After two and a half months of painting, I have completed my Knight Styrix, the Gladium Empirica (Low Gothic: Sword of Data).

It uses the original House Krast paint scheme from 1997's Epic 40,000:

I learned a ton painting this thing. Including methods for achieving extremely smooth coats, painting white and yellow, layering varnishes, and using water transfers for the very first time. Definitely turned out better than my first Knight.

Great job. The time and effort really shows, a fantastically clean paint job.

That's certainly very cool. Mad love for going way-back for your inspiration.

Did I mention that it was done 100% by brush? Gotta be fast in your work, but patient in how many thin layers you need to apply.

Flipping the shoulders actually gives it a substantially different feel imho.

Looks great.

Yeah. I actually always felt the stock configuration looked really different from what the old school Knights had going for them. So I used the hot salt water trick to bend the plates a bit wider and mounted them on some sprue bits that I attached to the shoulder.

What have you got planned next, another knight?

Got some Kataphrons and Ironstriders that I need to build and paint. Then maybe another Knight, perhaps my Castellan. Lol.

Yeah. There are some gorgeous, vibrant color schemes in Epic 40k. Sad that most of those Houses didn't make it into the codex.

Beautifully done, great work! The colors are really striking and eye catching the way you have done it, really nice.
