I just thought of this, see I just ordered Hecaton Aiakos, which is a pretty damn good Contemptor Dreadnought that is pretty dangerous in melee and in range, but it's over 300 points so it's probably not worth it in the slightest.
I'm still probably going to use it.
So what about all of you?
What over costed minies do you use, just because they are cool?

Hellions! Love the psycho Green Goblin models even though they're probably the least effective Drukhari fast attack option. They hit decently hard, but they're just the easiest 14pt model in 40k to kill. T3, 5+ save, no defensive options/abilities. . .

Scarab Occult Terminators/Terminators in general because they look cool.

Possibly Guardsmen with Meltas as I have them (along with the Plasmas).

Tau Cyclic Ion Blaster Crisis Suits, 303 points of "meh" that's never impressed but always disappoints. I always use them though, because I love the damn things and it simply feels wrong not to use them.

Here's hoping for a points drop in Chapter Approved.

I run ork dreadmobs, so deff dreads and killa kanz. Most agree they are pretty much garbage. I can't remember the last time I had a deff dread make it in to combat. I mostly take them for armor saturation. I love my gorkanaut, and it does real work, but without any other armor on the table it's a waste.

My whole army is considered to be overcosted.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Chosen and Possessed, but hey...they work great in Warhammer Total War. Hang on, logic fail there I think.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I'd like to dispute the claim that Scarab Occults are overpriced. I think they're actually one of the only terminator units that aren't! I've had massive success with them compared to their normal terminator cousins, mostly because with power swords and inferno combis, they are incredibly cheap for the amount of -AP they can bring, and their ability to all but shrug off 1 damage fire really helps. Sure, they still get hurt by plasma like any other terminator, but everything in the game has a counter.

Some are more overpriced then others. Last time I took my Land Speeders out I felt that I was being charged quite a bit more then they were worth.

I use Wraithblades with ghost axes quite a bit in my Eldar force. They are definitely overpriced, but I make up for it by using all the efficient stuff like Wave Serpents, Dark Reapers and Eldar flyers. It works out fine, and the Wraithblades make a nice anvil/objective holder. The models look great too.

Blackstars. They're not durable, they're not killy, and they're not great transports, but they give me fractionally more flexibility/mobility than I might have otherwise and they look pretty awesome.

Vanguard vets, not so much that they are overcosted per say but the way power weapons don't gain extra attacks from charging or having 2 melee weapons makes them very lack luster.

Killa Kanz because they are the first model that made me want to start a 40k army. Sadly as shooting platforms they suck. Use to roll with mass grotzookas in 7th but I just go skorchas and punch things to death.

Speeders are probably getting double-whammied for Datalink Telemetry. Whirlwinds too.

Centurion Devastators need to be substantially cheaper too.

Things I still use?

1) On occasion, my Chaos Space Marine terminators, though my group has just introduced a couple house-rules across the board for Terminators so that'll help. But simply put they're garbage for their points. And not "3% less likely to..." but woefully bad.

2) I still use the Avatar on occasion, an equally atrocious unit.

3) I still use Chaos Assault Marines, Howling Banshees and Striking Scorpions and they all generally suck bags of taint compared to Ork Boyz, etc.

There are some models I haven't purchased because they're so bad (and I'm speaking as a narrative gamer), like the Wraithknight - arguably the worst unit in the Eldar codex.

Haven't used or built them yet, but I'm trying to organize a Terminator brawl with my brother. Deathwing vs Black Legion Termies in a city fighting scenario.

Other than that nothing comes to mind... do Melta Scions count?

Praying to get a game of 9th edition in before Summer.
