Gotta say I am pretty disappointed about the quality of the new core, the TIE/ln models are not the best and all of the bank and turn templates are printed with the middle line printed way off centre. The new cards though I really like and the promo damage deck is really good, hope they do a series of these as participation prizes.

Can you show us a comparative of the new TIE versus the old one? I'm curious now.

I'm hiking to the FLGS this morning to pick up everything. I hope he got the delivery yesterday like he was supposed to.

Sorry no can do at the moment mate, its 0100 and bed time, all my original TIEs are at my brothers as well so Saturday is the earliest I will be able to manage a comparison of it.
There is something wrong the pegs and the left hand panel on each 'tilts' outwards and downwards. The Xwing is good though, the wings have the full range of motion and are stiff. Doesn't seem to be an isolated incident either so makes me wonder if there was a problem in shipping and they got either superheated or frozen.

Managed to score a Falcon as well, only place that got any in was 650km away.

Has there been any word on how long the upgrade packs will be available for? I'm looking at needing to wait until Christmas ideally to get the imperial.and rebel.uograde packs and just wanted to be sure they aren't.just an at-launch thing.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Our FLGS just started selling today, picked up Saw’s Renegades (with its 1.0 and 2.0 cards) as they had all “1st ed” box sets marked as 40% off. Also got the new Falcon. My buddies picked up the Scum & Imperial conversion sets respectively, but I didn’t get to see the contents. My copies (from MM) look like they should arrive Friday or Saturday (probably the latter).

I don’t expect I’ll be keeping up with X-Wing any more. I’ve got what I want for 1.0 and the prices have kept me from getting too far into 2.0 (just a starter, Imperial & Rebel conversion - didn’t get the Scum). This game is going to really have to impress me to pick up more, and right now I’m kinda bummed on the additional layout I’ve just had to put into a game I only play occasionally.

They are definitely not an at launch only thing, but we have no idea of long they will be around. I would hazard a guess that at least until wave 4-5 if not forever. Just found out that the new single ship blisters that were going to be slightly more expensive have became much more expensive. V1 they were $25, V2 they were supposed to be $28-30 and now they are $35.

This deal is getting worse all the time...

Pretty sure the Conversion Kits aren't just a launch day thing but I wouldn't expect them to stick around forever. I'd be very, very surprised if they weren't still available at Christmas. None of this has been confirmed by FFG though.

The app is out and oh my God is it terrible. The UI is awful and the functionality is all over the place. Basic things like variable cost upgrades don't work at all. Even worse, the app requires an internet connection at all times - nothing is stored locally.

Just tried to build my Oicunn ramboat. That website is awful - and I hope we're not really missing cards like Ysard and Mara Jade or won't be playing 2E long.

Did I miss it or is there no way to see the condition cards for those upgrades that inflict a condition or see the details of what the bombs actually do?

This whole app thing is an embarrassment from beginning to end, a really sad state of affairs that unpaid fans can make something better, cleaner and more accurate as well as have it released well before the official product. For those not aware;
https://raithos.github.io/?f=Scum%20and%20Villainy&d=v4!s!&sn=New%20Squadron&obs=

On my issue with the TIEs posted above I managed to get them sorted out with some hot water treatment and regluing one of the panels. I also found a couple of FOs from TFA core and the new TIEs are at lot lighter and more fragile feeling than those, I guess FFG have changed the plastic. They also left an injection point uncleaned.

Stormonu; Ysard has been replaced with Tua (may perform a free red reinforce if you are damaged), no idea about Jade but thought maybe one of the Inquisitors does a similar thing?

Picked up the Core and Rebel conversion kit yesterday. The core requirement is definitely the gougey part of the upgrade. There's absolutely nothing about it that shouldn't have been in the upgrade pack. I'd happily pay another $10 on those things if they came with the damage deck and template cardboard.

Haven't looked too much at the game. Pretty clear the digital side wasn't ready. On my phone it keeps insisting I download the app that doesn't exist. I think it'll get there. It's not a novice job by any means and while there's some inefficiency in the name of professional appearance, its pretty clear they want it be a pretty robust tool. Despite being unfinished, it inspired more confidence than I got out of the upgrade packs at least.

App is live. Doesn't facilitate gameplay at all and even actively discourages it once you've saved the list you've built. Clearly FFG wants to make sure you're still forced to buy and manage and ever bloated pile of cards. Very disappointed.

I think I’ll wait a week to download the app, it’s surely going to go through some revisions. The non-official website posted above works on the devices I use, and I’ve already seen someone print their list out from that, much better than FFG’s offering at the moment.

I hope we’ll get there with this new app, but it’s going to frustrate a lot of the existing user base. Expect to see a lot of X-Wing collections being dumped on e-bay out of frustration.

As a new player who bought a bunch of 1.0 ships and will be starting the game when i get back to the uk in October, I'm very upset about all this. I was going to move to x wing and make it my mian game after 40k started to lose my interest but recently k has picked up and x wing has gone down hill... all these problems separately won't be a problem but together it becomes a game ending problem.

Hope it all gets sorted by the time i get back.

And in increase in price and loss in quality sounds awful.

The app is already much improved (not exactly difficult given how bad it was to start with) and it seems it's only the TIE Fighters that are a bit more flimsy, not any of the other models. In fact, the X-Wing on the core set is an improvement over the one's that came in Saw's Renegades as the s-foils work much better. I have Lando's Falcon and that is the same good quality as any of the other ships I've bought from FFG. The game itself seems much, much better than 1st edition and in comparison to 40k it's a huge improvement in gameplay experience. Your decisions during the game actually matter, for example.

Just got through playing my first live game using the new stuff, got to say I like it. The lack of stapled together cards (like PTL on every single arc dodger) and the much more limited interactions between cards is a really good thing, reminds me a lot of early v1. Found the new barrel roll rules to be annoying to remember as well as a lot more limiting, Force and calculate are both good as are the bullseye requirement for a lot of things. If FFG could get their gak together with the app it would be nice.

I played with;
Boba - Han gunner, 000, Fearless and marauder.
Old Teroch.
Talonbane - Crackshot.

Played against Darth, Lambda and miniswarm,

Wonky launches and moaning about it seems par for the course these days I really wouldn't worry about it, the app will get patched plus there are a few fan ones being revised for 2.0

The price jump is a bit of a stinger but X-Wing is still one of the cheaper entry games

At the same time i feel like I'm in the right to moan when i pay them $100 to play the game and they give us an app that's broken when fans made a better hap withnless money and less time.

I'm an imperial player so i hope my ties arn't as bad but i got a bunch of 1.0 ties so should be good.

I think that it has more to do with the current culture regarding making computer programs and apps these days then anything specific with FFG.

Its now acceptable to make paying customers your guinea pigs at launch instead of fully testing products before releasing it. Afterall, you can just patch it later...

Yeah, it's that. I mean these problems were on the front page of opening the app. You can't tell me not a single person noticed that before it shipped.

Not real happy with the App. Reminds me a lot of Privateer Press' Warrroom App, and it's been out over two years and is still full of bugs and breaks every time they push an update. These game companies hire third party developers to make apps for these games, and then no one seems to do any quality testing on the final product.

Out of the base set, Rebel, Empire, and Scum conversion sets, I only ended up with a couple shield tokens, and not nearly enough focus, evade and Lock tokens.

Speaking of tokens, FFG added way more tokens into the game and things to track. Not sure if that's a good thing or not yet, but it does add complexity to the game. /shrug

So far, the new edition has been very enjoyable to play.

You get shield, focus and evade tokens, plus every other token you need, whenever you buy a ship. It isn't the job of the upgrade kits to supply these as the assumption would be you own the ship if you're going to play it, and shield tokens etc haven't changed.

If a ship has a new function that needs tokens and there's not enough of those, then that's an issue, but I've got more focus, evade, shield and lock tokens than I could ever need already from a large, but by no means total, collection of existing ships.

The lack of shield tokens is annoying, but I'm not sure how you don't have enough Focus tokens (or any other token) if you have all 3 conversion kits. I already have more than enough of everything except locks and shield tokens without even buying a wave 1 expansion.

The game is a lot of fun and definitely plays much, much better than 1st edition did towards the end of its life. I like the fact that 2-dice attacks are now relevant and decisions matter more often now. Loads of abilities that used to just let you do something to the opponent now have ways to be avoided, usually by providing the target player with a choice. For example, Asajj and Darth Vader crew do similar things to 1st edition but the opposing player can choose to take a different effect if they want. That already makes the game feel a lot less oppressive.

I really only expected shield tokens because the conversion kit says what tokens from 1E I'm expected to keep and shield tokens definitely aren't one of them. Granted, I'm smart enough to actually understand I CAN use the 1E shield tokens and all, but it was still a bit of a surprise.

Overall I'm really happy with the conversion kits. I do think they should have just been $10 more though and come with the core set stuff (damage deck mainly). That's bit of my upgrade purchase that felt needless and gougey overall.

Got in my first three games this weekend (one rebels game, other two as scum).

Overall I like the new game on the table, it definately feels like an improvement to an already awesome game. Dengar is (still?) a beast, I got to run him for the first time this weekend and he spat in IG’s & the new Falcon’s face (and they were no slumps themselves).

It is annoying to buy the conversion kits, but I think its understandable FFG couldn’t just give out all that cardboard for free (though a print-your-own packet would’ve been a nice gesture). Not sure what I’m going to do for my 12 TIE fighter models (as an example), but I won’t be buying multiple copies of the conversion kit - probably self-printing any extra dials I need.

Also, I bought the new tie single, as it does have a few pilots that I don’t think are in the base starter or conversion kit (the Inferno squadmates). The TIE model itself seemed as sturdy as any of my others and I dare say the paint job is certainly better than some of my older ones. A bit of a downer though to buy an extra TIE (of which I already had more than I need) at $20 just for essentially a dial and about 3 extra pilots. I don’t think I’ll be investing in the other single ships - I dare say I have enough ships to keep me busy for years now.

It’s just the app that is an issue at this point. I had to download it to put together my list and I wanted to tear my hair out. It’s not feasible to try and run the game from the app (which I was going to attempt for an Imperial list as my copy won’t arrive until today), and there’s noticeable bugs (including wonky stuff like <italics> tags showing up on ship names. It is also a bit annoying not to have the points on the cards themselves, though I know they did this for future-proofing. Hopefully they get this straightened out quickly enough, but it’s a poor initial launch.

While I expect I’ll be playing 2E almost exclusively, I won’t be parting with my 1E cards and such, the old version still has some charm, and still plays pretty good (And I’m expecting to try out Aturi Cluster with a new player). And you don’t need an app...

I would advise against using the app for a good month or so until all the bugs have been ironed out (they couldn't even get points right).

On the conversion kits thing I have only two niggles, I am not at all bothered by lack of tokens but the lack of bombs was both a surprise and an irritant. The only way to get them is to buy more v1 stuff...
Second issue is the very odd distribution of tiles/cards/dials I cant fly all my Vipers but I can fly three quadjumpers? Only two of the elite generic Fang pilot? The way they have been distributed is very odd, thankfully as a Scum exclusive player this wasn't too bad but my brother plays Imps and that kit is just taking the piss, 3x TIE/in but 2x decimator...

Actually, all the 1ed tokens changed in 2ed. The new shield tokens are 1/2 the size of the 1ed tokens, and they include a red side to represent disabled shields. The lock tokens changed the most, being again, 1/2 the size of the 1ed, and numbered 1-6 with a white and black side to the single token. Only six were included in the starter set. None in the conversion kits.

The point of the conversion kits was to provide the player with all the cards, dials, and tokens to allow them to play with their models from 1ed to 2ed. It bothers me that I'll have to use a mix of old and new tokens for certain builds until enough new ships come out and I'm able to replace all my 1ed tokens. Game breaker? No. Minor complaint? Yes. Will it prevent me from playing the game? No. Just an observation, and it would have been nice to get more than 4 shield tokens and 6 locks out of the starter set, Empire, Rebel, and Scum conversion kits.

While I do agree that more would have been nice unless you have regen it doesn't matter in the slightest, also I got the Scum Falcon and now have enough for any list I am thinking of using especially as the number of shields on ships went down pretty much across the board. And with the locks I am going to carry on using my Nationals acrylics and if anyone complains then they can bugger off.
