So it appears GW has announced the next 3 codexes after Admech.

https://spikeybits.com/2017/08/gw-confirms-next-3-codex-books-40k.html

Xenos are fortunately getting some love. That leaves two books in December.

I didn't think they'd close out the year with BA/DA/Woofs.

Eldar and Tyranids are too intrinsic to the setting to leave out. Surprised that Orks aren't getting a run though, although maybe they're planning an actual miniature release for them (that maybe plastic Buggie we saw?).

I thought 2017 was going to be the year of Space Marines and Space Marine accessories. What will the fandom have to complain about now?

I guess we can always fall back on plastic Sisters.

Any news on new models for Imperial Guard, Eldar and Nids to go with their new codexes?

The nids codex can either be really good or really bad. Really good because the Index rules are just awesome, they even managed to give the Pyrovore of all things a use. Really bad because...well they went three whole editions with Nids with crap rules and somehow managed to nerf the nids from 5th to 6th (when they were already scraping the bottom).

Buttcheeks clenched hard here.

Shadespire is released in October and Necromunda is released in November. I wouldn't expect to see a lot released for any codices in those two months.

weyeah my guess is these guys are gonna be light on new content. on the other hand, none are critically in need of new kits. my guess is the xenos armies that really need some new stuff will likely have a bit longer a wait. (Necrons I predict will be next year and get some anti tank options)

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Hrmmm, maybe they'll take Forgeworld's Warrior Wings mold and make actual conversion kits for Shrikes...

WOuldn't that be nice to come out with the Codex, since Shrikes are wonderful.

The rumours I have seen have Shadespire releasing in the first week of October and Necromunda in the last week of November. That leaves six weeks of releases between. Plenty of time for a few minis.

CE are not in desesperate need of new kits

They barely have no infantry kit in plastic (3) and two of these are older than methuselah

Yeap probably Tau next year with all the talk I've heard. I can wait as long as it's worth it and from the implications it's worth it. Heck I hope it's a new xenos race they are releasing next year. Even if they do that and Tau get nothing I would be happy.

Indeed. The Eldar need plastic aspects, plastic storm Guardians and an Avatar to bring the range up to date.
The regular Guardians and dire avengers are pretty old but the are nice minis which hold up pretty well.
The Tyranids are in pretty good shape with only the lictor/ deathleaper and biovore/pyrovore still in resin.
The guard are badly in need of a new regiment with all the trimmings. The cadians and Catachans do not hold up well at all.
In reality I expect to just see Eldrad alongside the Eldar, nothing for the Nids and maybe something for the guard.

Or as they have no plastic model and the re-do of the Tyranid Warrior kit was one of the more recent Tyranid changes they'll just remove Shrikes from the rules altogether.

-hiss-

But I can see that. It would be disappointing. Shrikes might be the one datasheet we get as 'conversion allowance' like the Dread Knight Grand master and such.

Wow, I was fully expecting Chaos Daemons and Thousand Sons before any Xenos. Not complaining, they went with two factions I wanted to see before the rest.

So no Thousand Sons this year? I wonder if that means that we'll get another kit or something perhaps?

Not necessarily. There are two more codexes coming this year, it is possible Thousand Sons are one of them. I wouldn't be surprised if we see Thousand Sons and Space Wolves in December.

Two more of the 10 2017 releases are yet to be unveiled, I could see a couple side-armies like Thousand Sons sneaking in there.

sad to say, but I don't think we'll ever see plastic aspect warriors (bar dire avengers)

That seems fairly ridiculous. Craftworld and aspect warriors are one of the most popular 40k armies behind well, those other guys.

That they've gone this long without update is baffling, and to continue to do so indefinitely is beyond understanding.

I dunno I think the guardians sprues need a recut and repolish. The tabs on the sides of their heads and mold lines could use a rework. Though I don't think the actual sculpts need to change much. They just need a repolish akin to what the tactical marines received. There have been improvements in plastic casting so I think they could benefit from that. I also like Cadians from an art/design standpoint but the models don't quite live up to the art imo. If they got resculpts keeping the same style but with better proportions and details it could work. I just couldn't imagine 40k without the cadian guard tbh.

could be they're popular eneugh that GW sees "messing with success"?

BTW when I said new stuff I more meant "NEW" not "redone stuff we already have"

my gut feeling is that GW finds more profit in genuinely new stuff rather then redos of old stuff.

It would be a nice surprise to se the CW Eldar get more than a solo Eldrad release with the codex. But I have a feeling that much like the Primaris are for the SM, the Ynnari could be the future focus for the Eldar line.
