Hey everyone !
I've been out of the hobby for quite some time, just started to slip back into things. I haven't got much in the way of models yet but I have some cool ideas I want to play around with and look forward to sharing them with you all.
Thanks for reading !

Hi and welcome from another Brit. I too returned to the fold after a lengthy absence - in my case it was about 25 years!

Thank you for the warm welcome!

Well I started looking at going into warhammer fantasy but the whole AOS shake up has kinda thrown me and got rid of a lot of the fluff and army elements I liked. So I wanted to use the empire models as they have always taken my interest and use them in a 40k setting, so I'm looking into a counts as imperial guard force based around a Knight world army, sort of like a peasantry force that would accompany imperial knights into battle.

Nice to see a fellow Brit ! Whereabouts are you from ? It's only been about 6 years for me ! Must be quite a change since last time you were in the hobby ?

Down south - between Southampton and Winchester. And yes, very much so. I was playing from the Slaves To Darkness and The Lost And The Damned books when they were current... Came back around the start of 6th edition, when a friend and I decided to take the plunge and split Dark Vengeance between us.

Good job for coming back. This edition seems to have many people returning.
that's a great idea for the "peasants" supporting knights. Rogue Trader used to have a lot more things for improvised weapons and rules for odd things like you're saying.
Do you own any of the new rules or codex, or read them yet? What do you think you would use ruleswise? Just guardsmen with lasguns, or something more exotic and homemade?
Where are you based? I'm Birmingham way and have recently returned too.

I live in Peterborough, nothing to write home about haha Southampton is nice though worked in the area a couple of times ! Sounds like a good deal, what half did you choose ?

There's defiantly a lot of new interesting kits coming out at the minute. I haven't got any of the new books, but I'm definitely leaning towards imperial guard because of the big selection of choices in the force and they'll make great objective takers with an allied knight for the extra fire power haha I'm going to try and keep the general aesthetic of the empire models but make sure they all look like they belong in the 40k world. I live in Peterborough.

I've always loved the bad guys - had to be Chaos! Have about 3000 points now, just need to find the time to finish painting the buggers. Started collecting Dark Eldar too...

For conversation bits and ideas for a "peasant" force take a look at Anvil Industries... They have some medieval looking "modern" forces...
