I am curious if there is a relationship with everyone's MBTI (myers Briggs type indicator) and if they play Warhammer, and further if that has had an influence on your army choice.

Just looking to satisfy a curiosity and seeing if there is a trend in 40k players as a whole

If you don't know your MBTI - https://www.16personalities.com/free-personality-test

I'll start...hi, I'm Mike. I am an INTP and favorite army to play is Grey knights

I don't think there is a correlation. Many gamers fall into an introverted category, but our interests in armies vary wildly.

I am an INTJ. I play chaos, necrons, and eldar. My necrons are more defensive based. My eldar are much more attack oriented. My death guard are more defensive based. My thousand sons more attack oriented.

I am also INTP. I don't think you will find an army correlation. Just that lots of on INT people will play board games.
I play almost every army but marines and GK are my main armies.

Problem with trying this is that you might find there's a correlation between a Meyers-Briggs type and being a wargamer in the first place.

(INTJ, Eldar, Marines, Inquisition, Tzeentch, for your data set.)

Apparently I'm a INTP-T, but I could have sworn I was a INTJ earlier. Idk, I find these tests unreliable. Anyway, I play necrons, orks and lizardmen. And I mean lizardmen, not Seraphon. Get that AoS gak out of here.

You won't, beyond some very broad trends of what kinds of people tend to be wargamers in the first place, but trying to link it with a garbage personality test certainly isn't going to provide anything useful.

Just a note on the Myer's-Briggs personality test: it's been widely discredited by psychology and the only place it is used is by clueless HR people who are trying to stupid their way into more enumerable job candidates.

And this isn't a recent thing. It has been discredited for a long time.

INFP-T and:
40k - CSM (Khorne/Tzeentch), Eldar, Tau, Necrons
WHFB (when it existed) - Lizardmen, Warriors of Chaos, High Elves
Flames of War (I know) - Soviet Tankovy, British Armoured Recce, German Czech Panzers, German Panzerpioneers

Good look unravelling all of that and trying to make connections; I'm not personally convinced there's any meaning to it at all As far as I'm concerned, Myers-Briggs is just a fancy Buzzfeed-type quiz: a little bit of fun to do when bored and compare ultimately meaningless results with friends.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

While cute, those personality tests are wildly unreliable and people aren't one static personality type and can fluctuate depending on other factors.

For fun mine was a INTP-T but the middle two (NT) are very close to 50% while the others are more pronounced.

Play Orks, Tau, Spess Mahreens (customer chapter), Space Wolves, and Inquisition with Scions + GK.

Apparently INFP-T as far as random online tests go I guess.

I haven't really played much since 8th dropped and have messed around with a few units here and there to try to get a feel for whatever army to start for 8th. But, in the past I've played Space Marines, Eldar, Iyanden, Sisters of Battle, and Slaanesh Daemons.

At the moment I'm working on Harlequins with the intention of finally getting that new 8th ed army running.

What attracts me to armies is the theme of it, playstyle to an extent, models, how popular the army is overall (I'd rather go with a lesser represented force really, cause they can be neat to come across), and I suppose how much "your dudes" you can get away with. I wouldn't bore anyone with any random lore or whatever for the armies (I've had to sit through it a couple of times and it's not always the best), but I like the idea of being able to have some sort of head canon going for the army; while fitting in with the existing lore more or less.

Also I guess the model count. If I were to try to run a horde army I'd never get to play.

The test has variations. I swing from ENTP to INTP depending

I have Dark Angels, Tau and Guard armies. If anything I guess I mean toward gunline type.armies rather than close.combat armies, although I did have a BA army anyone point.

MBTI is just a means of catergorizing common personality traits. I wouldn't use it for any psychological/legal/scientific means. Just a curiosity. On another note, after I posted this thread, I found another forum had done this. Interestingly enough, most 40k players (according to the 400ish responses) were INTP, INTJ, or INFP. There were very few 'sensing' 40k players as most were 'intuitive'. Which means certain personality types are attracted to 40k (SHOCKER) and there is trend data forming to show support that there may be something to this test. This is not pseudoscience or superstition, more of a recognition of personality trends for categorization.

I am curious what your MBTI is

Enfp-A (the campaigner).

I play black templars and orks! It makes sense though that since I go more by "feelings" than logic that I stick with those armies even though they are not often the best choice rules wise.

I have a GK army and got the “The Logician” (INTP-T) result.

If you have to kill, then kill in the best manner. If you slaughter, then slaughter in the best manner. Let one of you sharpen his knife so his animal feels no pain.

Meyer Briggs is pretty heavily discredited if I remember correctly it was made up by people without any scientific background which is why you can get different results depending on your mood. I mean a lot of places used to it and it's kind of fun to do but I'm not sure how scientific you really end up being.

Which Myers-Briggs results would you like? I can give you a different result every day of the week.

I don't have Grey Knights. I don't like the models. I'm sure MB can correlate that to breakfast (muesli) or something.

If you gives someone a broad selection of positive character traits, they tend to find something in the list to associate themselves with.

That said, its not the worst system out there, its just drawing hard lines where they don't exist. People don't actually min-max their stats like they do in an RPG, so they tend to 40/40/20 these kinds of things rather than sit firmly on one side of the fence or the other. It's just generally more fun to make people where the Sorting Hat and give them an over simplistic label than acknowledge that people are complicated and ever changing.

Says INTP-T... Whatever the feth that means.

I don't need a test to tell me I'm a bonafide sociopath! I think they have a less Steven Kingy name for it now but I've read about it and man, do I check off boxes like a professional box checker at a box checking competition!

Extremely introverted, despising of social norms and always looking for ways to cheat the system and play by my own rules. No faith in institutions such as government, banks, education or justice systems, no attachment to familial values or societal standards.... I could go on.

I play World Eaters!

Honestly though, why would you want to take part in a society as disgustingly inhuman as modern western? Buy Coca Cola, hate other cultures, and watch Justin Bieber do blow and mess up his life. I'll pass thanks.
