We know what's in Shadowspear, so what's gonna be the next Primaris unit?

With the new stuff being all "Deepstrike", I'm inclined to think other "fast" units are around the corner.

Maybe melee inceptors, light grav APC(capacity:5), grav heavy weapon platform, who know what else.

What are your thoughts?

all "POV" welcome; WAAC, CAAC, Garagehammer, whatever.

well the reivers strike me as the deep strike melee option so we've already got that.

Looking at what we have we have
Infiltrators - troops (battleline)
Reviers - Elites (a close attack unit. yes they came out before but I'm including them as vanguard units as they really seem to fit)
Eliminators - presumably elites (classed as a fire support unit)
Supressors - fast attack and classed as a fire support.

so yeah IMHO the smart money would be on some kind of close support unit.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Based on the vox cast with Jes, I expect a gravis wave and probably some other variant wave.

The current rumor is there will be 2 transports, not necessarily with this wave though.

But I'd like to to see a more dedicated anti tank Primaris unit and hellblasters with new grav weapons for just a little more than intercessors but less than plasma hellblasters

I'm amazed we haven't seen an upgrade kit for the Repulsor to turn it into a MBT.

I hoping for Primaris tanks and what not, as well as gravis armored fellows, and possibly a flyer.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

Hoping for some sort of bike or, even better, Jetbike unit. Maybe a primaris Land Speeder which would be nice.

Hover razorback seems to be one of the most needed units for primaris. Or even just a primaris sized rhino, something to move things like aggressors into a position where they can be useful.

I certainly hope they will receive a dedicated anti Armor unit. Building mono primaris without that kind of unit is a bit of a struggle.

Rumour engine has a couple which look like some kind of anti-grav transport - but other than Anti-Grav, probably Primaris (from it's styling), it's largely speculation.

I reckon the Bouncy Dakka Boys might get Lascannons to swap out for Autocannon.

Just speculation, mind!

I would like some class of Land Speeder Storm for Primaris, even if it only can carry Phobos armour units.

Also a flyer. Should be some class of gunship likes a Stormraven with transport for infantry and gravis. But hope not likes the Corvus, it must have Spirit of the Machine.

And more than new units, give the Reivers specialists cc weapons.

Would like to see some Devastator equivalents. Was hoping the Suppressors would fill that role, imagined a Gravis-armoured Primaris with the heavy weapon shoulder-mounted, HH style.

I speculate we'll get more S4, Ap - or Ap 1 weapons, more high-speed units with poor melee capability, and more melee/short range units without good delivery options.

I also speculate that the other option for Suppressors will turn out to be Heavy Flamers or an 8" ap 5 melta gun because those would be the most obnoxious possible things to add.

I would like a good option to replace devastated squads. Primarus need access to Las cannons and other heavy weapons other than Plasma Incinerators

I suspect some sort of bike equivalent (probably a skimmer) and some sort of speeder.

I don’t think GW will do more flyers (at least, leave that for FW) and I think they’re trying to shy away from non-transport vehicle models. I think they’re starting to realize infantry-scale models are better for the game, and will get them more sales if they are usable in 40K and Kill Team (and maybe Necromunda). Though I can see them still wanting to do larger showcase models (but only begrudgingly giving them 40K rules).

It never ends well

Be it that most Phobos units can deploy right in enemy territory, I don't really see a LSS being a necessary unit. Oddly, most Gravis units are incredibly mobile (somehow Aggressors are faster than Intercessors!). It is the Tacticus units(other than the Suppressors) that lack mobility. That is why I want a Razorback equivalent (or even a Rhino equivalent with not many guns and maybe a reduced capacity).

I wouldn't mind seeing a variant of the Suppressor Squad that is functionally the opposite. Tacticus Marines with jump packs, but maybe big Chainswords or Power Swords. Almost like a unit that the Suppressor Squad works in tandem with. They pin the enemy down, and the other guys clean them up. Maybe they don't even need guns, but even giving them just a Bolt Pistol would be fine by me.

I could see Eliminators getting an Anti-Tank variation. I would prefer that to the Suppressors getting a different weapon variation.

Infiltrators are likely getting different Bolt Carbine versions like how Intercessors have different Bolt Rifles.

Mostly I want a new transport for Primaris.

Unfortunately that ship has sailed, circumnavigated the globe, and come back laden with exotic spices. There are waaay too many large showcase models in the game already for shying away from releasing more to do any good.

In the category of "not being a salty [redacted]", I do actually hope that Suppressors get another decent option besides the AC. Not that Marines didn't really need access to the AC (and I hope they do something abouy how weird 33ppm Suppressors look next to 45ppm Inceptors), but I wouldn't mind another option. And despite my snarking, they wouldn't be a bad platform for Heavy Flamer or Multi-Melta based guns.

Also, Primaris Dawn Eagles. In tacti-cool instead of high-gothic scroll work. Make it happen GW.

And yes, Primaris really need Razorback/Rhino equivalents.

Specifically tied to Vanguard, I'm thinking:

-An Infiltrator based variant that doesn't come with the Omni-Jammers(or they cost extra points and were just considered as baked in for now). Something there just doesn't pass the smell test as a "basic infantry unit". They seem a bit more specialized than normal.

-At least two different Bolt Carbine options for Infiltrators, possibly with a Shotgun option as well.

-A character(either LT or Captain) with an option for an Eliminator rifle. Something keeps tickling my brain with that one.

-Suppressors getting a pseudo-mortar option and Lastalons.

-A vehicle of some kind. At least one, as the initial Primaris launch had two(Dreadnought and Repulsor). I feel Vanguard would benefit from a Flyer that can serve as a bomber or close support vehicle.

Honestly don't want anything more primaris. They're no longer space Marines and have completely invalidated three of my army's over 3000$ down the drain.

As a Salamanders player, YES PLEASE.

Aggressors sorta scratch that pyro itch, but they are slow and hard to get into position. Vulkan needs more buddies to buff.

I also wouldn't mind some Thunder Hammer units (in Gravis Armor maybe?), with or without Storm Shields.

Well it seems simple to expect a Phobo's armored Chaplain at some point.

Also now the Precedent is set, I wonder if you will see Gravis armor getting a second look. Librarian, LT's and maybe some kind of Troop squad choice of Gravis Armor. And maybe some kind of Heavy weapon squad in Gravis armor.

vehicle wise, I think Primaris should break the mold and go in some new directions. I think a Wing in Ground Effect over a flyer. A Tank that has them embarked but they don't pop out a hatch but get teleport out within 10 inches or something.

I'll second the Land Speeder idea. I doubt Primaris will ever get bikes, since Inceptors & Suppressors seem to be the way Primaris get around faster, but a 2-pilot gun platform of sorts could fit in well.

If GW updates only primaris with new rules, and fixed rules are linked to getting new models, and GW says that GK won't get primaris. AND GW does not produce any new models for old marines, the fact that primaris exists lowers the chance of a Grey Knight getting a new codex or being fixed with a CA, FAQ or WD article. No drama just facts.

LasTalons would be awfully expensive on Supressors, that's a 40 point gun.

I don't give a crap about Grey Knights. You are your own faction that just happens to have Power Armor--same as Sisters of Battle and Custodes.

PS: There's a whole Chaos range about to drop that puts your nonsense about "GW does not produce any new models for old marines" to bed.

A 6 marine, 7 ish wound transport with fire points would be perfect. A skimmer with an asscan would work great as an assault unit delivery system.

5 intercessors/hellblasters + an lt or chaplain would kick ass.
3 Aggressors would actually be a viable unit size.
plus the transport can provide close air support for said squads

Not entirely accurate, I am mildly concerned that dozens of my Havoc heavy weapons may not be viable as Havocs anymore. Luckily I've been testing variations of an all-marine list as a data gathering exercise, so if they all become tactical heavy weapons I will be at least less sad.

But it appears we're getting some kind of refresh, so I'll hold my complaints until I see the rules.
