... And he actually looks pretty good.

Three Free Command Dials. Three. For only 32 points, I suspect that this guy is going to be good.

Vader- Boarding Party, forces your target to discard a commander card.
Intensify ?Batteries?: New fleet command, boosting Firepower?
New keyword on the Gauntlet Fighters.

Am I missing something? This thing costs more than an ISD1, and has shorter-ranged dice and fewer squadrons. Defencive retrofit and torpedoes are nice, but I dislike paying points for the option to upgrade.

This guy I like. With Spinal Armament, you can throw 6 dice at long range, and the Fleet Command slot is nice. No Defensive Retrofit, but that is what Tua is for.

This really seems more appropriate for the other side of the battle of Scariff...

Could be neat. Could be an expensive Noob Trap.

Nice. Long range broadsider, close range front arc. Weird that we don't get the usual spread of cards.

I got into this game at exactly the right time. ;-)

Sure, I had to spend (yipes!) about $500 getting my wife and I a wealth of Rebel and Imperial options, but almost on cue, my favorite Expanded Universe character gets added to the game.

I'm actually sooo new to it that I don't know what's good or not, but even with my basic understanding of the game I can tell Thrawne's ability is insanely good.

Well, looks like I'm getting into Armada now.

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

Unfortunately not. More's the pity.

I'm not sure I like the small broadside the MC-75 brings to the table. It's almost AFMk2-sized... which is not a compliment. I'm guessing we didn't get much about it because they are keeping it as a surprise... but eh...

No Dornean gunship? NO DORNEAN GUNSHIP?? What the hell, FFG, I thought you liked me... Unless there is something funky coming up for the Rebels' side, I see a swing towards the Empire's side of the scale.

Thrawn did, at least Rebels Thrawn did. It had the Chimaera on it in the show, and pretty much everyone that serves on it has a Chimaera Insignia on their shoulders.

New Article talking about Thrawn, which has a couple preview cards as well:

Interesting. The ability to swap fleet commands as needed is pretty nice, especially given that there is no sign of the words "of equal or lesser squad point values". Start with All Fighters Follow Me!, switch to "Intensify Firepower!", then go to "Shields to Maximum" if needed. However, since you are taking an ISD, you aen't going to have a ton of points for other ships.

Getting to change a blank to a hit is an extremely powerful ability. Unlike previous fleet commands, this is one that is useful every turn. Dare I say best fleet command?

Hot damn...

the title is awesome. though it's going to get expensive to get all of the Command cards...

Intensify Firepower is pretty solid. however the timing of the Chimaera title and the IF isn't going to gel sine the Command discard is at the start of combat whilst the IF is at the ship phase, unless i'm missing something?

I think the idea is to use Chimera to have the command card appropriate for what tokens you have at the time.

I'm not sure what you are talking about...

1) Start of Command Phase- Here is where you may discard your Command Card with Chimera.
2) Command Phase- Assign dials to your ships, allow your Raiders/Gozantis to match their dial to your fleet command.
3)Start of Ship Phase- Choose whether to trigger Fleet Command, pay cost. You may also choose to use Thrawn. You do not gain the benefits of Thrawn or your Fleet command at this point.
4) Ship Phase- Individual ships activate, may gain tokens, gain the effects of Thrawn and Fleet Commands.

So, I don't see how they do not work together, unless you mean that you can't gain a token to fuel the command on the same turn you want to use the command.

yeah i have a habit of not explaining things well.

ok now that i have time to type my thoughts

Chimaera discard ability activates at the "Command Phase"
Intensify Firepower ability activates at the "ship Phase" (and the other Fleet Commands as well).

Chimaera asks you to discard the card to change the "Fleet Command" and IF (also with the others) require you to discard the Card or a token. So, you couldn't use and discard your fleet command in the same turn, you would have to use the fleet command and then throw it out the window next turn.

It doesn't really make a difference. Chimera trades cards between ship phases. It simply does it during the command phase instead of the cleanup phase. So all the timing restriction really means is that you can't double-dip on fleet commands.

I'm actually happy I waited to buy an ISD. I hope he comes with the basic ISD ship cards too. This might get me to dip my toe into the Imperial fleet for a while. He's very versatile.

I love it when mechanics get added that are exactly what I asked for.
