There seemed to be a dedicated following for this game a couple years ago. How's it doing these days? Anyone actually seen a game played in the last year?

yup, played 2 yesterday, its really geographically dependent. It has a dedicated fan base. Its not the next warmahordes or xwing, but it is a very good ruleset and has good minis. I (obviously I am a huge fan) would recommend it to anyone.

I agree, great game and one of my favorites.

Unfortunately it's one of those games that needs new players but people don't play it because not enough other people play it. Which I think is silly.

It seems really lackluster in terms of support and updates from cmon.
Im a fan of the game and can't tell you much about it outside off the kickstarter.
It could be pushed much better.

I'm a big fan of the game. The rules are simple to understand but get pretty complex, the activation mechanics are interesting, the scenarios encourage movement and initiative, and the models are cool.

Just wish CMON would get back into supporting the game. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case - there was apparently nothing at Gencon WoK related. ASoIaF is all the rage at the moment. And it didn't help with the whole stumbling over shipping from China.

Bought it and played it...once I think. Starter boxes are a good deal usually. No one playes it anywhere around here. Not much news for it. Sculpts are hit or miss. Some good, some horrible. rules are so/so. Nothing that really sets it apart IMO

It's ridiculously expensive to get into after the KS. Heck, it's ridiculously expensive just to add the few post-KS units.

Its been pretty much impossible to get any stock outside of the US, which has killed interest in the game over here. I play it with my mate from time to time, but there's no point trying to get anyone else interested as they have zero chance of getting hold of anything of interest beyond the initial starter sets.

After many months without a UK distributor, they finally got one only for the second wave of stuff to sit in their warehouse untouched (allegedly) for even longer. Its a complete clusterfeth

Cheers

Great game. Not many players in Denver. I'm putting together a couple starter armies to teach people in my area through a couple of gaming clubs.

I disagree that it's "ridiculously expensive". They starter boxes can be found online relatively easily for about 20% off retail. Miniatures Market carries a bunch of stuff at 20% off as well. The newer Celestial Host has two large Elephant warriors, two mid sized Panda and Fox warriors plus a leader for 50 dollars USD. That's a pretty sweet deal. The miniatures are generally really good quality sculpts and there's a good variation in sizes.

The game itself runs smooth and is well balanced, from what I've seen so far. CMON doesn't do much to push the sales, which is a shame. Quality game in the hands of people who have no clue what to do with it. I almost wish someone competent would buy the IP and do it justice.

This line of reasoning broke 7th edition in Fantasy. The books should be as equal as possible, even a theoretical "Codex: Squirrels with Crustacean allies" should have a fair chance to beat "Codex: God".

- Cost? FW models cost more? Because Thudd guns are more expensive than Wraithknights and Riptides. Nope, not a good argument. This is an expensive game. We play it knowing that, and also knowing that, realistically, it's cheaper than hookers and blow.
