No. Its only 5 points more expensive. I was getting mixed up between the 7th ed points cost, and the 8th ed.

I also agree that the deny on 1d6 is pretty useless. I rarely even take the time to try, unless they roll below average.

I am happy, that most of the responses were constructive, with only a few exceptions.

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

Wishlist Time! Let's go crazy and suggest rules and new plastic model kits.

  • Cannoness Clampack: Same options in a plastic kit. New rules for the Book option to replace melee weapon. Blessed Book: As Simulacrum Imperialis that works on a 2+ rather than 4+.

  • Battle Sisters Box: 10 Model Plastic Kit that includes Sister Superior with Combi-Bolter, Pistol and Melee weapon options, Bolters for all models, and 2 of each Special Weapon and 1 of each Heavy Weapon. Can be used to create Battle Sisters, Squads, Dominion Squads, and Retributor Squads

  • Celestian/Character Box: 5 Model Plastic Kit with fancy bodies that are compatible with Battle Sisters Box. Bolters with various weapon options (Combis, Pistols, Melee). Includes bits to create character models for Imaginer, Hospitaller, Dialogus, and new Palatine models. Palatine is the SOB version of Space Marine Lt.

  • Seraphim Box: 5 Model Plastic Kit to create 5 Seraphim (bits for 2 models having twin Hand Flamers or Twin Inferno Pistols) including new Close Combat Seraphim unit with Pistol and Chainsword/Power Sword/Maul on every model and one Eviscerator per unit. Rules Upgrade - Seraphim are "veterans" and thus all have 2 Attacks on their profile, both versions of the unit.

  • Repentia/New Unit Box: 10 model box that allows you to create non-BDSM Repentia with Mistress of Repentance. Also creates non-Repentia light unit as additional Troops Choice for the army (hence the loss of the BDSM look for a look that meshes with another unit type).

  • Heavy Tank Sprue: To add to the existing Rhino and Immolator Sprue and create all Plastic Exorcist and an additional Heavy Tank. A 'Mortar' style tank that toss heavy balls of flaming promethium wouldn't be to of place in a Sisters army. Or a long range Melta Cannon or some sort of Mega-Bolter.

  • Order Tactics for the 6 Orders

  • Stratagem Glorious Anthem: Allows for Additional Act of Faith at the beginning of the turn

  • Stratagem Purge The Heretic: Units gains +1 Wound Rolls until the end of the phase

  • Stratagem The Emperor Protects: 5+ FNP until end of phase

  • Stratagem Burn The Witch: Unit Rerolls Failed Hit and Wound Rolls against PSYCHER Units until end of phase

Things I want and things I don't want...
I don't want Sisters to be eldar/AM in power armor or 3S/3T Space Marines... so leave those scouts and bikes behind.
I like how the weapon defines the sister's role... it is unique to Sisters.
Also unique to Sisters... groups of 6. Not 5 or 10 like Space Marines.
I love the general Acts of Faith... just add special rules like the Dominions and Seraphim currently have.
    We need more characters

All of the kits should be Goodwin style... completely interchangeable like the Space Marine and Ork kits.
Jump pack Canonness (could be recut of the Geminae... don't care)
    A Palentine clampack
I want a 6 woman Veterans/Celestians/Command Squad pack with combi-weapons or just bolters (fancier armor)
I want a 6 woman Heavy Weapons/Retributors pack with at least 2 of each heavy weapon and a nice Sister Superior model. These could also just make Bolter Sisters.
I want a 6 woman Specialist weapon/Dominion pack with at least 2 of each special weapon and a nice Sister Superior model. These could also make just Bolter Sisters.
5 Woman pack of Serephim... able to make 2 double hand flamer or double inferno pistol
Kit with a Mistress of Repentance and 3 Plastic Repentia... but not BDSM ones. Just show them stripped of their armor and wearing long, rough spun tunics and veils. Go ahead and make them a troops option.
    Plastic Penitent Engine
Conversion kit for the Dread Knight... awww, yeah!
Giving us a Corvus Blackstar... would be awesome!
Heavy Tank Conversion kit for the Rhino... honestly, others have posted great ideas here... particularly a firey mortar.

MoO isnt a troll. MoO is a grumpy git who has seen his two favourite factions shat on for decades in favour of a very boring faction of samedude marty stu's. MoO has seen one of his favourite factions finally receive some love only to see a tirade of backlash from the players of that self same samedude marty stu fanbase, and the other blessed trio's fanbase, because they cant oneclick delete MoO's favourite faction any more. MoO has watched as samedude marty stu's have recieved update after update, and more plastic love than anyone else. MoO just wants to see a faction with a backstory that isnt "We best at everything manly men in power armour perfection" get some love. In particular MoO wants to see "Holy arm of the church who where constructed based upon a technicality found within the laws disarming the church and now fight as a militant religious order, acting as witchhunters and protectors of the faith to a zealous degree" faction get some of the cool plastic stuff that samedude marty stu's have been getting for the past two decades.

A plastic saint might be grasping at straws here, but a brand new canoness was not, especially after the amazing reception it recieved. Now if only GW could wake up, extract their head from their ass, smell the roses and realise that something other than plastic marty stu's in power armour might just sell because Sisters would sell like hotcakes if they where released in plastic and didnt cost £55 for a 10 girl basic unit.

  • That would keep them from making them $30 individual models.

Or all those relevant parts could be included on a SOB battle sisters sprue (except the dialogus, unless they change that to power armor model). Seriously, you could do almost everything with one box set. 10 battle sisters. 2 of each special and heavy weapons, Celestian heads. Hospitalier and Imagifer heads/arms/weapons. Palantine/Canoness/Sgt arms, maybe a 'boss' torso with cloak. Only Seraphim would need a separate box.

I wouldn't have a problem with non-BDSM Repentia if that means having proper models that actually look good.

They can do proper models that actually look good while keeping them all BDSM. Just look at Admech Dragoons.

Eh, they can do whatever with repentia, not like anyone will ever see them while they're what...17pts? with a 6+ save and need almost 200pts of supporting characters and vehicles to get where they need to go.

Interestingly, GW keeps mentioning plastic SoB unprompted in things (like with the year in review video) and the facebook team keeps saying things like 'We've heard that those might be something people are interested in' with heavy tongue in cheek.

I'm putting 50/50 odds on plastic SoB being revealed in March at adepticon. Remember, outside of Malign portents and the daemons codex/Nurgle releases we're to the point now where we finally don't know ANYTHING about what's coming down the line.

LVO and Adepticon should be driving ANYONE who's faction hasn't gotten anything new yet mad with anticipation.

Could be. The only slight clues we have are the massive lack of points changes in Chapter Approved for Orks, Tau, and Adeptus Ministorum.

To be honest I've never thought Sisters needed long range power beyond the Exorcist. Why wouldn't you want an organ firing missiles?

Although I think a special anti psyker ballista would be amazing.

Mostly because it's trying to fit all their long range shooting into a single box. Okay and heavy bolter retributors. So one anti tank and one anti infantry. By contrast, they've got a few varieties of short ranger shooting, a couple transports, and (if we include adeptus ministorum as a whole) a few varieties of melee. Though I can understand some don't want to use crusaders/assassins/flagellants, but they seem to have been folded into the greater adeptus ministorum just to patch these issues.

Probably a flyer with some decent long range weapon options would be a good way of opening things up a bit, plus they'd have a GW official flyer.

Adeptus ministorum had point changes in CA. Not a ton, but they've been generally regarded as a solidly balanced army this edition. The point changes they did receive were largely what people agreed they needed.

Celestine, the Exorcist, and a couple of weapons cost. They did about the same for Harlequins, Thousand Sons, Drukhari, and Orks. They kinda misplaced Tau entirely outside of Forgeworld.

Necrons too... any no one would argue that Tau and Necrons are competitive. They are likely the first armies out of the gate. I'd expect Sisters to fall pretty late in the cycle, because they are having production problems. With the demand that they have for primarius, they are going to keep pushing armies that only need books, and not really model releases.

Dark Eldar were just as dead until their plastic line came out.

A basic plastic line would do more to revive SoB interest than almost any other thing that GW could do. Unlike the DE line, the metal SoBs do actually look good, no matter your preferences.

To go beyond just a basic revival would require a decent codex and datasheet review, though. Adding some new, flavorful units that don't replace a unit's job for the army would help tremendously to get it beyond just the basics.

The only real question is, does GW have anyone with the will to make these designs?

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

We saw Canonness Verydan two years after the community effort to buy GW out of a specific sister model. Honestly, that is close to the minimal time to get a model done at scale. We ran them out of Verydan... at least twice.
They added Celestine to a Triumverate in Gathering Storm... again, they sell out repeatedly.
Made-to-order sisters and Inquisition do well, and metal sisters sell out repeatedly since 8th.
They know that there is a demand, they just aren’t positioned to take advantage of it.
