Hello guys,

I'm coming over from 40k since i like the models of AoS much more.
Now I'm starting a list with Seraphon, but my GF likes the looks of the goblins and orcs.

I'm in need of abit help of a decent 2000pt list build with these. She likes the greenskins and the grimobs the most, not so much the spiderfang ones.

Does anyone have a decent/fun list laying around?

Thanks in advance,

Telcan

Gitmob grots are strong, and are all about spam by design. I would recommend four pieces of artillery for sure, probably two bolt throwers and two catapults. Because the massive unit discount exists you'll want several 60-man units of basic gitmob grots, one with spear&shield to go up front with inspiring presence and the others with bows to sit behind and shoot. The gitmob shaman you will also want at least one of since his spell is really good. Having a few skulkers around is good for tactical purposes but I wouldn't invest too heavily in them.

to build on Musketeer:

cheap grots in large numbers make a decent meatshield, and when buffed by sneaky stabbin they become an unholy terror for, ooh, any army in the game who rely on melee combat and decent save values (4+ or lower).

duplicate artillery is a sound investment, if you can get the pieces for cheap moneywise. I myself would look into Doom Diver catapults due to the chance of randomly hitting other enemy units each time you miss.

Some people seem to forget the Goblin Big Boss from the compendium still has the Gitmob keyword, and has a useful command ability for the little Short Green Guys, but it sounds like your person also wants to field some orcs as well so maybe double check what they want to field. either way the cheap gobbos fill out your line requirements so you can start looking at what elites, heroes, or wyverns you want to field.

If we're talking sheer hilarity you can't go far wrong with a Rogue Idol. good luck getting one cheap (cash or points = top dollar), but the rules and damage output make it a fantastic secret weapon/centerpiece/Distraction Carnifex.
Alternatively Orc chariots - single model units - can play on enemy target priority while also giving you units that will not fail Battleshock tests. wolf riders are a faster idea that let you screen the advance with 4+ saves that can outrun/annoyingly poke most hero units in the game, just don't expect them to make their points back.

Pretty much in agreement about the skulkers: either take loads of them or not at all.

Might see if I can draft up a list on my end as an example, something I'm using for a narrative campaign right now...

Thanks, would be great. She basicly likes all of the green little beings. Even Moonclan grots can be in the list as they just look as silly as the others. She likes those Squigs too heh.

Always take fanatics in minimum units; their point is to block enemy charges, not actually do anything in combat. Also, never take Moonclan Grots with bows unless you want Moonclan allegiance; their bonus to wound rolls based on unit size only applies in the combat phase. Gitmob grots, on the other hand, get their size-scaling bonus at range as well as in melee.

Any idea on a list I could look at? I'm totally lost on this...

I can whip up a sample list, 2000 points right? What models are available and how competitive do you want it to be?

@Telcan your current list is about 1800 points, so you have some room for more squigs or some handlers to buff them (just use some regular spear/musician goblins without shields).

The list I pulled for narrative play a month ago was a lot more diverse. As in, command abilities other than Inspiring Presence didn't matter so much because the General was with a particular bus-of-pointy-things and I needed to get my money's worth from them.

HQ
Orruk Warboss: sword and board general (leading the charge)
Moonclan warboss: 2--handed weapon (second in command, in charge of holding the line)
Moonclan shaman:support/throwing arcane bolts at gates houses

Skirmishers
2x20 moonclan spearmen, full command on both
20 vanilla goblin spearmen, boss and banner
60 moonclan archers (full command with both banners)
10 spider riders
10 wolf riders

Hammer
20 orruks with paired weapons, full command
20 orruk archers, boss only (not enough bitz and boyz to make a full command group, yet)
10 Ardboys

Secret Weapons
boar chariot
2 rock lobbers
Bully (because I was playing with the legacy warscrolls)

Comes to a grand total of around 2300 points across a number of different factions (down from 2500). Hero phases will be rough, owing to having a general whose signature buffs only affect their own factions, but I made this more for flavor and fun (and pre-general's handbook siege warfare. We had towers and rams and everything!)

As Ninth did say though, what does your collection look like at the moment? what cool odds and ends have/would you like to pull together?

I don't have any models yet, so from that point of view, I can go wathever.

List should be around 2000points, and be semi-competitive.

Main goal is to take the funny looking models and still have some fun with em winning a few battles.

Thanks already guys. I literally have no clue yet how to make the lists yet. The ally system is still new and didnt have the time yet to look up how it actually works.

Sorry for the delay!

Here's a grot-focused list using Destruction allegiance:

(General) Orruk Megaboss - 140
-Command Trait: Bellowing Tyrant
-Artifact: Battered Talisman
This may initially seem as an odd choice to lead a grot army, but hear me out. He's a very resilient hero thanks to a strong armor save, a 'save' against mortal wounds from the artifact, and the ability to get extra wounds by killing enemy heroes. Because of his durability he can stand next to your front line grot units without worrying about dying too easily, and his bravery 8 is very useful with bellowing tyrant to use on units like squigs that are normally bravery 3! If you fancy an all-grot army, you can use the below option instead:

(alternate General) Grot Warboss on Squig - 120
-Moon Cutta & Git Shield
-Command Trait: Bellowing Tyrant
-Artifact: Battered Talisman
With 6 wounds and a re-rollable armor save this guy is among the more resilient of grot heroes. Don't let hit combat-oriented profile fool you though; as the general you need him around to use inspiring presence and bellowing tyrant to boost your army's resilience against battleshock so keep him protected (ideally in cover) since he will get ganged up on in combat.

(Battleline) Moonclan Grots x60 - 360
-Pokin' Spears & Moon Shields
-Boss with Barbed Net
-Grot Flag bearer with Barbed Net
-Bad Moon Icon bearer with Barbed Net
-Gong Basher with Barbed Net
-5 regular grots with Barbed Nets
This is the front line of the army, they'll want to be spread out in front of other models so that they take the charge fist. They should have inspiring presence, and the hit penalty provided by nets will make them an effective tarpit.

(Battleline) Moonclan Grots x60 - 360
-Pokin' Spears & Moon Shields
-Boss with Barbed Net
-Grot Flag bearer with Barbed Net
-Bad Moon Icon bearer with Barbed Net
-Gong Basher with Barbed Net
-5 regular grots with Barbed Nets
The second unit is the same as the first, but should be positioned slightly further back since they won't have inspiring presence. When the front unit gets killed off put inspiring presence on this unit so that they can take over as the front line. In the meantime they are a good target for bellowing tyrant if the squigs don't need it.

(Battleline) Gitmob Grots x60 - 270
-Grot Bows & Slashas
-Boss
-Flag Waver
-Hornblower
Protect these guys by putting them behind the moonclan grots.

Moonclan Grot Shaman - 80
Gitmob Grot Shaman - 80
These two heroes are magical support, each has a useful spell on their warscroll that can make them game-changers if they get it off at the right time. Obviously very squishy so they should stay behind other units, and even then they will probably die over the course of a game if the enemy has even half-decent shooting/magic.

Cave Squigs x15 - 180
This is a powerful close-combat unit but also one that is rather vulnerable to battleshock. To mitigate this keep them behind your moonclan grots so they can counter-charge enemies that get stuck in combat. The larger unit size means not all of them will get to attack at the same time but means the back side of the unit can string out in a line to keep them within 5" of herders. If you need to save points you can reduce this to a 10-squig unit.

Grot Squig Herders x2 - 20
Grot Squig Herders x2 - 20
These guys just run behind the squigs to buff them, two separate units means they can't all die to the same attack.

Mangler Squigs - 240
Mangler Squigs are a glass cannon. They can do a ton of damage but crumble quickly if attacked themselves. You can either keep them back behind your front line to counter-charge or put them on a flank to throw forward in a suicide charge early on. Against an enemy who has a lot of shooting they will probably die before reaching combat, but that's OK since it means your other squishy units like wizards and squigs survive that much longer.

Spear Chukka - 120
Spear Chukka - 120
Use these to snipe enemy characters. You'll want to keep these next to each other since they receive a bonus for doing so. If you fancy spending a bit of extra money you can swap them out for forge world Squig Gobbas instead, be sure to use their updated rules.
