Is 'Eavy Metal Calling?

Affton, MO. USA

I had picked up a couple boxes of the Afghani troops a while back that were damaged (Half price due to damaged cardboard ). I came up with a plan to use them in Kings of war but wished there were some on horses.....then I saw that they have mounted ones in tooling . So I am excited to say the least. Very nice kits.

Relic Miniatures and Wargames Atlantic did a crossover! More precisely, Relic made three sets of transfers designed to go with WGA's Late Romans. Great news for people that like Romans and hate painting shields.

This isn't a sarcastic reply, the WA website doesn't play with my works computers so I can't post the photos.

Yep two different styles, the WW1 style hood without a house that makes them look like a Brightburn/the Scarecrow/a horror movie villain and the WW2 style gas mask with a canister air filter.

The Friday e-mail seems to say they are showing two different British kits and one other (which may or may not be British) but I only see the space-brits and some kind of long-tailed animal (possibly an alien riding beast which looks like a therapod with a weirdly flexible tail). Or does the left-hand picture show a space-brit body and a historical brit head?

The two British sets seem to be infantry, and then British WW1 riding dinosaurs!

The second picture almost has to be a velociraptor (to my fevered imagination)

Not really, the recentest, 'news' about WGA's Ironcore range is the appearance of Valkir in their future release schedule, between the Goths and the Late Roman Army Builder.

I'd hope not, the tail is way too curvy for that.

There's an awful lot of people out there for whom Jurassic Park's fantasy take on Velociraptor will always be how they're supposed to look, regardless of what those pesky scientists say...

Apart from using a cooler name from a smaller dinosaur JP was cutting edge scientifically accurate at the time and deserves absolutely zero flak.

Jurassic Park even build itself an 'out' by mentioning that their DNA sequence wasn't complete so they had to fill in some gaps.

And they weren't originally meant to be velociraptors in jurassic park. They were calling deinonychus, which is what the raptors were, a species of velociraptor. Which whilst it had scientific precedent was a bit strange given their differences. Its like calling a wolf a species of fox.

Given that most therapods had very stiff tails i hope if it is a therapod its something like a ceratosaurus flexing its flexy tail.
Also at 6-8m long its actually a decent size for a dinosaurian mount. Not like some 4m achillobator or utahraptor whose light weight body is going to suffer under the burden of a rider.

A Ceratosaurus would be an extreme leap in size compared to every other previous WGA kit.

Well yes but it'd be awesome. But i imagine it'd be something utahraptor or archiballator sized to accompany the lizardfolk. Subadult ceratosaurs?

It's almost certainly going to be a fantasy / sci-fi dinosaur-like creature rather than a literal dinosaur of a specific species.
That tail would be too rounded and smooth for a ceratosaurus anyway.
