So I just found a 10$ box of 5 guards, EZ assemble. This would mean I can fill out my troops without having to buy 25$ squad boxes. My point is, when did GW start these? I can't find them on the website, and my local GW Store says GW doesn't make them. Well I have the box they came in, and it's legit. It's 5x guardsmen with lasguns, two pieces each plus base. Is this a completely new thing, or a very old model box that was discontinued for not being cost gougey enough?
Do they make these "basic troop kits" for other races like Tau or Necrons?
When I get home I'll try and upload a pic to prove these are legit GW products.
Here is a link to a search I did online:

Yeah my local store has them. Off the top of my head I know they also have boxes of 3 Marines, 5 cultists, 3 intercessors, or 3 reivers.

The 5 man boxes have been available for a while now. Word of warning though, they're only really good for lasgun guardsmen, if you want to make a sergeant/vox/special weapons trooper you'll need to make them from a 10 man box.

As stated above, although you could get two of these and have 10 guardsmen for $20 instead of $25, you don't get any special weapons, squad leaders or the other odds and ends in a standard box set. Plus every model will be the same pose.

They still make them.
I only came in here to whinge about the term 'EZ'. Not many other places use the Z as Zee.

Also be aware that the ez-build ones aren't as nice as the standard ones. They come in I think 2 pieces and parts of them look a bit deformed supposedly.
I haven't seen them personally - just repeating what's been said on the forum. I think their lasguns are basically welded onto their chest and some of the shoulder-pads are strangely deformed.

I did not know these existed either. nice way to mrore cheaply turn 1 guard box into 2 10 man squads. for $49 instead of $58.
Are they liek normal guardsman bodies but you add arms from the kit or more like old snap fit where its like 2 pieces and weapons are part of it.

Snapfit, last time I checked.
I have a bunch of them. Used to be a LOT cheaper to buy lasguns that way. Currently, 10x Snapfit = $24 CAD, or 10x customizable dudes for $35.
Combine them for best results Sarge, Vox, Special and “2” dudes for a HWT leaves 5 lasguns per squad, at least. I don’t use Voxes these days, which is a shame because I find them to be iconic models and unique to AM.

They work, but be aware that a massive number of them look very 'Mordian' in their mono-pose.

I have bunch of those and orks. Nice way to bulk up though will want some full boxes as well to avoid same pose. Plus with orks lack of shootas hurt.

ork ones seem a waste. 4/$10 US means $30 for 12. $29 buys you 11 boys with more options or 10 boyz and a nob. though if they are also snap fit maybe the time saved would be nice if startign from scratch of adding say another 29 boyz plus nob squad.

I used 15 of them to bulk out my 50 footslogger Cadians.
They are the only way to play infantry heavy guard at acceptable prices (counts-as and recasts excluded) and when you live in the UK or EU 10 of them are half the price of a regular infantry squad box (which are a really bad deal considering the abysmal amount of bits in them).
Compared to the regular models you get 5 guys with 3 different poses and they got extras like water bottles modelled on them, which means they don't really stick out when mixed with regular models. Considering how limited the poses are that you can do with an infantry squad without kitbashing, even half your infantry models on a table being the snap-fit models wouldn't really be noticeable. If anything they stick out much, MUCH less than all of your sergeants literally being the same guy unless you use arms and heads from other kits.

I get 20 EZ for 27£ or 2 basic boxes for 32.4£. Sure they have less options BUT if I'm aiming for slugga&choppa that's hardly issue. It's not like all my boyz will be those. And when you need to buy like a 160 boyz...

Thing with Guard is, Lasguns are basically wound markers for your upgrades. You will literally grab them up by the handful when something spits at them.
When you are playing 1500 points, you will easily have 60 to 100 dudes, depending on your preferences. They are not special snowflakes... they are mud. Space filler. Wound markers for your Plasmaguns, Heavy Weapons, and maybe your Sarge. The simpler they are to deal with, the better. Even if you put 2-3 in each squad, you won't notice the same pose outside of your squads.
The quality isn't perfect, but you have to look close to see the difference with the custom boys. Plus, they used to have a slotta base, so the "running" guys don't break off all the friggin' time.
