In these days of instant internet outrage, I'm surprised dakka search comes up with nothing, and there obviously wasn't any reaction to this show of contempt for their own readers on GW's side considering the tweet is still up almost 1 months later.

Couldn't find any outrage, so thought you would try to start some?

Your thread title doesn't actuality reflect what is said in that tweet.

There's three times that much vitrol in the average Dakka Dakka post. Hell, the 'I Buy BigBusted alts of my favorite miniatures' crowd tends to wield man-child around like a trophy - kind of owning it in a weird way.

Kind of highlights why I rarely bother to ever look up the poeple who create stuff I like. I accept that whilst I might like something created by another, it doesn't mean that the creator is a nice person; or even likes what they made or their fanbase or anything. So yah stuff like this rarely if never affects me.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

I would make a snarky comment about proving him right by missing the context, but I want to be fair and can't assume English is your primary language. In any case, he is not being serious, and reading his entire tweet thread should make it clear that he is humorously writing in the persona of the monster role he often plays in the complaints of displeased fans. It's like when customers claim retail workers have ruined Christmas, and the workers sarcastically pretend they love it.

Josh Reynolds has written plenty of great BL novels. His take on Arkhan the Black in one of the EndTimes novels is my favorite approach to the character, and the Skaven in the novel were up there with the best of King's and Werner's.

I don't know Josh Reynolds personally and haven't read any of his books. I did listen to the interview with him on Combat Phase and he struck me as someone who did care about the setting and the lore, but like many Black Library authors he writes many books because he is paid to and is willing to write books that he knows will make some of the fans angry.

He has also, according to the interview, received a lot of crazy letters and death threats from unhinged Warhammer fans who are far too deeply emotionally invested in their own headcannon.

Looking at the tweet, I would guess that he's not referring to the Warhammer fandom as a whole as mewling man-children, but rather the relatively small subset who send him hyperbolicly angry messages.

I think it's worth extending him the benefit of the doubt on this. At the same time (while I don't approve of hateful messages and death threats) I don't feel overly bad for him because every fan base has a minority of crazies and he seems to know what he's getting into.

He rarely posts on forums due to how certain people in the fanbase behave. I can't even imagine how people treated him due to the fact he wrote the last end times book.

I am not shocked by his outlook. Plus as the mod said, what you are saying here and in the title does not exactly match the tweet.

I'm more concerned about the posts in response. The idea anyone could get outraged by such a statement is obscene. He didn't attack any marginalized groups, advocate for rape, or express a pro-Trump stance.

Where's the justification for Internet outrage?

We'd better hope Yod doesn't find this thread.

He won't like the idea that being unhappy with GW's treatment of WFB can be dismissed with "impotent rage of a thousand man-children".

Anyway, really this thread is just more proof that:

1. Twitter is Digital Cancer.
2. Twitter needs to die a horrible and sudden death.

Reynolds is not wrong though, especially when taking into account how the average 4chan user would (and did) respond. And why are people taking a tweet so serious anyway?

I'd actually already found it and was long aware of the comment before you guys posted, but as a fan of Star Trek, Warhammer Fantasy, and Star Wars, at this point I'm fairly inured to snobby creatives reacting to a handful of berks with "jokes" that tar whole fandoms(except those who're willing to performatively discard their own appreciation for something in a sycophantic display to gain Social Media Points from Daddy, of course) as manchildren/whiny babies/[insert insult here].

It's not like my opinion of them is particularly high either.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

‘Mewling impotent manchildren’ seems to accurately summarise a significant proportion of responses to the End Times IMO.

Soooooo... fair enough.

1. Who gives a damn about 4Chan?
2. So what if they did? There were far more people who loved WFB than who posted on 4Chan.
