Hey guys, sorry if this has already been asked, I think I remember seeing a thread similar to this a little while ago but can’t find it.

Was wandering if there was an easy enough way of stripping bases? Would like to re-base my models and they currently have a thick layer of orange dirt. If it’s not doable I can just buy some new bases but if I can, then it’d save me a bit of money.

Also if there is a thread with all the answers could you link me?

Thanks in advance

In my experience texture paint, especially when thick, can be pulled off in nice big, easy, chunks of almost rubbery material. Try just picking at it or poking it with a hobby knife. Worst case scenario your usual stripping agent should break it down and make it feel off fine.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

I would try scraping it off with either a thick-bladed hobby knife or with a sculpting tool.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

A chisel tip on an xactor knife should do it quite easily I'd think.

I had some positive results soaking overnight in Glanzer (ammonia), as for regular paint but since it was second hand miniatures, I can't say what was used. I still can say it was not sand + PVA glue since the residue was paint-like, not mineral.

Awesome thanks for all the replies guys, wasn’t sure how easy it’d be but the knife is scraping it off perfectly. Thanks a lot

A GW manager (who I trust quite a bit) just told me to put them in Simple Green. All GW paints (including texture paints) are water based acrylics. So, using the same process for stripping any other paint should work on Texture paints as well.
