Ok, I have read the rulebook and the three army books because of this. Pretty nice universe, but as I was looking for clues I instantly realized what Therians where when
Spoiler:
they talked how the Trauma changed the days and years in Ava
So I'm curious, but also lazy. What was the big revel?
Spoiler:
Well, the story takes place in a similar-yet-different universe, with humanity forming on a planet named Ava. Only, it turns out it isn't a different universe. The Therians are the posthuman descendants of humanity, millions of years into the future, and they seed human life on fertile worlds, like Ava, for nefarious purposes. The uplifted gorillas known as Karmans were one of their earlier projects, considered unsuccessful because they formed a stable, more or less peaceful society. Something also went wrong with the humans on Ava, who have somehow not wiped themselves out through rampant industrialized warfare, so now the Therians are getting more directly involved.

Paolo Parente was the designer of both game systems and imagery. As I recall, he originally pitched AT-43 to Rackham as "Alternate Timeline 1943" which was, essentially Dust. Rackham was sold on the idea, agreements were made and development and production began. But Rackham wanted a more Sci Fi version (as a counterpoint to their Confrontation fantasy system) and, while at the time Paolo was willing to go along with them, they eventually had a falling out due to the usual "creative differences". Contractually, Paolo couldn't take his toys with him as he left the playground so he went back to his original alternate WW2 ideas, retooled and rebranded them as Dust and brought them to market under the studio he created.

Therians, or us, have transferred our consciousnesses to the internet, basically, millions of years ago. All the physical stuff, like golems, etc, are nanomachine creations. The overwhelming majority of Therians don't even know or care about Ava, they're just sitting around talking about stuff on forums and living virtual reality lives. Only a handful who like to play videogames do - they are basically playing an RTS against races in real life, with the Therian overseers being the Therians actually controlling the Overseer body directly, their consciousness wifi'ed into the body from a node. Since Therians are immortal, the only thing they fear now is the eventual end of the universe. This is why giant dyson's spheres are created, such as Damocles. They put all of a solar system's matter into a giant dyson's sphere around the system's star and then use it's energy to control it's movement. Their plan is to keep the universe from expanding from the big bang, or contracting into the big crunch, so that they remain immortal forever, and the universe never ends. The BIG CRAZY THING that happened during the Operation Damocles campaign, when the Damocles planet-ship thing was on it's way to Ava to harvest it's matter, is that the combined forced of UNA and Red Blok invaded Damocles, captured an overseer, and cut off the Therian node (basically a big wifi thing that transport their consciousness), basically capturing an actual Therian in a physical body. That made the Therians take notice, because, whoa, they're supposed to be immortal.

This is interesting news, I bought some minatures back in the day but never got arround collecting sizeable army, when I was old enough to understand the rules a bit, Rackham had just gone bankrupt. I definently hope something comes out of this, the AT-43 backstory and setting is in my view too interesting to just let if vanish into oblivion.
Oh man, I adored AT-43. My first miniatures game. I got in at the end and had to sell it off because RE went defunct before my friends could get in and I could get playable forces for most of the armies.
As a late entrant, I had a boatload of Cogs and smatterings of the other armies. If this comes back my wallet will pay dearly.
To whoever buys it, the Oni need a nerfing!

I never really played the game much beyond the starter set but that is an awesome bit of background.

IP is great hope someone with financial muscles picks it up. To bad about the moulds though.. Easily the best prepainted plastic containers i've ever seen.
It is too late for anything. They should have sold it right away. Now, I don't think anything will care. Previously, it was an excellent concept. Even the regular soldiers were nicely pre-painted and better than 90% of what you sees on table top. Beside, the vehicles were unmatched by any of these sarcastic but not talented painters.
I think the IP is fairly valuable. There are a good number of people who remember the factions and background fondly. This is one of the trickiest parts of launching a game.
Plus, the minis were designed to be sold as prepaints, meaning the designs and color schemes are intentionally simple but still look great (which they do). That means as kits, as opposed to pre-assembled, pre-painted minis, they will be fairly easy to get ready for table top.
The real trick is finding matching this IP to a competent publisher.

The Therian vehicles are pretty basic as far as paintjobs go, but the UNA, Red Blok, and Karman vehicles are amazing, and frankly better than a good portion of gamer painted vehicles, needing with a tiny bit of extra detailing like chipped paint, etc.. Especially all the 'decals'.

They did, and then Cyanide held onto them for 4 years doing nothing.
Welp, some no name shlub company has apparently bought the rights. Well, looks like AT-43 is gone. https://www.facebook.com/labmasu/posts/1788037111255434 No video game, no high quality board game... it'll be some plain ugly minis and mdf terrain.
My brother just said, "Well if I had known the At43 ip was only $50 I would have bought it"

Our plan is made all new range no plastic at the moment and no prepainted
so pretty much not AT-43 then, but I guess we knew the old moulds were gone so only the background will carry on in some fashion (probably tweeked so those with minis really need to replace them)
Not only was the fluff really good, and unique, I think the various vehicles will be some of the great losses to wargaming. Some of them may have been weird, like the design of the Fire Toads, but boy were the prepaints friggin' beautiful, especially on the UNA striders. I was astounded to see vehicles priced lower than a 40K dreadnought, even back then, with paintjobs, especially the decals, better than anything most tabletops would see from other games.
And all the prepaints for AT43 and Confrontation let me buy to my hearts content, because other than adding/clarifying details, I had all my otherwise spoken-for painting time open for terrain construction.

We don't know that. The announcement was today. If it was a couple of years ao and we heard zip since then yeah. However as it happens we now know AT-43 has a potential buyer, they may or may not hav a deal. They may or may not have the money to use it. While it looks like a handful of enthusiasts has bought the rights posts of this nature from unknown sites are often a front or something else. AT-43 has marketable digital products IP to sub-license, and we don't know how big the pocket books are behind that little anonymous Facebook feed is.
There are lots of options open, they could pull a Mantic and do most of it in a giant Kickstarter, they need not go with PPP. I would buy AT-43 kits for some factions at least. The balance needs attention but the core rules are simple and solid.

AT-43 is superior in literally every aspect to Medge. The fluff wouldn't fit. Medge is a tryhard heartbreaker 40k clone, AT-43 is much elevated.

If it's true then that's pretty sad. So they consider AT-43 the "best sci-fi game they ever played" and desperately want to bring it back...but they're not going to. All new sculpts (which won't match the aesthetics of the originals apparently as "tons of legal agreements are needed to do it as it was"), no plastic, no pre-paints, no guarantee that the original miniatures will even still be valid/supported in their new game system, and with their allegedly being legal issues with matching the aesthetics of the original game I imagine maybe even the background would need to go through major changes or revisions...so by the sound of things it's not going to be the same game at all and will be AT-43 in name only. Assuming they can even still call it AT-43, anyway...
Why even bother? Just make your own sci-fi IP then if you don't have the capacity to bring it back "proper". Or is their hope that people will get nostalgic or buy into their game just because it says AT-43 on it?

Also IIRC...
Spoiler:
The Therians play VR simulations of planets and societies and only travel to a solar system when they're confident that the population has mostly wiped each other out as well as doing massive amounts of industrial mining - which makes it easier for them to crack the planet apart and process the material. Also I think there's some mention that they hints of advanced technology around so the humans develop the high-end engines and weapons faster. The Therian in charge of analyzing Ava basically made a mistake and they arrived too soon while the human armies were still powerful.

Yes, because the tech devices they seed the planets with become activated when Therians come to roost, which adjust the spin/rotation of the planet. Which is the "Trauma" on Ava that AT stands for

If whoever buys the IP cannot even use the existing faction and unit design concepts then I am hard pressed to see the value of the IP. The "empty" brand can't be that valuable.

I am hoping there is an issue with the language barrier here as it's absurd that they cannot use the same aesthetic system and designs of the original game otherwise they have just brought a brand name that has been dead for a decade.

If they own the rights then they can create a straight ripoff of the universe and not get sued. Make the necessary adjustments and start from point B instead of from scratch. The systems been gone long enough to be forgotten by most, and the ones who did enjoy it/ remember it, can start all over and help generate some hype. It but AT47 might happen.

The concepts in AT-43 are generic enough to be ripped off without credible threat of a realized legal liability. What would be worth money would be the art.
