Hi all,

I'm old enough that I can remember getting White Dwarf back when 'Eavy Metal was a hotbed of creative activity, not just a way to make the latest GW products look shiny. I remember elaborate dioramas, Star Wars toys converted into amazing 40K vehicles, and green stuff being used to give metal minis wildly original mutations. I used to get a fresh infusion of inspired, bizarre, off-the-rails British Sci-Fantasy modeling once a month, and I sorely miss it. There's nothing like it being published today.

Or rather, there wasn't, until Maelstrom's Edge came along. The Comm Guild website (http://www.thecommguild.com/roller/thecommguild/) has been putting up a steady stream of inspired modeling courtesy of Insaniak, complete with well-written step-by-step tutorials and photos of the models in progress.

I know Insaniak isn't the only talented modeler / converter out there, and that many other such folks strut their stuff right here on dakkadakka. I mean no disrespect to them - I enjoy their work, too. But I do think Insaniak is particularly good, not just at converting / modeling but also at explaining / teaching how he did it. And I'm old and nostalgic enough to wonder if it might be worth collecting his best articles in a printed Maelstrom's Edge modeling / painting compendium. I know this is 2018, and Insaniak's Comm Guild work is already available on the net for free. Would a glossy "Citadel Compendium" style soft back magazine or a hardback book collection of The Comm Guild's best be worth the printing cost to Spiral Studios, or worth testing the waters with a Kickstarter campaign for a limited edition? I have no idea, I just thought it was worth asking.

I hope Insaniak will take this inquiry as a compliment and a thank you for his work. If a printed collection is worth considering, great. If not, I understand.

Thanks for the kind words... Always nice to hear that your work is appreciated.

I'm not sure that a book would be feasible just now, but I certainly like the idea And something not focused specifically on MEdge, like a wargaming terrain book, could potentially have some legs... Not a project for right now, but food for thought when I can get some breathing room in my schedule

I'm glad you took my enthusiasm as the compliment it was meant to be. I like the idea of a general wargaming terrain book, when and if that works out.
