Since Possessed are gonna get a boost and I've already had a blossoming Word Bearers force going, I was thinking (down the line, I got enough on my plate with my Magna Marines and Deathguards) of making a possessed army. However I want it themed around Possessed, so what would be a good, non-named HQ choice for them as well as support stuff that isn't strictly normal CSM? I'm leaning towards count-as Daemon Engines as maybe either "evolved" Mhara Gal Tainted Dreadnoughts or uber-possessed.

Create your reason for this force existing in the first place. The answer to this question will point you at the appropriate HQ choices.
Maybe apostle? That is my favorite anyways.

A Dark Apostle would be the best choice both mechanically and thematically I think.

I'm kinda sad that the "Possessed upgrade" from the Crimson Slaughter is no longer a thing. I considered the Apostle but he feels like a normal guy hanging with the big boys.

I miss the possessed marines where you can choose your mutation. I converted an entire squad of marines to fly with MoK and chainaxes. I used them over raptor because, WE couldn't take raptors back then.

Give him some mutations, model him as a former possessed himself.

A Daemon Prince for the HQ, Possessed, Daemon Engines.

Dark apostles or sorcerers are also the ones who in lore traditionally bind demons into humans I think, so that might make sense if you want to go conventional.

Daemon prince would work, either as a normal prince or even as a fitting statline ans you use for a converted and particularly impressive looking possessed. The latter might be a bit confusing through.

In the same vein as above, I think my favorite solution would be a mounted chaos lord or sorcerer, just using a possessed model as the rider. It's clear what the unit is and mechanically it counts as a daemon so everything works more or less correctly. If you wanted to get really fancy, go for a hard core conversion and make the mount part of the mutations, most fitting for s juggernaut or steed.

I may do the latter and use a Disc of Tzeentch Sorceror as my HQ choice, modelled as a possessed sorceror with daemonic wings.
