Its only proper than a faction that as the Medusa has a central part of his theme, has a Greek vibe going on.

So, when I saw in january's WD that one of the new four warlords for the legend of four warlords series, had chosen daughters of Khaine as his army, I thought it was an interesting choice... Guess we have the reason now

Nah. Witch Elves and Daemonettes are facing each other, rather than being a progression.

The Witch Elves clearly face the Mantisnettes. I'm not seeing a transformation, but that these two fight each other seems pretty clear.

My problem is more that these look distinct from Daemonettes with a classic one even pictured. Might we be looking at a new version of Daemonette to save us from the horrible current plastics without actually discontinuing them?

I think you are reading to much in a extremely simplified representation of daemonettes in the classic greek ceramic style.

Move over TS, greek inspired shadow elves I am in.

Hope they keep something of the greek theme in the actual models. I already liked "classic-era" feel of the old warhammer high elves.

Pretty much this, people are readying waaaay too much into it. People think they are going to do new daemonettes when we already got plastic ones? Diaz's in my opinion are not lore friendly at all while the new ones are closer to their realm of chaos look.

That said, Greco-Shadow Elves is potentially the coolest thing I've heard of to happen to AOS. Helps that Bloodwrack Medusa is also one of my favorite of the last batch of DE from The World That Was. And props to people pointing out the Classical influences that were already happening in the DE line, embarrassingly I never caught on to that

There seem to be a lot of medusae hanging around that cauldron of blood and elsewhere throughout the animation.

Could it be possible we might see a half-new release like we saw with sylvaneth with more snake people?

I for one welcome our new female snakewyches. They shall work excellent as replacements Sslyth models (I hate the current finecast).

Well done Dakka!

But in all seriousness, this sounds like an awesome release, can't wait to see more!

I am not sure if the complaints where about order getting a new faction, i think it was more about a certain order faction cough sigmarines cough getting yet another variant model or another release. Death players probably are not thrilled about it though

As beloved as Diaz Daemonettes may be to many, they're in no way classic. I'm talking about, really, any other Daemonette. The current plastics, the 1st ed models they are based on, even the gigantic claw 2nd ed ones.

Just to say, I'm not reading anything into anything. There's a classic Daemonette depicted on the roof. That's a fact. There are more figures on Slaanesh's side that share some but not all anatomical marks of the Daemonette. That's a fact. Either both of these depictions are simplified, or neither. There is no qualitative difference along the scrolling drawing other that that figures filled in over time. But once they're done, they are all up to the same standard.

When I'm daydreaming about a new Daemonette-like unit, I don't mean as a replacement to the plastic kit. Did you pay attention to the Custodes release? GW took Custodians, gave them skirts and BOOM! New unit. Slaanesh's model line is mostly complete, and as GW has shown with several Chaos forces now, they are all too willing to add new units to fill out mono-god rosters.

You should get that cough looked at. Sounds nasty.

I'm not saying I'd kill for a Greek theme, but I think the best thing about the mortal Slaanesh horsey riders were the helmets, and not just because they conceal their ugly mugs. I wouldn't mind getting more of that. Slaanesh, elves, makes no difference to me.

Love the Diaz models but in my mind they are all daemonettes now - just different facets of the same thing - deamonettes are often described as having flowing, shifting forms form beautiful to horrrific and back

We already had plastic assault marines, mostly plastic death guard/thousand sons/deathwatch, Tau firewarriors, broadsides, and crisis suits. All replaced during last edition alone.

I am not hoping for Diaz ones in plastic, but something better than current terrible box is long overdue

I think I'm only one of the ones that prefer the actual plastic Daemonettes than the Diaz's ones (And being from Spain I have been called a traitor for that by fellow friends )

Is not that I like the design more. Actually I like Diaz's design more. But I think the actual Daemonettes are more in line with the Warhammer aesthetic for Daemons. Diaz's ones were generic lusty sucuby.

They didn't look generic to me. I mean, when I think generic succubus, I don't think of one with 6 breasts, raptor feet and a crustacean like claw.
You mean these, right?

Well, you're not the only one. Here's another weirdo just like you.

Ok, not like you at all because I just don't like the overall Diaz design, but I do acknowledge that given the limitations of two part metal models they do have some things going for them the current plastics fail to achieve, like a sense of motion and a playfulness that fits Slaanesh.

Mmm, it's always good to see the Diaz girls again. So good. Not remotely a fan of the extremely limited poses or the metal or the weird way some of the separate arms stick out, but the details are delicious.

Plastics that replaced them are in plastic? And have useful heads for converting other things. That's about all I got.

But wow, it's hard to find a daemonic steed to beat that's deader than this one

Maybe generic wasn't the proper word. But is like the Blodletters we have now. They don't follow your typical depiction of a lesser fighting daemon like the 3rd edition( I think was in that edition) did.
For me Warhammer Daemons are all about being horrible and distorted. Diaz's Daemonettes where too appealling. Even with the claws, feets and 6 tits.

But I'll drop this subject here because its offtopic, I apologize.
