The main trilogy has lost all my interest, but I’m still excited for the side stories, if they’re still happening.

Last I read on it was Solo did so poorly the brakes were slammed on all side story films in the works. Disney's starting to get skittish.

Nothing is cancelled. And seemingly nothing is on hold. Disney themselves have said that.
Rian Johnson’s trilogy is still on, as is the other planned trilogy.

Seems it stemmed from a single article, and wishful thinking.
When we look at the story behind the making of Solo, it seems pretty obvious Disney were expecting a hit. Large amount of reshoots increased the budget, and the advertising seemed somewhat subdued in the run up - possibly (speculatively) to avoid the budget increasing even further.
And it’s a shame, because it’s a fun little adventure with various and sundry pleasing nods to what came before, and what comes after.
Again, one wonders at the credulity of people on the Interwebs. There was a single, unsubstantiated drivel post vomited onto the net making all sorts of allegations.
Despite not being corroborated anywhere else, and simply coming from an ‘inside’ source (inside source often being tabloid shorthand for ‘made up’), it was treated as gospel. Certainly the end result bore absolutely no relation to what the ‘leak’ described.
I’m hoping it does good business on home media. It really doesn’t deserve its current standing.

Which is unfortunate, because Solo and Rogue One were ten times better than Force Awakens and Last Jedi. So far this trilogy has turned my favorite Star Wars characters into sad, uncharismatic shells of their former selves, just to empower the younger cast in a blatant nod to Disney having always been more concerned with their younger viewers.
Imagine if the new block of Avengers movies after Avengers 4 has characters that are all 20 somethings, and the original surviving Avengers all mope around and act like shells of their former selves. That's this new trilogy.
