I'd miss them. the pull tab on the zipper is the same width as the fingers on the cyber limbs, so they fit together.

I'm sure they'll have the zippers. I'd buy some if they didn't, but I'm pretty sure those sets will be a big-zippers-no-thanks from me.

I hope the vets have 2 big zippers going down the front, and officers have 6, 2 in the front, 2 down the sides, and one on each sleeve.

I think that it's better to stay consistent for a given theme because it would look weird to have a few with small zippers mixed in with the big zippers guys.

It'll be totally fine when it comes out.

You see, the proportions look a big exaggerated and wrong/squat/etc in the renders, but there's no way you could possibly know that because you're just a consumer, regardless of how long you've been involved in the hobby or how many other model renders you've seen.

I agree.

Perhaps they could have changed direction with the female set, but maybe they were already all tooled together. In general I do often wonder how much companies asking for input are really asking for input and how much they're just trying to drive customer engagement.

Regardless, once your male and female core sets are done though, your kind of locked into an aesthetic. Big zips are likely here to stay, and in fairness, to WGA, it's one of the only obvious missteps I've seen from them.

Except that it looked bad in renders, bad on the sprue and bad in the painted pics. You don't have to be in the hobby a long time (though it helps) or a professional of some sort to recognize a bad design aspect, and you don't have to wait for a figure to be produced to confirm it.

There may be less than perfect aspects that aren't noticed and slip through the design and production process, but the inverse is not true. A noted bad design in a render will not magically resolve itself if left unchanged and put into production.

Maybe the folks at WGA just actually like the big zips. Given their decision to make some unexpected niche products I think there is a good chance WGA just make the models they want to make in the style they like. My remarks on the WGA Forum regarding the design of the Ooh-Rah sci-fi Marines elicited responses from Hudson Adams that suggests to me that while he will listen to customer input he makes the final decision to make what he likes. Which is his prerogative.

Yeah... I remember that conversation... and you aren't wrong in that feeling. Not Knocking WA or Hudson mind you, as I would probably do the same if it were my company. But I do hope he/they are open to feedback too though.

I wonder how well the cannon fodder sold. I mean if they are flying off the shelves then there really is no reason for them to change, and as was said its better to have a consistent look if they are selling well. I got my box. I will say the minis look female... which can't be said for all female minis. (Mantic Basilieans... I am looking at you) so gives me hope for more female kits from WA.

One of the bigger draws of the cannon fodder kit is a cheap source of not-lasgun wielding arms that fit a majority of the markets applicable plastics vs buying cadian lasgun bitz on eBay.

Which is also why I am happy i sell the sprues a-la-carte

Changing topic:

The goth torso's accept the death fields accessory sprue arms with no issue. The standard historical neck join makes this an easy conversion to theme as you wish.

Both of these sprues are available a-la-carte from me through mcdougalldesigns3d.com

I also have the goth boxed set up for $30 each if you get squirrely for a platoon.

Are you saying we're coming undone...?

Or perhaps we're losing our grip..?

Seriously though, I think the BNGs (big nasty zippers) are-and-should-be divisive, but luckily we all still seem to be on team "We like cheap minis".

Thanks. I'm going to put a Gasmask head on him and paint him up. The good thing about this is that the decline and fall range is meant to have all parts interchangeable between kits. This holds true for the goths and late romans (1), so the likelihood is this trend will continue.

Which means more excellent conversion possibilities, and sprue options from McDougall Designs.

McDougall... Wouldn't happen to be trying the same setup on some Conquistadors would you? You'd miss out on the poofy sleeves but I bet they'd look like some fancy shooters. Been really eyeballing that combo or with the Halflings and haven't seen any examples before I take the plunge.
Thanks!

The accessory arms do work on the conquistadors. A few require fiddling. Yes I'll get you an example shortly.

I appreciate the sentiment.

I try my best. I'm passionate about this hobby, and I've worked in a game shop previously.

When you need a job, and life has made it hard to hold down something else, you make your own way. I admit it helps that I had a good support system, but even still building something from nothing has taken time and effort.

I know it's sappy, but every order I get helps keep me going, motivationally and emotionally speaking.

Plus, I get to give back to the community I have enjoyed being a part of for the last 20 years and that has brought me comfort during hard times.

With every box I ship, I help further somebody's hobby journey. The next conversion. That new Army. That test sprue so you could try out a new paint scheme or play around with advanced techniques like OSL.

I apologize for the off topic tangent.

Max, you're probably the only person working in the industry who not only sells sprues for kitbashing, but is also willing to demonstrate how well a particular combo fits together. (And your latest examples do indeed go well together, btw.)

When you think about it, that's a huge help. Most of the time hobbyists with kitbashing dreams are stuck buying different sprues that we hope will go together for a given project, fingers crossed, and we only find out if it works after they arrive.

Of course. As a hobbyist I've shared those same frustrations. It's part of why I do business in the way I do.

Are there any other combos that anyone else is interested in seeing to help them make a purchasing decision?

Not a combo exactly… but since you carry both, do you have any assembled mantic halflings next to wargames Atlantic ones? Or any mantic halflings with wa heads/weapons?

I kind of want to make some dog riders but not if they will look too out of place next to my wargames Atlantic ones.

Belated, but here ya go:

As you may note, the mantic halflings are more like short men.

That said, if you are wanting to get some doggo knights fitting in with the Wargames Atlantic halfling look, I'd like to give you an option.

While I don't have any on hand to immediately show, Eccentric miniatures make a line of knightly helmets with a neck join that I just instinctively feel will look good with those bodies with minimal fitting-work.
