Oh man, I wish we could take these guys in units of 20! But I guess that's what the Flayed Ones are for.

gobert wrote:The fishy elves came out great Gwyn, a suitable break from the grim darkness! You really seem to have upped your painting with these guys, lots of cool details, I especially like the fade on the orange tassels. The only tiny bit that bothers me is the bits of basing material on the sides of the base. A quick scrape with your knife or smooth with a file would sort that out a treat before painting the rim. Can’t wait to see the Murder Buckets finished too, such cool minis

A file! That's a great idea, that's been bothering me too, and my knife hasn't been doing a great job cleaning it up afterwards. Thanks for the compliment on the tassels! They're not quite as bright as the ones I did ages ago when first trying the scheme, on the Soulrender, so I'll have to try and brighten them up for the higher-ranked miniatures. I'm quite pleased with them, my painting really has improved so much from just a few years ago when I started this thread. And it's all due to you guys, this community, for your helpful tips and motivation!

Body is finished! First layer of "dots" placed on the purple, and the second layer placed on the facemask.

I'm gonna have to put some older models back on the queue to get this great weathered metal look, it's such an improvement over the boring clean steel look!

No worries, a nice wide needle file is what I use to remove basing overspill. It generally works well even at removing large overhangs. The rusty Murder Buckets are progressing nicely, the metal work is really nicely done

Thanks for the compliment, I'm quite happy with the weathered metal!

It did! Check it out at this link here.

Thanks Graven! I didn't take the photos at a good angle to see the glowy energy ball in the centre of the body. It was a bit tricky to paint tbh, because of the arms in the way. But for a cheap chaff unit, I'm quite happy with them!

Hey who wants a bonus?

Say hi to Johnny, the High School Quarterback from Last Night On Earth.

"With a flash of his smile, Johnny Miller can have nearly anyone eating out of his hand. The Quarterback of the high school football team, Johnny is one of the most popular kids in school. Though he was held back a year by Principal Gomez for failing nearly every class, he sees it as a golden opportunity to keep playing football in the hopes of getting a scholarship."

I didn't go off the official art for him, which has him in a blue jacket not a red one. But I definitely kept his sexy white undershirt that he wears in the rest of the art, including on the board game cover!

Johnny here is a tough fighter, winning fights on ties (normally Zombies win on ties), and he can use his good Football skills to continue moving past zombies after he's fought them. Like all the teens in the game, although he can't take as many hits before dying, he can heal instead of moving.

Good luck with the crappy join lines ! also, I have stolen your cotton wool idea for my Forest of the Dead bases for Brimstone/Forbidden Fortress so thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks Maharg! So far I have the Start Collecting (these guys, 3 eels and a Soulrender), the King, and a Soulscryer. I would love to expand this into a playable Age of Sigmar force. Unfortunately Idoneth are kinda monobuild right now, we'll see if the point changes shift that away from "only eels and sometimes some Sharks to switch things up".

inmygravenimage wrote:Good luck with the crappy join lines ! also, I have stolen your cotton wool idea for my Forest of the Dead bases for Brimstone/Forbidden Fortress so thanks for the inspiration!

Honestly, I don't plan on fixing the join lines. These were built gifts from a friend, and I'm out of primer to re-prime the green stuff that would be required to fix the join lines. Plus they're not battle legal for Age of Sigmar, so I'd only use them for Warcry.

I'm glad to see my cotton wool idea is spreading! An IRL friend is also using it for some of his D&D minis now, it's really quite easy and effective!

Speaking of easy and effective, how about some wooden handles?

So these guys have this little trim on their coats, a ribbon of sorts. So instead of doing that in skin, I've picked it out with red! Should help these guys stand out interestingly.

As you can see I've already started on the next colour, which is the bronze. But I forgot to bronze up the studs on the red ribbon! And tbh the red is way too bright, I'm gonna give it a wash or two to bring it back down.
