Xenos will "get their support" "next year" and GW "definitely" won't "continue what they've been doing" supporting basically only power armored factions with approximately 66%-75% of the model releases over the last 3 years.

If it's any consolation, they relatively recently got some new kits (Stormsurge, Ghostkeel, plastic commander and so forth) in their last codex update about a year ago.
But yeah, by the looks of it the Emperor's holy toenails will get new models before any of the Xenos are even considered.

No. There will never be any new models, for anyone. This week has the last releases for any faction. All future resources will be directed towards the production of Space Marine body pillows. Rumour Engine pictures are all parts of the same model, which will release next week.
It will be a Loyalist Space Marine model, despite the tentacles.

Given they seem to be looking at adding new factions and sub factions in particular, I'd expect to see auxiliaries expanded on in the future.
Not until tau have gotten a codex, so next year at the earliest, but it fits what seems to be a trend of expanding on previously stand alone armies with small sub factions or creating smaller allied armies to supplement them, for example tsons and deathguard, GSC for tyranids, deathwatch, talons of the emperor, etc.
That's just a guess though, but it's what I'd expect next for tau.

But please, explain how unrealistic it is to not expect that ratio to change while we're right in the middle of a giant sized re-release of every basic marine box two and a half years after we got our last refresh of the basic marine boxes while the average other faction's basic troop box is sitting around 3rd-4th ed.

Honestly, I would settle for a reworked markerlight table and a codex that fixes a lot of the disaster that Tau is right now. New units would be welcome, but they should fix the mess they've made first.

I think you may have replied to the wrong person. I hate GW's (and ESPECIALLY) FW's Space Marine fetish just as much (or more) than anyone else. I do not expect any releases other than Power Armour for at least this year, and perhaps next year as well. I would not be surprised if the first 10 first codexes follow this schedule.
1. Space Marines
2. Chaos Space Marines
3. Grey Knights
4. Death Guard
5. Blood Angels
6. Dark Angels
7. Space Wolves
8. Thousand Sons
9. Talons Of The Emperor
10. Emperor's Children
(Of course this schedule isn't serious. Maybe.)

On the bright side, the new CEO isn't a huge like their old one was, and their old CEO is now completely out. So maybe we'll actually start to see some Xenos love.

10 codexes are supposed to be out by end of year. I would be a little surprised if some xenos didn't make it in there.
SM, and CSM. Grey Knights and Deathguard. 6 more to go.
I would expect Space Wolves and Tsons to come together.
Death Watch and GSC.
Blood Angles and Nids
That leaves Dark Angles who kind of got half a release with CSM and the fallen so far.

Lady Atia, one of the most accurate rumourmongers, let slip some info on that. She said Tau will get new stuff, but it won't be related to the Empire. This might mean auxiliaries, FSE stuff or soemthing else, but she didn't say anything aside that we'll get new stuff.
When this will come... I don't have the slightest idea.

Huh, that's interesting, it might be the last major release this year or the first of next year possibly, given I only expect one more major 40k release that isn't a codex update after DG.

Her longest ranged rumours have been up to a year in advance. So don't get your hopes up for a quick turn around.
Edit
That would place the maximum estimation of release around the middle of next year or so give or take a month or two.

Which would mean by the time all the expected codices are out, I think. So could be s standalone army with new models, or just a slightly expanded model line for FE.

As much as I want to use 30k Mechanicum in 40k at least there's good reason why it hasn't been released yet.

I'm so hyped. This is a hunch I've had for awhile now. I think we'll see theTau release as well as chaos Tau a month or two later. GW loves its thematic elements and what would be more fitting than Tau getting a dark version of themselves? Almost every other major army has one at this point.

Tau don't have a presence in the wrap though.

Tau don't have a presence in the wrap though.
Your telling me the 4th sphere getting lost in the warp storms for at least a few hundred years is not contact with the warp? I think we're going to see some crazy stuff. Long long ago in a distance age of time there were concepts drawn up of a more piratical and chaos inspired Tau before they became like they are now. Also the lore heavily implies the sector of space the Tau are in was under heavy time warps with time racing ahead very fast for them. So the chaos Tau might well have been in the warp even longer.
It would be cool to have reboxed chaos crisis suits with corrupted melee weapons on them. Deamonic powered fusion blades of death. Tau are natural organisers and intelligent. So of all the chaos factions the Tau are most likely to organise at least if I was to do them. I see them as making very standardised warp technology and deamon weapons on a mass produced scale.
On the flip side they might not be chaos corrupted, but could simply be renegades an rogues and out for themselves Dark Eldar style. This seems more like the original vision of the Tau when they were considered more raidery and chaos inspired.
Or something completely different. However I suspect GW would do a lot of rebox sprues for chaos and or renegade Tau options.

Yeah, I can't say I like the idea of chaos Tau much.... It seems incredibly lazy, to be honest. "Let's take this thing... And add spikes!" If they want to do chaos mechs, they just need to do the dark mechanicus.
One idea that I've seen, and the one that makes the most sense to me, is that it's just GW's excuse to have the Tau pop up in places they shouldn't be.

Don't shoot the messenger now. I'm just saying it's the most lazy thing they could do really and it wouldn't need a massive reworking of the range just new sprues and maybe a new model or three. Honestly my opinion on them can go either way I have to see the lore and models assuming it happens of course. In theory I am against them for now though.
