Anyone have an innovative ideas for wound tracking without having dice all over the playing area? I was hoping an app or something would exist. I play GK so nearly everything in my army is multi wound didn't know if people had a nice clean way to track wounds.

It’s still dice all over the place, but I’ve been using d10s. Much less likely to be picked up and rolled.

Yeah, I use larger aluminum d6 for lords and the like, d12, d20 for vehicles and walkers. This like mentioned previously reduces the odds of someone grabbing it.

There are loads of different wound counters/dials that you can buy online. 3D6 Wargaming have them customised for each army:

It would be fairly easy to make your own and paint to match your army or battlefield. I guess they could still clutter the playing area but at least they can't be knocked over.

Another idea is to make a dice base like this...

I use small diamond shaped red pieces. Problem being when small model or worse UNIT of small models with lots of wounds are around. (well okay hands off to 8th ed though at least that part is easier with 8th over 7th)

Well, I have a fried who uses those really small dice, that easily fit on the base. A bit fiddly, but you can not mix them up with the regular ones.

Just google wound trackers, you will find plenty of options. I like this one, but, i would have to rebase my models, and it doesnt work for vehicles who dont have a base.

I have a number of deformed dice that are not suited for rolling and are easilly distinguishable.

If you play unpainted or the aesthetic of the game isn't high on your priorities list then some companies make small rings that you can hang off the models' limbs, guns, tentacles, horns etc.
Something like red, orange and yellow make sense for 10, 5 and 1 wounds.
Other colours available or paintable for buffs, spell effects etc.

I've got a baggie of those tiny dice from Epic Armageddon and Battlefleet Gothic, and the even tinier ones from Pirates of the Spanish Main; They fit on just about any base.

Dice for me. Although I do use different ones from the normal pool.

Red D12s work for me. It helps that almost nothing I own has more than 12-14 wounds, so by the time they're wounded a single dice is perfect.

However, ignoring the dice options, I did print up a small laminated sheet originally - simply track wounds with a dry erase marker. This, however is not as easy for your opponent to keep track of when he's looking at targets.

This was honestly something I was considering. Something akin to tracking in warmachine.

I use non-D6 dice, and it is never a problem even with a lot of multi-wound models as only 1 model in any unit will ever have to track wounds. It was much worse in previous editions.

I tend to use loom bands. Just hang them off the model.

Formodels with more than 2-3 wounds I simply keep it in a notebook along with score/CP

2-3 wouns I use basic wound tokens. Dice tend to get picked up quickly in my local gaming group (we're not the neatest players)

I've found some great little wound tracker things from here https://www.redbeamdesigns.com/product-category/accessories/dials-and-counters/

A different colour die or a D12 or D20 work too, as long as you remember what goes where on what number.

Locally, players use "stitch counters" for their 6+w models.
You can find them in haberdashers, as they are used for knitting, and fit over the end of the knitting needles.

2 dials -1 for 10s, 1 for 1s. Cylinders.

The stitch counters are great. Or dice, d12 generally as only Barbarians need those so its nice to get some use out of them. : D
