So more of a collecting question, but since I'm buying based around a list I thought I might post my plan here and ask for advice.

This is what I have so far.

Farseer w/spear 105
Doom, Fortune
BT Warlord Trait

2x War Walker w/Shuricannons 140

Wraithlord w/catapults and sword 113

5x Wraithblade w/swords 175

6x Dire Avengers w/Pglaive and shield 96

10x Fire Dragons 240

Wave Serpent w/Shuricannons 134

20x Guardians w/platform 180

Total: 1183

So what should I add to bring me up to 1500? I was thinking another War Walker and Wraithlord would do the trick, even if I had to shave off points somewhere.

The plan is to have the blades and seer in the WS, with the Lord's running along side, outflank the War Walkers and webstrike the Dragons and Guardians while the DAs camp objectives. Sound legit? I should only have four drops on deploy, and if facing an alpha strike I can Cloudstrike instead to put more models on the board. I think I'm making good use of shuriken weapons here with enough support that I'm not limited to high volume spray and pray. The idea being the Lord's and Dragons can take out high T stuff, the blades can do mobs, and the shuriken reroll cheese is good enough to force lots of saves.

Maybe 5 more wraithblades. Webway strike all 10

Put the firedragons in the wave serpent

And buy a hemlock wraithfighter. They can go anywhere turn 1. Auto hit. And rape ass

Also I never liked foot farseers. Too easy to kill. I like them on a jet bike for added toughness and wound and to get wherever they are needed quickly

I really like that Wraithfighter model actually. Plus the whole Mindshock, horrify, then mind war LD bomb looks really dope on paper.

Thanks for the reply! If I can ask, why do I want to Webway the wraiths? 9" charge seems kinda risky.

Get a psyker on a jet bike to move up and cast quicken on them. Then you’ve got 10 wraithblades absolutely ripping apart the enemy army. They will prioritize them with shooting as well. They can absorb a lot of shots and meanwhile your shooting units will be blowing units away. If you charge up with the wraithblades you may be able to tie up multiple enemy units when you pile in I think. I’m any case you’ll have an exciting game lol

your mind

I like the warwalker for 3.

I don't like flyers, though it is good to have one in case others insist on using them,
and they are cool models.

Instead, for collecting purposes,
I would go with Vaul's batteries,
and another tank - a falcon probably.

Add a farseer on a bike,
and use your footpsyker as a warlock.

Add an autarch with a firepike and a bike maybe too, cool converting possibilities here...

Well truth be told I'm actually looking at doing all my jetbikes, vypers and the like as a separate Exodites detachment using the Samm Hain attribute. Despite earlier misgivings over dinoriders I now have read the Samm Hain fluff and well... Dinosaur jetbikes for the win!! Haha!

I also like War Walker #3 because then I can squad them and free up a heavy slot.

Quicken, right I forgot that spell. Quicken the webway wraiths and that lets them get into charge range. So, am I just Webway Striking one large unit of wraiths then?

Pretty much. Or you could buy some wraithcannon guys to webway assault with. They don’t need quicken. The downside is if they get charged they are tied up. But the first turn you shoot would kill practically anything. Also wraithblades also get most out of being Iyanden I think. Could also just webway strike a few 20 man guardian units and cast doom on the enemy units. And shred them with volume of fire. So many different things possible

Just always try to maximie the special powers and unit bonuses to work together

Wraithguard can fall back and shoot

Huh I never thought of that, derp. Webway makes me automatically think of Guardians, but wraithguard would be nasty too.

I think I really like the idea of Cloudstrike Hemlock aiming for a LD bomb setup, perhaps even Clouding in a WS with the rest of the LD bomb combo aboard. Just for lolz. That could be endless fun, zapping warlords with mind war and causing huge amounts of mortal wounds via bad feels. Kinda gets shut down a bit by high LD and buffing but then you just threw a ton of dakka on the board.

I'd go a hemlock and a warwalker with double lances, or maybe some more troops? There's a danger that you'll just get back-capped with just one unit of DAs.

Looks like a fun force!

Well I do have 20 Guardians on the way don't forget! I could always use them to camp, if needed. But you're right, more troops could never hurt. There is a box of DA sitting at the shop but I shouldn't go too overboard on one army too quickly.

I need some mon-keigh to eradicate after all!

I think I may just do the third War Walker for now since I also forgot about two metal Warlocks that should be in with the rest of the trade. One more walker would give me the extra shurican I need to properly equip my second walker and I do need something heavy to throw downrange so a dual BL walker on its own could work.

So with all this, Eldar Trickery, going on now I need to choose one of my other two armies to bulk out!

Warlock for a second HQ choice and access to Runes of Battle, these are great powers. Maybe 2 warlocks, they're cheap. Protect and Conceal are both very strong buffs for any unit. Keep in mind that all the Runes of Battle buffs only work on Infantry and Bikes, no vehicles or wraith lords.

A third troops choice for a battalion. I would keep the 20 man guardian blob as 1 unit. You can screen with it or webway it to bomb with them. 2 shuricannon platforms give you 4 wounds at 3+ save, 2++ with protect. A 5 man unit of Rangers is a good choice. Cheap, can infiltrate to deny deep strikes turn 1, and can maybe snipe fragile support characters like weird boyz, officers, painboy, changeling, etc.

From there you need to think about delivery. You have a lot of strong units, and limited ways to carry them. You've always got 1 unit in the webway cheap, you should probably use that every game over cloudstrike because units in the serpent that you cloudstrike can't pile out when you arrive. You can opt to put 2 in the webway but that's 3 CP and isn't always worth it. Depends on your list. You also have to consider what to do with your fire dragons.

Possible options:

* Webway 20 man guardian unit - good bomb for hordes, fairly durable with celestial shields. Very durable if you're Iyanden
* Webway a 10 man blob of fire dragons if something big absolutely has to die
* Webway a 5 man group of fire dragons, and put a 5 man unit inside a falcon
* Dire Avengers should go in a transport. Not really any other good option for 6 of them. Let them be an obsec unit hidden in a transport for grabbing objectives mid-late game.

I think you need more transports for your set of models. 2 Falcons could be very good. You've got wraiths in the larger capacity wave serpent, 2 falcons can hold 6 models each. You've got 2 fire dragon squads and 1 dire avenger squad. I think 1 fire dragon squad in a falcon and 1 in the webway is a good mix. Avengers go in the other falcon. Guardians create a big screen on the ground that protects your vehicles and wraithlord from turn 1 charges. WLs are good if you get the charge, but get wrecked by other big stuff if they get charged. Each Falcon also brings a Pulse Laser, a cannon, and 2 heavy guns giving you some long range shooting.

Now you have dragons in a transport, dragons off board, and lots of bodies on board. The main downside is that the falcon with dragons inside is a huge target.

Edit: If you're running 2 war walkers, a third might not be bad. War Walkers get good returns on the Guide power because they stay as a single unit. If you wanted a lot of heavy weapons you could even run 6 bright lances on 3 war walkers and guide them. That's getting expensive and has a huge target painted on it however.

I would definitely add 5 more wraithblades so you can webway in a full 10, support then with quicken and they'll play huge dividends. I'd also consider some dark reapers and shining spears, they're currently the best two units in the codex, and even if they don't fit into this particular list, they're a great long term investment.

That is great advice guys! Great excuse to buy moar models!!!

So, I got my trade package today. While I am still super pumped about all the minis I got I have to fudge my list a but. The snap fit guardians are simply too small to mix and match them between squads. Since I have 12 of them I guess I'm going to run 2 squads of 6 each. I might say screw it and build 8 DAs and leave the Guardian blob at 16 models.

I also have two warlocks and a heavy weapon platform to fit in there too!

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Doh! The snap fit guardians will become Fire Dragons!
