The way the WG sprues are set up it’s going to be able to build both. Parts for both shooty/choppy are mixed up on the sprues.

I'm not that familiar with Star Wars, I knew they had two-legged walkers, assumed that's at least part of where GW got the inspiration...
Guess I was wrong.

You're going to be able to build Wraithblades out of those. The parts for both come on the same sprues.

Personally, I saw the Eldar War Walker closer to Macross' Zentraedi battle pods, honestly.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

It's certainly more bulbous, and thus more Eldar. The basic layout is fairly similar between that, the War Walker and the Star Wars two-legged walkers though.

Star Wars AT-ST:

Imperial Sentinel:

I wish the war walker looked more like the AT-ST... my problem with it is the weird wait they strap their member of a near-extinct race to the front of it behind a small glass window, instead of... y'know, inside it. Behind some armour.
Sure, maybe that window is meant to be a special shield... but it only covers about 30% of the guy behind it.

Niiru, the current Wraithguard plastic kit includes all of the weapon options - and thus would be included here.

EDIT: The War Walker used to make sense actually...the reason the guy hangs out the front end is that it originally had a "power field", or a 2+ invulnerable save. So, perfectly logical (and rather Eldar). The new one doesn't have anywhere near that protection. I've used some Robotech bits to change mine up.

Haha thanks, a few of you have mentioned about wraiths now, and it's made me more likely to pick up one of these sets when they come out. Maybe two!

I'd love to see your war walker. I've spent literally hours on google images looking for decent conversions, but all i've seen are the normal models. Not found any conversions at all, other than one or two Exodite ones using dinosaurs.

I feel you on the War Walkers...I'm on version three of my own...after hating the plastic one (waaaaay too bulky for a war walk) and being fed up with metal ones (I had four!). This is my Zentraedi mixed war walker...and I don't even like it that much, but I'm tired of trying to come up with a solution. Maybe some day I'll try a version four!

When you have an Avatar from 1993...and GW releases plastic Eldar which include a new fancy special Avatar in 2017, you know damn well you're not going to get anything replaced.

The real salt in the wound is that GW did release a plastic Avatar of Khaine....as decoration on the ridiculously expensive Cauldron of Blood. Moreover it looks more like a Dark Eldar avatar than a craftworld one (spikey and sharp rather than sleek and smooth). I think the Avatar is now tied with Abaddon and Bile as the oldest models in the range.

The bulk of the Phoenix Lords date to 2nd edition.

Nope. Drazhar is not confirmed to be a Phoenix Lord and only dates back to around 5th edition.

I meant the model. It's in a similar style (with the chewable vitamins swords) to the phoenix lords so I assumed it dates back to then. I know the model itself certainly dates to before the 5th ed codex but I don't know exactly how long ago it was made (I had forgotten DE existed until the 5th ed update).

You like it? I wasn't totally sure one way or another, but mostly because of not knowing the exact sizes relative to each other. That photoshop was just ranom images, I dont know if the turret is really too big or small.

I already have a spare falcon turret, so if/when that collection box comes out I may get it and have a bash!

As a mash-up it looks good, of course you'd need to get the measurements right to form an accurate image of what it'd look like.
That may be quite easy actually, given that the same clear canopy is used for both models

Then you'd need to think about how they're going to be connected, too...

EDIT: If you decide to have a go at it, I'd love to see it!

Yeh, the connection would be tricky, though I have some greenstuff and it should be possible to connect it in a similar way as the war walker normal "body" part is connected... I'd need to model in hand to figure it out though. I'll be sure to post it on dakka as and when I get around to it haha

I'm almost certain it's GW themselves that "leak" these images. They are always cropped just enough to be vague and quite often blurry.

Astraeus Super-Heavy Tank

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Spoiler:

What happens when you cross a Sicaran, a Repulsor and a Fellblade? Meet the Astraeus Super-heavy tank.

Just as the Primaris Space Marines themselves blend the best elements of several millennia of Space Marines, the Astraeus Super-heavy Tank represents the pinnacle of Imperial engineering, a devastating war machine that makes the perfect accompaniment to your Space Marine army.

An enormous hull mounts a devastating range of defensive and offensive systems. The main weapons of the Astraeus Super-heavy tank are a pair of macro-accelerator cannons, coupled with sponson-mounted las-rippers or plasma eradicators. The macro-accelerator cannons are particularly powerful, firing 12 shots with -2 AP and 3 Damage apiece!

Meanwhile, layered void shields protect this vehicle against even the most dedicated attacks, including Mortal Wounds, while the enhanced repulsor field is a powerful deterrent to enemy assault units – firstly, reducing their charge ranges, and secondly, literally crushing them with waves of gravitic force when they get close!

Unlike its little brother, the Astraeus Super-heavy Tank doesn’t have any transport capacity – instead, this colossal machine is dedicated to destruction alone. While there are few targets that can stand up to one of the Astraeus Super-heavy Tank’s furious fusillades, it particularly excels at shooting down Flyers. With the Steel Behemoth rule and Power of the Machine Spirit, this war machine can fire on the move, or even when locked in close combat, making it a surprisingly flexible and mobile unit for its size.

It’s not just a triumph of engineering in the lore of the 41st Millennium, either – this is one of the most advanced Forge World kits we’ve ever released. Every single gun (right down to the tiny storm bolter mounted on the vehicle’s rear!) can be moved and repositioned, while there are even options for which sponson weapons you can attach to the vehicle. Additionally, the Astraeus kit features a custom transparent flying stand designed to support the weight of this model while keeping it absolutely secure.

From a collector’s standpoint, if you’re looking for an army of exclusively Primaris Space Marines, the Astraeus makes for a fantastic centrepiece model, equivalent to other iconic Space Marine vehicles like the Thunderhawk.

You won’t have to wait long to pick up this massive war machine for yourself, with the Astraeus Super-heavy Tank – alongside free downloadable rules – available to buy soon. In the meantime, if you’re looking for even more Forge World models to add to your Space Marine army, why not pick up Imperial Armour – Index: Forces of the Adeptus Astartes?

Yup. Just read this release on facebook. I had hoped it was a kitbash, but it's an actual release. Yet another imperial release. I'm going to start a campaign, try and get every single Xenos player to carpet GW and FW with complaints about this constant Imperium release schedule. If only because I'm so bored of it that I require a completely new hobby, and annoying customer service staff is better than playing warhammer imperium 40k heresy

Allegedly, this year is supposed to be the year of imperium - they're supposed to be finished with imperium codexes this year, and next year is the year of xenos.

Again, supposedly.

Yeh, we shall see. Problem is that Eldar and Tyranids are being released this year, so probably no model updates for them. Tyranids aren't too bad off but Eldar are straining for models that are less than 20 years old. Does leave Orks in a position for a decent update though, and they really do deserve one.

I'm just suspecting there will be more Primaris releases, followed by new sisters, followed by Inquisitor/Assassins/Ministorium, followed by plastic sculpts for IG legions, etc etc etc
