This actually makes me want to play them.

Even CB gets apparently bored occasionally with the pairing of rage fists and tactical boxes/rocks and need to throw in a "come at me, bro!" pose once in a while to mix things up.

Well, that sucks!

Still, at least it will be sometime in 2019 - which is the better part of Soon™, I think!

My bet is that RTF gets released in March at Adepticon, when they should have a book out, and in april gets a couple minis to expand the range (they do not need much to be a fully fledged sectorial), and then later in the year, at GenCon, they do a box for Tohaa X Shavastii, since they have shown nothing for them yet. That could tie in with the big black N in the end of the year, I suppose.

Koni just confirmed on official forums that 5 new armies from now on. IA is a january release but it doesn't count for these 5 new armies.
I was wrong.

So RTF and Shasvastii are confirmed.

3 unknown to go.

They haven't been quite that quick to flesh things out. Still waiting on quite a few things from Uprising after all. :(

He also said to expect a mercenary army, and that the 5 armies will be a mix of new Sectorials and revamping old Sectorials.

Is "frontovik" the Russian word for dull and uninspired?

Those renders look terrible. I cannot tell much at all about the minis. Is it the image quality? Nothing for me this month.

It's amazing how an industry is concerned about this aspect.
LotR is very much an Anglo-Saxon thing that has spread. Spaniards will have their own ideas about fantasy, based upon Spanish culture. Or so I hope, if CB does make a fantasy game. I've enjoyed Professor Tolkien's work -- The Hobbit anyway-- but I do not like that it has come to dominate, and push out all other sorts of fantasy. A not LotR fantasy would be welcomed change, IMO.

I have always found it fascinating how Fantasy is dominated by the works of one man - Tolkien - while Sci-Fi remains free from any such dominance (other than a strong bias towards humanoid aliens). It would be weird to see Klingons or the Chiss show up in Infinity, where as no one bats an eye when Elves and Orcs show up in a fantasy game.

Let the wild speculation begin!

I say White Banner and Svarlerhemiheimehime.

There are Klingons in Infinity. We call them Morats.

It is a sadness that Tolkien's works have dominated pop culture and drowned out thousands of years of folk-lore and many, many other good fantasy stories. In folk-lore, Elves have been around for a long time, as have goblins. Orcs, IIRC, were another word for goblin, in Tolkien's "legendarium", at least initially.

To the Topic: Shasvastii would be the revamped sectorial, Ramah one of the 4 remaining, which leaves 3... And there are the White Banner and Svalarheim sectorials, releasing them together would be thematic. The Kaplans can be a N2A sectorial. I doubt the khanate or the Tohaa sectorials are coming anytime soon.

There is an analog for LotR for Sci-if. It’s called Dune.

Ah!

Getting Ramah Task Force AND PanO's Svalarheima Sectorial in the same year would be fantastic!

Glad to see I wasn't the only one who thought Carlos's phrasing made it sound like IA was one of the 5 as he was speaking a little faster I think in this video then in past ones and some stuff was harder to follow.

With Shavastii being a known and one N2 being promised that's 2. Then a new Tohaa was stated last year coming out this year, but not a given, seams like RTF is the same. Though I'd give more weight to Tohaa being one of the 5 since they were talked up quite a bit in the video.

What armies are people expected to get an update? Maybe Neoterra? It's probably the next PanO faction to get dropped so why not give it a polish like they did SAA before Svalarheima comes out.

For refrence here's the stats on armies used since ITS Season 9 started in 2018 from the article a week or so ago

Given CB's need to keep SKUs down I'd guess NT is probably heading the way of SAA. Doubly so if Svarla is incoming.

PanO's in a weird spot...there's two subfactions now that could effectively be split off as NA2s(Neoterra and Military Orders both)--and Svalarheim is going to have some crossover with MO.

They'd kinda have to rewrite the fluff of MO to make them NA2. They're pretty integral to PanO. Given that the Church has very little presence in any of the other nations and is itself one of the major political factions of PanO itself.

Carlos did say the next book would have an uprising level change for the setting. MO could break off to NA2. While it would probably be one that is easily justifiable to be NA2 it would rather lame to have the same thing a second year in a row.
