Say tactical squad 2 (10 marines) is getting transported by Razorback, where would the four remaining Marines that don't fit go?
Would they get placed in another squad for the time being? Would they still retain their squad number?
What if tactical squad 2 would get split 50/50, and both get transported in a Razorback. Would the squad number stay the same even though the squad is not together?

Of course it will. That is a strange question. Just like a company doesn't suddenly become an entirely different chapter if it is away from the rest of the chapter, so a squad doesn't suddenly become an entirely different squad just because some of its members are away. A squad can split up to do multiple tasks at once while still remaining the same squad.

As a slightly related note, when a squad is broken up in to two combat squads it isn't unusual for the most veteran squad member take charge of the second combat squad. In some chapters this rank is displayed with a shoulder pad trim/field similar to a normal sergeant/ squad leader

The way I build my squads with a corporal unit in it. It looks like the sergeant but not as pronounced. This way when the squad is fielded as a 10 man unit it's clear who is in charge, but if I need to split them into 2 5 man units, then each unit has a distinct leader of the squad.

In the US Army it is called a "Fire Team"
It has a Fire Team Leader (Usually a CPL or SGT), the Squad Leader (Usually a SSG) goes with the Fire Team that will performing the most important action or actions on the objective.
So it would be 2nd Squad, Alpha Team and Bravo Team

Many years ago in the early days of 40k they released some tank riding marines to go with the first edition Rhino kit where you got three tanks in a box for a tenner! It would be cool if they did an updated equivalent so you could have the extra four marines clinging on to the sides of the razorback firing their weapons one handed...
I wonder if there are third party equivalents out there, will have to look!
