Tough Tyrant Guard

Vancouver, BC, Canada

The battle has been long and hard. Scores of beleaguered guardsmen look over their damaged trenches and see a scorched landscape of battered Tyranid corpses. Slowly, the guardsmen begin to breathe sighs of relief, offer prayers of thanks to the Emperor, and begin to congratulate each other on an Imperial victory.

Suddenly, the sky fills with the deep beating of monstrous wings.

Lasguns clack in to place and heavy weapons whirl back into position. The battle is not over.

Command Points: 4
Total Points: 990

As the thread title says, I'm not a Tyranids player, but I've always wanted to play a Nidzilla army. I figure that this isn't the most competitive list, but would be fun to run and fun to face.

If your looking for best possible tyrant list you can take 5 in 1000 points.

2 with HVC and MRC, 3 with Deathspitters and MRC.

All have adrenaline and toxin and lets you take two of every power except for dominion which would be usless anyway.

Make your warlord take the miasma cannon and soul hunger and make them kronos for anti psycher.

LMAO taking 10 tyrants for an army at 2000 points would be hilarious. 3 supreme command detachments with 4 tyrants in one of them.

Ten Hive Tyrants would be pretty spectacular. Would footslogging Hive Tyrants still be viable though?

You could theoretically do footsloggers with tyrant guard but I don't think you would be able to get 10 since wings are cheaper than tyrant guard. And you'd also want swarmlord.

The benefits of wings are just too good. Deep strike, 16" movement, ignore terrain and models, fall back and shoot.

Can they both shoot and charge? I thought the ability only let them charge after falling back.

List has been edited to include 5 Hive Tyrants now. The load outs are largely based on what comes in the box as I do not have any Nid bitz to convert or kit bash for other weapon load outs.

Yes, because falling back is done in the movement phase.
Then they shoot since they can fly. If they can't fly then no. So it would depend on if you took the wings or not.
Then they are able to charge in the charge phase.
