Still tweaking my Nova list Having issues getting in to peoples back fields for grabbing objectives, etc so I added an Elysian detachment. Also started playing around with the bombard. I like to think of it as my dark reaper killer (or anyone who thinks they're safe with a 2+ cover save - but especially dark reapers...hate dark reapers).

Pask being Cadian breaks your Catachan spearhead. You can of course drop him into the battalion.

I would definitely try to drop a psyker in with the Elysians. If you face a lot of Chaos and want Lost Relic you are going to be down a lot of CPs fast without a second battalion.

Is the Bombard really a great Dark Reaper clearer if they stack minuses to hit? Not too familiar with it so more curious about your experience.

Ah, yeah I got Pask happy there...dropped him for a second tank commander. I think I like the rerolling a blast die more then hitting on 2's

I thought the deal with dark reapers was putting them in cover and then concealing them...hadn't thought of the making them harder to hit. Well - bombards looks good against other stuff to I think. S=6, AP=-2, D=2, ignoring cover, 2D6 shots rerolling one of those will kill dudes. I can also just shoot at the dark reaper unit that I can hit normally - can't make them all hard to hit.

I hear ya about the lost relic and chaos is pretty popular these days that's a good idea. Can I add a primaris psyker to the Elysian detachment? I didn't see one in the index for them.

I'm also hoping Kurov's Aquila helps me out a little with the lack of CP (5+ gets you a CP when your opponent plays a stratagem)

I do not have the FW Index on me but my recollection is that Death Korps and Elysians have their doctrines baked in without needing a pure detachment. Because of this you can add a Primaris psyker out of the Codex to make an Astra Militarum keyword battalion. No longer Elysian but again for the FW regiments I do not believe this costs you anything.

But if I'm not Elysian then I can't 'deepstrike' right? That's what I was wondering - if I would loose that ability by adding a primaris psyker...

If you read the Elysian entries in the FW Index you will see that Aerial Drop is not dependent on being in an Elysian detachment.

Who are going to be your engineer units per the nova format?
