar I would imagine to how the Republic suddenly had Clone Commanders able to lead the Clone Army. Indoctrination and training. Even then I believe the first all Primaris Chapters didnt come until later into Guilliman's Crusade, after they would have had some combat experience.

The SM Codex specifically points out Parimaris-only chapters. The Primaris fluff also mentions then being frozen and unfrozen so training is most likely. Cawl would need feedback from each of his changes anyway.

actually according to the space marine codex, they where being orginized into chapters right from the get go. the Fulminators being created in M31 "even as the last battles of the scouring where being fought"

And then put in cold storage. Were they immediatly deployed as a stand alone chapter after being thawed? Or were they marshaled along with everyone else and sent on their own later?
At the very least being organized early means their "batch" would have trained together in what ever simulations they were put through while on ice.

right, still that means they've had plenty of time to find and select those with a talent for command.

Im not arguing that they wouldn't my point in the first place is that with training they had plenty of time. Which would then have been magnified by Combat Experience during the Crusade before cut loose to do their own thing.

Primaris marines have already been active for more than 100 years in the setting.
Plenty of time for outstanding company captains to be upgraded and splintered off.
The question of how many of them are lead by the original primaris marine batch could be interesting too.

Don't they just get out in orbit and float down to the surface accompanied by choirs and sunbeams and stuff?
I'm pretty sure grav-chutes and hemets sealed against vacuum have been mentioned, maybe once they are down there they have to wait for a big bus to get back off again.

The big question for me is the toolbox of all-Primaris chapters. They seem to be lacking in basic weapons for fundamental battlefield roles.
There is an uncomfortable level of handwavium going on, even beyond the normal level of handwavium that made the basic SM chapters functional on a galactic scale.

I dunno. Plasma for all the anti heavy infantry needs
the gatlings on the tanks work well as anti infantry
so do the heavy bolter pistol things that incepors have and the aggressors.
the repulsive is the only source of true anti tank which bums me out a bit
hopefully they will make a standard dev type unit that run around with those gatling cannons or even maybe those las talons.
besides all of that the only real thing they are missing is a true dedicated power weapon squad.

the dreadnought I think can be kitted out for anti-tank duties alright, the plasma cannon can, theoreticly, carve 12 wounds off a target. and the anti-air missiles CAN be used on ground targets for a moderate boost. it's not ideal though no.

Yeah honestly in games workshop's effort to make sure only Intercessors have a direct analogue, they made the rest of the primaris all have weird niche roles that don't really add up to anything resembling combined arms tactics. Bizzarely for a non-tau 40k army, they don't really have close combat specialists. Even if you count Reivers, they are light assault troops with no specialist equipment beyond a big knife.
Also they forgot to release a unit to represent whatever the hell first company primaris do. Gravis troops aren't terminators, the new codex calls them out as being part of normal companies.

A combination of whatever their founding chapter happens to be nice enough to donate to them and whaterver they can convince Mars to send their way.

I don't understand why Reivers don't get chainswords at the very least. That's such an iconic weapon for space marines.

Their knife has same rules as the chainsword. So now my Reivers have chainswords.
In any case, I was really disappointed by the lack of information on primaris-only chapters in the new Codex, I really expected that there would have been more considering how much talk there was about the Ultima Founding before the release.

yeah, hopefull we'll see more in the future. my over all read is GW wants to introduce Primaris Marines but wants to do it in a manner in which doesn't cause mass panic over standard marines going away.I'm expecting the index astartes articles to expand on Primaris Marines
speak of the latest white dwarf came out this weekend with index astartes, what'd it have in it, any intreasting info?

My guess is we will see more next year. This year is going to be pretty full putting out new Codexs and cards in addition to Death Guard and maybe a few things here and there. I'd bet we see a full Primaris Codex at some point with an expanded line of minis
