Had initial games and looking at the rules we are considering the following House Rules;

EDITED 2st Jan - following helpful suggestions here and elsewhere, Have put together crib sheet for Escher Gang, working on Goliath and Scavies (one of our club has this as his only Legacy gang) - if anyone wants a pdf drop me a PM

Gang creation – Campaign and One-offs
Each Gang has access to the Common items in the Trading Post as well as their own list when generating their gang roster We are much more likely to be playuing one off games than campigns.

Gang War Gang Creation Rules Goliath45-47, Escher p49-51,

Reasons: More flexibility especially for those with legacy gangs and varied models)


Equipment

The following items are added to all Gang equipment lists: (currently Escher, Goliath and soon to be scavies) amends GC rules Goliath on 45-47 and Escher 49-51 plus Trading Post (prices 30-31), Armoury 32-33

Axe
Club Range E, S, Dam 2, Melee, (5 Creds, Common)
Chainsword L range: E + S+1, Ap -1, Dam 2 Melee, Parry, Pulverise, , (35 creds, Common),
Fighting Knife,
Flail, S Range E, L range: 2” +1 to hit at L/R, Strength +1, Melee, Versatile, (20 creds, Common),
Sword, L range: E, +1 to hit at L/R, Melee, -1AP, Parry, (25 creds, Common),
Two-Hander L range E, E: -1 to hit at L/R, Strength +2, -1 AP, Dam 3, Melee, Unwieldy, (20 creds, Common),

Stub gun

Spoiler:
reasons: as above, weapons selection for starting and onoing gangs is limited and bit dull.


Flamers, Boltguns and Bolt Pistols are added to the Gang list as Special Items (slightly restrict access for Bolt weapons)

Bolt Pistol S/R 6”, L/R 12”, +2 to hit at S/R, Strength 4, Dam 2, -1AP, Ammo 6+, Pistol, (25 Credits Rare (8))
Boltgun S/R 12”, L/R 24”, +1 to hit at S/R, Strength 4, Dam 2, Ammo 6+, -1AP Rapid Fire (1), 55 Credits Rare (8)
Flamer L Range: Flamer Template, Strength 4, AP -1, Dam 1, Ammo 5+, Blaze, Template (100 creds, Rare (8), )

Hv Stubber as a Heavy weapon choice for all gangs

Errata

1. Toxin weapon attacks are rolled from when they successful hit an enemy and after armour saves are made, no Wound Roll is required. So you roll to hit, they make an armour save and if failed the attacker rolls 2D6 vs Toughness + D6 in the usual way.
considering +1 bonus to the roll if the defender has more than Wound remaining, (+1 past the first)

Toxin rules p39 of Gang War 1
Spoiler:
The current toxin weapons seem worthless and are very expensive? This way the strength of the wielder makes no difference.


Errata
Escher p49-51,
Escher Leader has 6+ INT (to match Champion)
Escher Lasguns cost 10 credits,
Escher Las Pistols cost 5 credits - the stub pistol is already available at 5 creds.

Giving access to common items before the first game is an excellent idea. The original limitation seems to have no other motivation than for players to have to collect additional models to swap after game 1. It also motivates setting up a naked team, jumping a juve of a building first round to bottle out.

Upgrading the Two-handed weapon is also good and an absolute necessity. The original rules is just plain garbage and makes no sense.

Not sure why you would want to meddle with the sword, it already got better stats and a slightly different price, not sure what the motivation is to change that.

The flamer is already included, not sure why to repeat it here (other than giving it Rare status). Not sure if I agree on setting it to rare while other (potentially more potent) weapons like plasmagun is not.

Scattershot seems to inflict D6 wounds with S2, so not sure if that is too weak.

Setting Escher to the initial 10 credits and Laspistol to 5 is how it should have been. GW made an obvious mistake in my eyes here.

There's a whole lot of talk about making an Arbitrator's Handbook over at yaktribe which you could contribute to and/or draw further inspiration from.

Not sure when they're gonna fix this game with a FAQ, so will be interesting to see how many of the current house rules being discussed are to be adressed.

Re Common Items - yeah i don;t like the fact your gang can;t have this stuff from the get go but suddenly after game you can.
Sword - Just prefered the stats TBH

Scattershot - So far we have only used solid as it has double the range, is S4 and causes 2 damage, and still gets +1 to hit at up to 8", but maybe we need to try the other one more.... I did think about making it so you choose Blast 3" or Scattershot?

Escher - yeah just seems to ake sense

Asked (as have others) on FB about FAQs but is seems to be taking ages, guess ot a priroity.

Having some basic common items (like frickin' stub guns!) available from the word go should be part of the game. The idea that Escher have to buy their special swords over regular swords doesn't sit right with me, and as someone who likes to arm the gangers with what they have on the miniature, I don't like having to use the 'Spare Stub Gun' Tactics Card to make my Escher Juve WYSIWYG for the first game of the campaign before I can buy a Stubgun from the trading post.

Yeah I'm with Baxx on this one.

Scattershot is fantastic. It won't do dick to high-toughness guys, but on a good roll you can get a whole bunch of injury roles and if you don't get them Out of Action you could get a couple of Flesh Wounds in addition to a Man Down, and that's very good.

It would be very interesting if along with these house updates you also included notes on what page in what book to annotate them in in pencil or with a post-it or whatnot. It would make adopting them a much quicker affair and help ensure you catch all the spots to change without having to read the entire book looking for straggling references you know?

Thanks I'll have a look and see what i can do - do you haev both Gang War and basic Rulebook

I do find the flicking between both books already tiresome so I am putting all the relevant info onto a handy two page check sheet for each Gang for both Character creation and during the game - see image below. I don't think you can upload PDfs to Dakka?

Thanks for that! I find a big obstacle to people adopting these kinds of rules is the intimidation of hunting down each reference on each page, but it is suddenly very simple if it is noted - adjust text on page 25, 38 for this entry. Helps you get your work out there into the wild a bit easier.
