So a bit of an interesting question I think.
A Kustom Force Field gives a 5++ to the transport that the Big Mek wearing it is embarked on. Specifically it states:
"If the Bik Mek is embarked, the vehicle transporting it has a 5+ invulnerable save against ranged weapons instead."
A Vehicle is defined as "a thing used for the transporting of people or goods, especially on land, such as a car, truck or cart."
A Gargantuan Squiggoth is a transport with a 20 model capacity.
So my inference from the above is that since the KFF rule doesn't state that the transport has to have the "vehicle" keyword, then the Gargantuan Squiggoth would benefit from the 5++ granted by the KFF.
Is there something out there that says I'm wrong on this? I don't think it's exactly game-breaking, but it's not weak either.

I would say RaW it works because Vehicle is not a keyword in the rule, so it simply means anything the Mek is embarked on.

If the Big Mek is embarked on a Gargantuan Squiggoth the Gargantuan Squiggoth will get the 5++ invulnerable save, but the Big Mek will not project the force field out in a 9" bubble unless he disembarks.

Big mek with combi-skorcha, painboy, and 18 burna boyz on a Gargantuan squiggoth is pretty nasty.

Yeah, p. sure the painboy can’t perform surgery while embarked. All abilities are basically “off” while on board a transport and only the big mek’s KFF specifically saying it works while transported means it does. And since the squiggoth is neither infantry nor biker, the painboy definitely can’t heal that.
As for the wargear; meks can replace either of their weapons with choices from the list so a KFF+Combi-Skorcha is possible. He just won’t have a close combat weapon… which isn’t such a big deal if your primary job is keeping the giant elephant/rhino/fungus alive and thus you’re not going to disembark ever.

@Mr Rose. KFF / SAG can only replace slugga [Xenox2 pg 14]
@thread. Personally I like KFF and Tankbustas in the Squiggoth.

Now read the next line in the entry. The one that starts “This model may replace its choppa…”
Then go check what’s in the “Souped-up Weapons” list on p.11.

The squiggoth is open topped correct? I do not have the rules for him. Are you guys using Forgeworld rules?

Yeah it's the Forge World Xenos index.
It's not "Open topped" but does have a rule "Howdah" that is similar in that it lets the embarked dudes shoot.
