I can't help but notice that BolS has been running a lot of articles recently about fem marines.

Do they know something I don't? I mean, the comment section on the articles is the usual sewer of trolls, misogynists, and some Youtube trolls, so no useful information there. It does sort of fit with some things I've heard about GW trying ot expand the IP into other media, so..

I mean, the new artist they got, the one from Eagle Ordinary, has done art of both fem marines and male SoB in the past, so....

It's easy clickbait and gets hundreds of posts in minutes. So of course they're going to ride that pony into the ground.

You know, the search menu must be broken because I looked before posting and found nada. And if you're this worked up over only *days* of it, I've been seeing it for 'decades'.

So, it's a self fulfilling prophecy then, BoLS makes articles on Femmarines, fem marines trends, gw sees trend, GW creates fem marines. Gotcha.

this it's click bait nothing more, BOLS knows nothing, simply looking at their articles confirms this, lots of rampent speculation with an eye towards being clickbait, reviews long out of date suggesting they don't even get "early copies for review" etc.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

This. They're the National Enquirer of 40k at this point.

No, GW is the National Inquirer of 40k, you can't believe a word those guys say.

I wouldn't read too much into it, since why would they know more than us? Everything they post is either from the community site or an event where GW reveals something.
So most likely scenario is they're just running low on their click totals, or they're really convinced they are the crusaders of femarines.

Also, it's poor form to call out people as trolls/misogynists etc... since you aren't giving a fair representation of their arguments and/or beliefs. I mean, I don't doubt that many are like that but it's a poor way to start a discussion since many are likely none of those things.

No, they'd be a stage magiacian as they know what's going on but mislead you in order to surprise you.

BoLS is like TMZ: basically dreck and nonsense for attention.

You know, now that i think about it, there has to be a market for it, just due to the sheer number of people who post, write, and all sorts of other stuff about this issue.

I mean, this is something that actually predates the internet, since people put forward female space marine chapters back when the only thing 40k appeared in was those paper things called 'magazines'...

The first forty five posts I read on hte first article I opened were in the vein of 'back to the kitchen' and 'barefoot and preggers for life'. So....

They wish they had me. I actually offered to write them a better article on it, as unlike most I do know of a few fluff loopholes that would allow it without changing canon.

Your first mistake was going to BoLS. Your second was actually reading the obvious clickbait and your third was reading the comments.

That's basically triple heresy.

It's the only 40k news site I can get at work. So, I have to work with what I got. Dakka is blocked so no lunchbreak posts for me.

I rarely see those kinds of comments so IDK. (outside of youtube at least) and they tend to be a minority. I suspect most get buried/deleted pretty quick. But still, not a great way to start a discussion IMO, since it sets a certain tone.

Anyway, just stick to the community site for news.

But if you want theories and speculation, I would say that the distinct lack of female Primaris is a decent indication for the future. (not fool-proof since things change but that's really all we've got)

Cursed Founding allows for an unknown number of chapters with geneseed altered in unrecorded ways. Given some of the examples in that founding, fem marines wouldn't be too out there.

A lot of people like to drag out the whole -4 Str thing, but assuming that it isn't genetically altered in the next century, it would no longer be a 'thing' by the 23rd millennia anyway, so by 40k, it's not really a valid argument.

What? Genetically, sexual dimorphism is like the little toe, it's a trait that humans are slowly losing. By the time period of 40k, assuming the trend continues, by the time the Emperor reveals himself, it'd be long gone, during the Dark Age of Technology.

BoL much like the OP is pushing a narrative that they want to force down a companies throat. It an unnecessary move that GW doesn't need to make. If they choose to make Femmarines that's fine but they shouldn't be pushed to do by a bunch of schmucks.

Yes, the terrible narrative of 'I would buy that'.

They can choose to make it or not.

BTW: Dkoz, I have to ask, who's sock puppet are you? I mean, 2011 and less than 200 posts? Thargrim, only a 1000 since 2009? Come on and post with your main accounts. Neither of you ever post, but you immediately appear in this thread like summoned djinn.

Nice over dramatic response by the OP who has to fall back on some ad hominem attack on how long I've been a member and my number of posts.

All I said was it should be up to GW if they want to make Femmarines not something forced on them by a bunch of whiney SJW. If they can advance their IP fluff in a way that actually works with out seeming forced good for them.

Yes, and I agreed with that, and you ignored it to keep insisting that I'm pushing a narrative.

And, considering you fell back on insults, you have no room to complain that I questioned your honesty.

Further, saying 'I would buy that' or 'there may be a market for this' is hardly 'forcing' anything down anyone's throat. The only one trying to force a narrative here is you.

Have you not seen the myriad other posts on this exact subject?

If not it may be worth taking a look, also I know I’m being cynical here but why do these always turn up on a weekend?

I haven't insulted anyone I just pointed out the type of people making this foolish argument.

Its just sad that a company can't make up its fluff as it sees fit with out SJWs accusing them of some moronic patriarichal accusations unless they include Femmarines.

This is something I suggested on another thread, rather than deleting and locking this thread, can it be moved to off topic instead.

Well, since clearly you neither read my argument at all (I pointed out how it there is a loophole that would allow it, and that BoLS article sucked) and said none of the things you say I accused GW of, I have to conclude this is a straw man.

As I said earlier I tried to search this exact subject and came up with *nothing*. So i think there's something wrong with the search, because I know that there have been threads about this stretching into the dim past. I just wondered what was going on that BolS was suddenly posting so much about it.

To be honest, I think the best approach would be to do like was done with the politics threads, and just have one thread for it so there's less wrangling.
