I think that may have outdone all of your Primarch models . The reds really glow against the black armor. Whoever you painted that for is super lucky .

Having not really followed the storyline of 40k since the primaris invasion, what happened to Abbie’s pet dragon thing?

Really nice warmth you achieved by avoiding blue on Drach'nyen and amping up the orange throughout. A positively autumnal Abby!

More stuff today all finished up! I was asked to paint a converted scout biker squad for a Blood Ravens army, they used the new GSC bikes and they actually work rather well together, poses are slightly harder to line up with hands but i'd say it's a success and looks very scouty

And I finished a test model for my own Kroot I had thoughts of how they would look, work and interact with my Jungle Tau and decided that they would adapt using the dna from the planets creatures they have ingested to mimic the colour shifts and skin adaptations for camouflage, hence they were painted with different primers overlapping each other giving me a chance to give them a very colourful alien vibe! I still wanted them to look good and nasty in a fight too.

And here's my Kroot

Bikes and ATVs look ace! Very appropriate for rough terrain. You made the conversions nice and smooth to fit the scout bikers on there. Looks very natural.

The old mind is whirling. what do I do after my Tau?

I have a couple of ideas and i'm torn between them.

Horus Heresy force because it lets me have my proper normal space marines again!

Blood Angels or Iron Warriors?

Necromunda: I have always wanted to build a gang but I am not sure which one, I'm keen on Cawdor as long as I can swap heads onto them and I was waiting for Arbites but the new models have Primaris helmets and have totally put me off

anyway, that's all I wanted to say today before it left my head

I think your style would really suit Necro, especially any gang that can make good use of those lovely grungy reds and yellows you perfected on the Griffons. Escher would be a good pick for that scheme (and are great minis, a fair bit more customisation than some of the later ones), likewise Cawdor's chequered cloth patterns would look great in those colours.

I think the new Enforcers would probably look a lot more traditional with some headswaps for, say, Skitarii Vangard or Tempestus Scion helmets. I used Vanguard helms on my own converted Arbites team and they worked a treat.

Either of the Heresy Era guys you listed would be great. I have had both armies in the past, with Blood Angels stuff just released from Forge World I think you could make a lovely army of them. Though your Iron Warriors I think would be beautiful as well since they have big stumpy robots and vehicles everywhere, plus you can grime them up all you want from trench work.

There’s been so much redesign with Necromunda that I haven’t even bothered getting a set of any of it yet . I’m not a fan of The Delaque, but most of the others are good enough for me, though I’m waiting for Spyrers. I think the Enforcers would look better with another paint scheme, I think the masks fit as an almost tactical paintball mask style.

Anyway, i'm here again with ANOTHER big ass robot! I got to do a Storm surge named Sergio that has arms, yes ARMS! printed ones and they make it soooooo much better looking, I also had the fun of adding a dread to the base, sadly I had no Nurgle rot and had to use paint to make the green until my guy I painted it for can whack some on maybe? I think I've actually painted all the Tau big bots now from the Tuna supreme to the riptide and FW variants

here he is! hope you like!

That is a suitably epic base for this imposing beast of a robot. Nice work!

I'd love to see you work on Necromunda models. The new Arbites are indeed in need of some head swaps but I think you're more than up for the task. I personally really like the Delaque, Cador, and Orlock models.

Utterly stunning work on the Warmaster though, mate. One of the nicest i've seen, without a doubt.
How much work was needed to convert those scouts on the Jackal bikes? They're not bad looking!

With your kroot, Lovely blue and all, but it looks like you've got a big splotch of black wash on his jaw. Unless of course that was deliberate.

Thanks guys, I've just finished some of my own Tau as well but no pics yet, plus some wip on my Ghostkeel and xv8 commander! i'll try and whip some pics up on the morrow!

I am pestering the owner of the multi tau to send me a pic of all the big guys together to show you. he's sending me a hammerhead next I think to paint for him. I am also getting some more grey Nurgle bloat drones to do and some more Primaris Ultramarines.

The arms really make it better as well as the cover for the cockpit and the sad thing is that was a legit dread i've still got the one I painted years ago on the shelf!

Amazing work all around, and so much variety in the models! I love the color palette on Abaddon, and the converted scout bikes are a pretty cool idea. Some of the poses look a bit stiff, but that's to be expected with the old sculpts. The overall look of the squad works really well though.

I couldn't do it. I was SO close to having a finished army but the sirens call of the space marine dragged me back and I sold the Tau. but how could I space marine and avoid all the Primaris only one way! and that was to re group, re focus and look deeper into that which is pure! and start 30K yes Horus Heresy will enable me to collect and lavish love on those normal marines I hold so dear.

So yeah, I think i'll start up a new blog again to organise myself and keep the project there and see if it interests any other nerds

So, what chapter? I have started already working on a squad and a vehicle. Originally I was going with Blood Angels since I love the look of red on marines and so much fancy details would look stunning, but I know it would take me a long time to finish to a standard I would be happy with and the chances of losing interest are high. Imperial Fists? maybe, my yellows look rich and they were a large part of the story but no, not them.

I have gone against my normal thought process as i'm always been attracted to the good guys, and I wanted to rage against that which birthed Primaris and have decided on another chapter (Legion) one that makes good use of my way I do metals (which people seem to like) and also has a splash of yellow (which people seem to like) and also are going to be fairly fast to paint and still look good.

Now i'm going to need coaching and constant affirmation to keep going and doing things right so please don't hold back and i'll try and start the new blog tomorrow.

Iron Within, Iron Without Brother.

It also has vehicles and big Stompy robots . You can also swing some dark cult followers or even some imprisoned civilians to do grunt work. Loads of possibilities and the really nice part is that you can always use them to fight in 40K as well as they don’t change much.

I’d figure out early how your going to make mucky bases as the trench warfare side of these guys and their affinity for earth (psychers are geomancers) should play a roll, but that’s just a suggestion.

Please put a new link to the thread here so I won’t miss it .
