Strict RAW they can't, because the flowchart only allows you to use the wargear options from the index datasheet, and in the index they're granted the option to take jump packs by a bullet point in the Blood Angels section and not in their datasheet. Of course, I wouldn't disallow them the use of jump packs in a friendly game, but it may be worth knowing depending on your group/meta/tournament organiser etc.

No, Company Veterans can't. Do you even read the rules before answering?

Company Veterans cannot take jump packs, RaW or RaI or any other acronym you want. The index datasheet doesn't have access to them, nor do the Blood Angel Version have access to them.

The Priest has access to them via the Index Flowchart. The footnote in the Blood Angels section of the Index is no longer used for Blood Angels armies, thus Company Veterans cannot take Jump Packs.

Incorrect http://prntscr.com/ibtzy2 Very much in the wargear options for the Priest.

You are correct in that the bullet point for the Company Veterans no longer technically applies.

Dear me guys. The bullet point is not to be disregarded. It's an instruction to modify a Datasheet for Blood Angels use rather than present a whole separate Datasheet. Stop trying to invent ways to stop people using their models! ...it's kinda funny, only it isn't.

Pg. 89 of index imperium 1 right on top says : "The following space marine DATASHEETS can be from the blood angels chapter."

And the datasheet doesn't have any access to Jump Packs. The footnote in the Blood Angels section doesn't apply to Company Veterans anymore because they have a codex entry.

Pg. 89 index imperium 1 (which is a datasheet list, it says so on top of the page) tells you to modify the SM company vets datasheet to add JP for BA. Thats wargear not present in the codex datasheet of the BA codex, the flowchart gives permission to use wargear from the index.

They are legal in itc, which is enough confirmation for me of how the flowchart works.

Which only applies to the Index Datasheet. You can't use the Index Datasheet because they have a Codex Datasheet. The flowchart only allows you to take options on the datasheet, not options added by rules that no longer apply.

Large groups of people seem to disagree with that interpretation.

The datasheet list still applies for datasheets in the index.. Any instructions on it still apply to datasheets in the index. Therefore, you treat the datasheet as having a jetpack and you can take it.

Logical fallacy: appeal to numbers. It doesn't matter how many people agree or disagree with a given position, only whether or not that position is correct.

Indeed. Popularity is not the same as Correctness. Let's hope that the big FAQ in March fixes or clarifies it.

I am not using the index datasheet. I am using wargear from the index datasheet, which is legal, see the flow chart.

Show me where on the Index Datasheet it has any mention of Jump Packs. The footnote on the Blood Angel army page does not affect the datasheet because Blood Angels do not use those rules anymore, because they have a codex.

A note for modifying wargear on an index sheet is still most certainly applicable to the index datasheets, and is applicable for determining whether there are wargear options in the index that aren't available in the codex.

I disagree, mainly because Company Veterans have a codex datasheet, therefore you no longer use the index rules for the index version.

The Index Datasheet itself does not have it as a wargear option, so you can't use the Designers Commentary Flowchart to get them.

When that large group includes TOs, it matters a lot.

These are the same TO's that think you can use Stratagems on Embarked units, right?

Logical fallacy: equating one judge's erroneous decision to mean all judges are stoopid and incorrect. Invalid argument, please try again.

I already told you, but you ignored it. Datasheets for BA in the index are on pg. 89. It says so on top of that page. It's a short list because GW didn't want to print every datasheet for every chapter. That would have made the index have something like 1000 pages.

You are wrong. Pg. 89 are the index datasheets for BA, which include JP for company vets. The flowchart gives me permission to use wargear from the index datasheet, if that wargear is not in the datasheet codex.

Aren't you having to refer to page 89 in the index to know which datasheets to use for BA? You don't know that the datasheet is applicable to BA without using that page. If you're using the page for that, you use the page for what it says for wargear modifications to datasheets.

Only for Datasheets without a Codex Entry. Company Veterans have a codex entry.

But you get to refer to the index for wargear options not in the codex entry. Therefore you get to refer to the index to see if there is wargear for the datasheet, which means you're using page 89 for determining if there's an applicable datasheet for BA, which also means you get the statement saying that for BA the datasheet includes the JP.

You get to refer to the wargear entries ON THE DATASHEET. Company Veterans don't have Jump Packs on the Datasheet because the footnote that gives them that no longer applies.

That's climbing through a whole lotta holes to find the point.

Personally I don't see why they wouldn't get jump packs, but I also agree with BCP's point of view.

Since BA has their own codex, everything in the index other than datasheets and wargear options no longer in the codex is null and void. This includes references to pages that no longer have a purpouse (since the codex is out).

I'd personally just house rule them to be allowed jump packs for the same price it takes any other unit to get them other than death company since they get discounted price jet packs.
