Looking for advice, I'm thinking about joining an escalation league starting out at 500-1k first few weeks then expanding from there, figured it was the perfect time to flex out my army and come up with a list for 2.0 plus a good way to continue to learn Nurgle. Now I'm still new to papa Nurgle so i'm getting the hang of whats good and what isn't.

This is what I've been thinking for 500pts
Allegiance: Nurgle
Harbinger of Decay (160)
- General
- Trait: Pestilent Breath
- Artefact: The Witherstave
5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
Total: 480 / 500
Wounds: 47

For 1000 not sure if I want to keep Harbinger or go GUO as general. or maybe LOA to have 2 PGBL as battleline something like this?

Allegiance: Nurgle
Leaders
Harbinger of Decay (160)
Lord of Afflictions (220)
- General
- Trait: Hideous Visage
- Artefact: The Witherstave
Festus The Leechlord (140)
- Lore of Malignance: Blades of Putrefaction
- Lore of Foulness: Cloying Quagmire

Battleline
5 x Putrid Blightkings (160)
2 x Pusgoyle Blightlords (220)

Units
3 x Nurglings (100)

Total: 1000 / 1000
Wounds: 67

You seem to have a good idea of what you want to run and how to make a solid list out of it. I could give advice on making it stronger but I doubt an escalation league is about bringing the most OP army possible. The non-scaling nature of Nurgle summoning will give you a large advantage from the onset (unless it's against Seraphon, but then everyone loses to them at every points level so there's little to be done).

Blightkings are extremely powerful in a casual setting, Pusgoyle's aren't bad, LoA is strong in small games, you seem to know how strong Witherstave is already, and to take Festus over a regular Sorcerer. Do note that you only get one spell total, not one spell from each lore (this is different from other, more magic-heavy armies). Blades is really the go-to here.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Thanks for the help on the spells and the tips! I'm going to dial a few things back a bit for brand new players that jump into this league I want AoS to grow more in my area hopefully to keep these new players this time, but I already see " that guy" vets "practicing" new lists in this against those same newer people. As we move into the 1500-2k bracket I want to try to optimize my lists and play to the best I can more for those individuals xP.

"those guys" clubbing baby seals will always be an issue all communities have to deal with unfortunately.

Really your options are to teach the new guys how to powergame as well, or they have to decide if its worth the hassle. Some of them will stick, others will find something else to do with their time.

I hear you it does suck hopefully, it'll come down to the new guys knowing whos who and not playing "those people" and them weeding themselves out because no one will play them. I try to be a lightning rod for the newer guys, just hard counter the "seal clubber" make them only want to face me to reinflate their ego as funny as it sounds .

But back to the game I'm not sure if I want to go more mortals in 1500-2k or start mixing more demons in.
