I keep wondering if they would consider doing some wyrms/ wyverns, something akin to the giant dragon, but at a more tabletop friendly size.

Similar monster, still related to the myths and legends of the time, but in a much more compact size (and price hopefully).

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Man... the minis look good, but holy hell does the game bloat continue. This adds ANOTHER card game, that has to be played as a layer, atop the miniatures game, the RPG game, and the euro-resource game. :-p

Ambitious... to say the least.

Just treat it like a buffet and take the bits you want. No need to have the RPG or the Siege mini-game if you don't want them

Does anyone remember how tall the old Mighty Fortress was from GW. We used to use it back in the day to play Warhammer Siege and it doesn't seem like it was noticeably bigger than this is.

The expanded polystyrene one?

I'm guessing (if 25 year memory serves!) that the towers were around 10" tall and the walls were 6-7" tall.

Of course, my memories may be suffering from Curly-Wurly syndrome!

Just thinking back to last night's Leo Live and the shots of the dragon lunging over the castle walls - it was like all my childhood dreams come true! I'm trying to be a bit more tactical with my addons than I was with MBP, but I don't think that I can avoid the Dragon and Siege expansions.

Siege adds something I've always wanted to do I'm considering going all in on this equally 15mm metals aren't all that expensive so I'm considering using this as an excuse to buy into the scale and add other ranges metals to provide variety.

I agree - I'm backing this heavily, hoping that economies of scale and their experience working on Mythic Pantheon (although not on their own) previously helps, but I get a little worried with all they're shooting for! I think it's worth backing for the crazy value, but due to the ambition it does feel a little riskier than many other things I've backed.

Also as highlord said, I'd love to see some smaller monsters - the Dragon is sweet, but some little wyverns would be killer and much more useable in game!

Leo showed off a print of the Tarasque mini on the live today, which is a 'smaller' monster, though still bigger than a house lol.

The Ars Nova add-on has had a new investigative scenario added to it, as well having the suspects doubled from 8 to 16. Also, tomorrow's add-on will be the compendium.

I'm tentatively in. Sounds like a fun game, but I'm limiting myself to just the core for now; I'd like to buy all the add-ons, but I don't think I can convince the wife that I need to spend all that much.

I might squeeze Ars Nova in, that sounds like a neat little extra bit. Plus Connery Monk is pretty awesome.

You'll have another chance to get add-ons when the PM opens so can spread the cost that way. It is worth getting the Maiden pledge during the campaign because that's the only way you get Gog and Magog.

Also they may have an "All In" pledge level at a discount as well.....

The bundle deals have been revealed. There's four in total. All-in, all the gameplay, historical, and fantasy.

So, $540 to get "everything"?

I wonder what "everything" will end up being, once the last 4 expansions are revealed..

The bottom two unannounced expanions seem relatively small (left appears to be flags and right book with perhaps the often requested play mat). Hopefully the other two have a bit more too them.

One of them will be the RPG. They had one for Mythic Battles and they've said JoA will have one as well. They've also discussed a 'Pimp My Box' add-on which will upgrade the components. I reckon those two will be the ones in the Legendary bundle that won't appear in any of the others. That suggests there's one gameplay add-on which is fantasy-focused, and one which is generic that are still to come.

Actuallly one of the extra add-ons appears in both. I'm seriously considering the full gameplay set at the moment.

Has anyone tried playing with the filters to see if the darkened pictures are actually shown?

I may go in pretty deep. I kind of regret not going bigger on Mythic Battles, but then again I didn't really miss too much in the way of exclusives, and hopefully the expansions can be acquired online somewhere down the line.

Oh wait - are Mythic Battles expansions not easily available? I'd planned on getting two of the core boxes here (to get double stretch goals) but waiting on expansions. Maybe I'll need to add something in the pledge manager...

Really, they should make an add-on with extras of the KS exclusive sculpts from the stretch goals. I'd likely add that instantly!

I wonder if there will be a Tabletop Miniatures Wargames ruleset for this, for playing the game off the grid.

Just imagine if players could choose to play this like Warhammer Fantasy Battles used to be, except in 15mm with amazing scenery.... How many Siege sets could they sell to make a really awesome Castle? How about players fielding multiple Dragons? Yeah, that's how they make the real money!

I'm half tempted to throw a buck in, just to suggest this to them. But then, I'm afraid that people would get mad because they'd "need" to pledge for even more stuff!

Well that's my gaming group's plan anyway . Although I plan to try their open battle system, too! Are you just suggesting one that doesn't use their tiles? I'm quite interested in trying it out with the tiles, otherwise we might play Kings of War but at a reasonable size

Yes. Place terrain, etc. on a 4'x6' battlefield, just like WFB, but with miniatures that are more scale with the terrain.

The problem with Kings of War is the notion that you'd use Mantic models.

Main problem is that these high-end games are just plain expensive, so don't move as quickly as, say, Magic or Star Wars Destiny. So a retailer is more likely to carry a less expensive game line they know will sell. Our FLGS has had Conan at 30% off for months.

Unlike miniature games, non-miniature boardgames don't sell and therefore don't have many expansions. Boardgames with miniatures have more expansions, but I'm not clear how many expansions a FLGS will carry. Again, an additional copy of a base game might sell faster than copies of different expansions.

What makes these types of games great for KS makes them poor for retail. The company sell direct in bulk and it allows them to offer loads of product to anyone willing to spend a bit of cash. By the time it hits retail it's gone through two-to-three mark-ups in price and so would be far too expensive to sell in its KS form. For Joan of Arc it looks like a stripped down version of the core box will go to retail, then anything after that depends on if retailers want it and distributors will carry. For projects like this it's always best to assume the KS and pledge manager will be your only chance to get it, unless it's an established company with a track record of taking KS product to retail, such as CMON. Even then, you're missing a load of KSE stuff with them.

Not all KS do exclusives. CMoN's Zombicide, the granddaddy of exclusives, plays best without any exclusives.
