Well this is appearing sooner than I thought it would,
but with £5 million in investment money they should hopefully be able to get it done in good time (and finish off they stuff they've got outstanding, although I'm not clear whether the delays are down to making stuff or actually designing the games)

RE2 seemed to be out in record time didn’t it? Dark Souls seems to be the only problem and that’s clearly because of extreme scope creep. Nothing about this feels like it should e a problem.

I'm more of a fan of DMC than I am of Bloodbourne - BUT the Bloodbourne minis look really good, and CMON seems to really have the whole PVC miniatures thing down now.
How is Steamforged at it?
Do the RE2 minis look good?
Not too much warping, soft details, droopy weapons, etc.?
Because I'm now tempted to drop my Bloodbourne pledge and go in big on this one.
Help?
Thanks!

I've only got the animal adventures stuff out of the same factory, and while they're good I don't think they're quite up there with the CMON stuff, details are just a tiny bit less sharp
now whether that's down to the tooling or the plastic mix used I can't tell
so if you're mainly looking to pull the minis for something else i'd stick with CMON (or leave it at a $ and buy in during the PM if this doesn't suit)

Their PVC for Guild Ball seems to run the gamut from really very good to an actual exchange program because a model was so chronically miscast.
As I mentioned in the recent thread on the investment, they never seem to repeat the same error twice, which suggests they learn, but they always seem to find new ways to cock up, which suggests a certain naïveté or lack of strategic planning.
As a for instance, they announced they were pushing back their annual con to 2020 to allow more time for planning and to address other issues earlier this week, a good thing, and then today announced that the US national tournament was being held at an alternative event that was already sold out and couldn't accommodate any more players. A huge own goal.

So... retail, right?
* Dark Souls' gameplay has been poorly received by BGG, particularly after how well the Boss demo (which was the only gameplay demo'ed before the KS) was.
* Delays, although I'm backers will get their stuff.
* Less known IP, meaning the campaign will not raise as much funds.

..Devil May Cry is a less well- known IP? I dunno about that one.
I am quite curious as to how they'll translate all that high speed action into a board game.
RE2 showed up without many hitches for Barzam, not that we've played yet.
We've played Dark Souls a few times and have enjoyed ourselves.
I will be keeping an eye on this. I hope it turns out alright.

...I may call DMC a lot of things. "Less known IP" would certainly not be one of those:
The series has been a success with the all main entries selling multiple million copies and being awarded the "Platinum Title" award by Capcom. The success of the video game series has led to the creation of comic books, novelizations, an animated series, guides, collectibles, publications, and a variety of action figures. A high-definition remaster of the three PlayStation 2 titles was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012 and again in 2018 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. During the 2010 edition of the Tokyo Game Show, Capcom revealed a new game, named DmC: Devil May Cry. It was co-developed by Ninja Theory and Capcom. It was a reboot of the series that explores similar themes and also satirizes certain social themes.
At E3 2018, Capcom revealed a new installment in the original series, Devil May Cry 5, which was released on March 8, 2019.
As of December 31, 2018, the Devil May Cry series has sold 17 million units worldwide, with each installment receiving Capcom's "Platinum Title", awarded when a title sells over a million units. Devil May Cry 4 stands as the franchise' top-selling title, reaching 3 million units sold by June 30, 2015.
The Devil May Cry series has received overall positive reviews. In 2010, IGN placed Devil May Cry at #42 and Devil May Cry 3 at #18 in their "Top 100 PlayStation 2 Games". Devil May Cry has been cited as the beginning of a subgenre of action games called "Extreme Combat", which concentrate on powerful heroes fighting hordes of foes with a focus on stylized action. The game has also been described as being the first game that "successfully captured the twitch-based, relentlessly free-flowing gameplay style of so many classic 2D action games". The series has become the standard against which other 3D hack and slash action games are measured, with comparisons in reviews of games including God of War, Chaos Legion, and Blood Will Tell.
Dante's confident and fearless attitude have gained him popularity. He was ranked as the seventh of GameCrush's "Top 10: Most Badass Video Game Characters" list, and third among ScrewAttack's "Top ten coolest video game characters" list. The popularity of the Devil May Cry series led to a line of Devil May Cry action figures produced by Toycom. Japanese company Kaiyodo produced a similar line for Devil May Cry 2 and a Devil May Cry 3 Dante action figure.

BGG has this pipe dream of a full dungeon crawl with multiple fleshed out encoutners against a game driven AI, a mini boss and a major boss fight that includes character progression and loot choices and expects it to all be done in 90 minutes. Decent is pretty much the only game that's come close to meeting this demand, and that's by taking a 20+ hour experience and breaking it up like a game of DnD.
Dark Souls has problems though. The dungeon crawl isn't rewarding enough and its rewards are very static. Frankly though, once you've played it, you can simply skip it and just play the rather excellent boss encounters. As I said, the rewards are static, so just give them to the party before each attempt at the boss. The bosses take a good chunk of time on their own and fill up a great game session. The fact people feel compelled to replay the part they don't like kind of baffles me. Automatically Appended Next Post:
From what they've previewed I think they've got the right idea. It appears to be a cooperative game where you play as team DMC against waves of demons horde mode style, but competitive in the sense that you're competing for the most style points earned by chaining attacks and kills. Seems like its got a handle on what the series is really about at least.

It's an older IP that's languished for a while but recently just had a hugely positive comeback to old form so doing it now only a few months after that release is pretty good timing. During the PS2 era it was more popular then soulsborne style of games are today (17 million vs 13 million total sales in series) but it's very similar in that it was a tough game that influenced many game's combat systems for years after it released.
Also including Mario really isn't fare as even Metal Gear (54 million games sold) is barely known compared to Mario (262 million for just Super Mario games, 78 million for Mario car and 32 million for Mario party).

Hopefully they go all out on the baddies. DMC always had cool monsters, bosses especially.
Getting really nice Devil Trigger models (or dare I hope, Sin Devil Triggers) is going to be what pushes me into pledging.
I wounder how many Dante models we'll end up with by the end though, considering all the various forms, styles, DTs, and weapons they've used throughout the series.

Expect most of it to be DMC5. Capcom has a lot of say in what they can use and they're pretty proud of it.(rightfully so)

If you can't get style rankings I'll be really disappointed. DMC is all about getting that style up. How can I be Dante if I can't Stinger into Million Stab, into Beowulf change, into rising dragon, into Devil Sword Dante change, into Aerial Rave, into Helm Splitter, into Taunt? Followed by a cheeky Kalina Ann missile when the target is just getting up.

I wasnt overly impressed with RE2 minis after seeing them at Salute, seemed soft details and small compared to all other 28mm zombie games.
CMONs latest is doing much for me either, admittedly i have never played the video game so that might be why

I still say they should have reskinned RE2 into a tabletop Dino Crisis game.
The minis with RE2 were decent. A bit on the weedy side, but acceptable overall. They definitely didn't have the chunkiness of some of CMON's minis. Still, I didn't really notice any that were miscast or had mushy details. Really, my biggest complaint about the game is that the boards were really too dark, making their details out from a distance really difficult. DMC shouldn't have too much of an issue, I should think.

I think I’ve decided!
Devil May Cry holds a lot more weight for me than Bloodborne as I’ve played the former and not the latter so even though CMON does make nice PVC minis...
...I think I’ll drop Bloodborne then ‘Wait And See’ on the DMC KS.
(A Dino Crisis game would’ve been ace too though!)

I have been having a lot of fun with RE2. I really like the Bloodborne videogame and I believe SFG can carry over the authentic feel of videogames into board game format. But the RE2 mini and component quality is pretty underwhelming.

Dark Souls has delivered waves 1 & 2, with 3 in the run up to production at the minute, if I remember the last update correctly.
RE2 delivered in full either at the end of last year or the start of this one.
HZD is in progress (didn't back that one, but original delivery date was March 2020)
Dungeons & Doggos - if you're counting that one, which you probably shouldn't - delivered in the last month or two. Cats & Catacombs (again, if you're counting it) only finished a week or so ago.
Critical Role? Looks like summer 2019, following some issues with the initial pre-production casts combined with Chinese New Year.
Godtear? As of the last update post with a schedule, due to deliver around August this year, thanks to some production delays.
