The Blood Angels are and have spawned some of the coolest Space Marine chapters in Warhammer 40,000, but One thing I have a problem with is the fact that they're all frickin RED! I mean seriously the only successor that I have come across (So far) that isn't Red are the Lamenters (poor bastards) and their Chapter symbol is a pain in the arse to paint. I mean I know Red is associated with brutality and vampires and all but come on. Heck the main reason I went with the Angels Encarmine for My Blood Angels army is because of the fact their Death Company is the only one that dosen't wear Black/Gold (They Wear White, It's pretty nice.) Seriously the BA successors need more diversity to their color schemes. Just saying

The Angels Resplendent were a bright orange before they went crazy and became the Angels Penitent. And even then, they were more of a mud red/brown color.

That is why I picked the (now deceased, boo new Tyranids fluff) Knights of Blood for my army. I don't mind red, I just didn't want an ALL red army. That, and their fluff was very neat.

I actually love painting red. My Loyalist Biker army is red, and I can play them as successors of every major Codex chapter. Red Talons, Genesis Chapter, Rampagers, Imperial Talons, Red Templars, and currently.. Red Salamanders. I have a 30k jet bike project on hold if I ever want to do red Raven Wing. Because of this I can find second hand Blood Angels stuff and easily repaint them for my own Chapter.

My Orks are red. My Chaos cultists are red. Even my Cypher model is red.

I say, not enough red!

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

They have to be red, it's in the contract they signed to Khorne.

My homebrew Blood Angels successors are only partially red!

Suck it Baal system. Your lucky you exist at all.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Quoted. For. Truth.

The Blood Angels are supposed to be renowned for their artistry and sense of aesthetics, yet even the frickin Iron HANDS have more creativity when it comes to their successor chapters!! (see: Brazen Claw and Sons of Medusa)

In my headcanon the Angels Porphyr (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Angels_Porphyr) are a Blood Angel successor. Porphyr means purple but they don't wear purple, but to quote the wikipedia page for the condition Porphyria: "Porphyria has been suggested as an explanation for the origin of vampire and werewolf legends, based upon certain perceived similarities between the condition and the folklore."

In all honesty, the new fluff about the Tyranid war on Baal was pretty trash. I really wouldn't have been to upset if it was destroyed and the Blood Angels were forced to be a fleet based Chapter. That would have been better than "LOLZ Daemons show up, Tyranids gone... Crisis averted".

And that way, it would have left the Knights of Blood, who were declared renegade by the High Lord of Terra free to do what they had been doing, choppin' the enemies of mankind (and Imperial humans who happen to be in their way) up in melee.
