Seems like the game has mostly fallen off the map, especially since X-Wing 2.0. Do people still play? Has the game changed much since the first wave of units?

Plenty of people playing in Cali. The new units are definitely played, though I wouldn't say the meta has changed significantly. Its still largely trooper spam.

I got in on the cheap during black Friday sales. Having a blast painting them up but haven't played yet. The new units seem to be close conbat experts ( wookies and royal guard). Generic commanders are coming soon so you don't have to have expensive named characters.

There's a good chunk of people in my area who have it. They've even done a tournament last month.

Trouble is, they and others are often more focused on Star Wars Destiny...

Still being played in GA. It's fallen off a bit from the release hype, but still alive and kicking.

All problems can be solved with proper use of a high powered rifle and a water tower

It gets played some, but the big problem is just that there's no Rebel players. I'm not sure if they're actually weaker, but Imperial armies feel way cooler and get all the love at least around here. (totally part of the problem there...)

Still going strong in my area! The meta has opened up a fair bit, with much more variety in commanders and units available each side has four different "heroes" (three commanders and one operative), and all of them are used at least in some lists.

Right now the Airspeeder is very weak but most of the other units see a fair bit of play.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I'm still collecting the models I want, but I've struggled to find a group that leans towards the narrative play side of things rather than the more competitive focus that seems typical of FFG games.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?

I have to say that I'm very interested in this topic as well. I have an FLGS fairly close to me that I know sells the game and has tables open most of the time (as long as they don't have specific tournaments running that day). I just don't know if anyone is actually playing it. I also have a bad habit of buying way too much... like making sure I have enough miniatures for an entire army rather than just the starter to see if I enjoy it.

Well you could ask the FLGS staff. If there is a night that they notice Legion showing up they'll let you know. Or maybe have contact info for a home group.

It's interesting. FFG's normally quite competitive, but for Legion Organized Play has released a lot of narrative missions or "Operations" on their site - maybe see if there's interest in doing an Operation based event in your area?

I have at least two orders of magnitude less than zero interest in engaging with the Organised Play system. I like to play with a regular group of people who I know at least moderately well, enough to feel safe making cool conversions or non-standard basing in the knowledge there's no referee for them to go snivelling to because my counts-as Veers is 1.271mm shorter than the Official FFG Miniature, and no desire to do that kind of thing anyway.

One look at the reaction from most of FFG's usual crowd on social media to people choosing to put their models on thinner bases because the official plinth-thingies are awful demonstrated thoroughly to me that I just don't agree with the general attitudes among FFGs fanbase and never will.

Only having 2 factions is off putting to most wargamers, so I expect Legion's popularity will probably take off once the Clone Wars factions are released.

And since Legion is on the lower end of my priority list for painting, as soon as Clone Wars stuff come out, I might just sell what I have and buy a small Clone force.

I just quit the game today. FFG has unbalanced the game with Fleet Troopers and AT-RT spam backed up with Wookies and Han. Played Imperials and they have very weak troops and anything worth playing has to fight over the only three spots in the Special Forces slot.

That's a shame, I still haven't even taken the shrink off of the boxes I got from black Friday sales. Seems everyone locally plays Imperial though. Is that misbalancing due to FAQ/errata or just the bog standard units?

While I have some concerns over the state of the meta, this is pretty much a list of models that you don't see on the table. LVO top 6 has 3 rebel players with a single unit of Fleet Troopers split among them and none of the rest.

The meta is pretty healthy right now IMO. I just got back from LVO yesterday, and while I was there it felt like tons of different stuff was on the table. I played against two Imperial and three Rebel armies and a wide range of units and commanders - they said every unit in the game was in attendance, and I think the six qualifiers had three list archetypes (three Luke/Leia builds, two Veers/Boba, one Palpatine IIRC), with more than that represented in the top twelve - my final game was against Luke/Han, for instance.

I actually haven't been running Fleet Troopers. I know they're very efficient in theory but I prefer the extended range of the standard Rebel troopers. I ended up going with the 1.4 FD Laser Cannon instead of a Fleet unit, and I was very happy to have that cannon when I went up against an opponent who brought three AT-RTs!

What is the Empire's answer to AT-RTs that doesn't leave your junk swinging in the breeze for a turn or two?

DLTs are a pretty good answer to most questions, honestly.

Snowtroopers with Impact Grenades can also tear through armor.

its still the #1 game around here by a wide margin. Guild ball is #2, then Warmahordes.

Depends on what your own army is. Each of the Imperial characters offers different options:

-Veers has Maximum Firepower to inflict some early damage.
-Boba Fett's Jetpack Rocket can combine with his EE-3 Carbine for an attack with both Impact and Pierce, doing heavy damage to an oncoming vehicle.
-Darth Vader's lightsaber is extremely strong against vehicles, and it keeps its Impact and Pierce 3 when using Saber Throw.
-Palpatine can use Pull the Strings to allow your other troopers to attack twice in a turn, allowing you to get the most out of your other squads with Impact weapons.

Then, you can also augment those with other aspects:
-Stormtroopers with DLT-19s can split fire the DLT onto AT-RTs while the normal Stormtroopers fire at enemy infantry, or it can combine both to look for more crits.
-Snowtroopers with Impact Grenades do huge damage to armor, but have to get close.
-Speeder Bikes and AT-STs both have strong weapons against armored vehicles.

The best solution will depend on what type of AT-RT your opponent is taking. For instance, Snowtroopers with Impact Grenades are a good option against flamer or unupgraded AT-RTs, which have to come to you - but against rotary or laser AT-RTs, taking more DLTs is going to be more effective.

One thing your opponent might do is use Han's Reckless Diversion to force your anti-armor units to attack Han instead of the AT-RTs. To counter that, you can use long range options to engage early so you aren't counting on "one big turn", or you can melee Han (and another blocker if they haven't already activated it) to make them illegal targets for shooting, thus freeing up your guns.
