I didn't notice if anyone reported it or not, but the JPY price has been circulated. Expect retail to be ¥11,000. Looks like Japanese preorders should be up by 10/5.

Price is about what I expected. I was hoping it'd be a bit less since there's no die cast or anything to really bump the price that high. It's just kinda big. Size expected to be about 8". Here's hoping that by the time I get to go to Japan, I'll be able to snag one on markdown.

Also, chibis should be releasing around November.

So that’d be around 90-100 Euro? Going to pass on this, I think.

I was expecting it to be closer to $80; I imagine there were people on the fence that were kind of wanting it but debating the purchase but now will definitely pass.

It’s a nice piece, but I’m not terribly patient when it comes to stuff like this.

The issue here is GW's release model is preview a week or two in advance and then release. I can only see people being disappointed with this kind of lead time.

It's not a GW product, though. It's a Bandai product and that's actually shorter than their typical lead time.

Indeed for a Bandai preorder that's swift

Edit: and note Bandai will be making a few to sell themselves (I wonder if the total production planned is a round 10,000), so there's a chance you might get one that way from a store (well in Japan or the USA, i'd have my doubts in Europe)

Same for Figuarts or whoever, how long has the wait for Dragonball Z figures been now? So do we see this pre-order selling out quickly?

Eh Kickstarters do really well and they have longer and more uncertain lead times so yeah Q2 of 2020 isn't a bad target for most.

The main issue is going to be the high price for a luxury item that only has 9000 products worldwide. I can see those selling out REALLY fast and that's without resellers jumping in to get some of the stock for resale.

I think if you want one its going to be sitting there with your finger on F5 on Saturday ready for that launch time and then crossing your fingers you get into the line fast enough.

It's not GW its Bandai and it sounds like its basically running like a Kickstarter with the goal being 9000 units on order. Basically its a huge preorder and once the order is full it goes into production. Early 2020 isn't a bad date either for a product to go from concept model into a full production run.

Judging by their image / diagram, you order, it's produced in Asia and then shipped to customers.

So they left out the bit where customers in the UK (post Brexit) and the EU will have to pay couriers' handling / admin fees and then an additional VAT / Tax of approximately 25% of the value of the entire order.

Should be fun!

I don't think that's going to be an issue,

the 9000 (or less if it goes badly) units ordered via GW are going to be shipped to GW or GW in Europe or the USA depending on where the buyer is and then sent on from there

although that's not to say the container with the stuff for the UK might have to wait a long time for a customs inspection before actually getting in if things go badly Brexit wise

Not like Kickstarter, no. They're producing 9000 units, the rest will be for sale on release if they don't sell out during pre-order. This is how Bandai and pretty much every high end collectible company has done pre-orders since internet shopping became a thing, way before Kickstarter was a thing. We're not funding a project, we're buying a product that's already in the early stage of mass production.

Not sure what to think, really. It's a high-priced collector piece and while i'm glad to see some high quality GW merchandise being made, I do sort of wish that they'd instead gone for a brand that would have made them a bit more accessible and easily expandable to figures of other stuff. The figure itself looks great though (even though I really dislike Primaris Marines), the colour choice is a bit uninspired but Ultramarines are the most iconic chapter so i can understand that.

I assumed this would have been something that would be available in shops for at least while but it seems it's more of an exclusive limited thing than I expected and it might not even get that far. Is 9000 a reasonable number for this sort of thing worldwide? How does that compare to other Figuarts stuff?

Where did you see that they'll be sent to GW first? I can't see that mentined on the Community article about it.

Nice-looking, disappointing it's Primaris (yes we've known about this for months, but still) and horribly overpriced, not to mention buying one encouraged GW to continue their present practices. Hard pass.

What "present practices" are you talking about?

I'm making an assumption that they're going to go via GW simply because they don't mention you'll be responsible for taxes etc which they'll need to do if the marines are going to be shipped to individuals direct from Bandai's factory

now I might be wrong and we'll see the warning when the pre-order comes up but i'd be surprised

If nothing else, I'd expect the free shipping to a GW store for pick-up to be an option.

Why are you guys complaining? It's like P-Bandai, but it will be strictly at Games Workshop/Warhammer. If an American like me wants a Dom-Gyanko or a Calamity War Gundam Flauros on the other hand.....

Both of those are available from Big Bad Toy Store, aren't they?

Prepainted as Ultramarines. Painting action figures is generally fairly hard to over the joints, but you may be lucky here as you don't need to repaint the piping on the joints I imagine, so you could mask it and focus on the other areas for the most part.

The tricky bit will be how hard disassembly is for priming, which is hard to tell at this point.

You can generally strip toy tampographs with rubbing alcohol and a cotton bud.

Platunan- that site had neither of those. Either way, I was talking about how Bandai makes a bunch of a 'limited number' world-wide while any Gunpla/Figuarts are can only be bought in Japan/China. I'll leave it at that since it is slowly becoming off topic.

Phazer-that's going to hurt sales a little bit. I thought it would be like the Warhammer Day POP! Marine....

They're sold out, but:

My point being, there are generally ways to get them in America.

So... not much different to a lot of GW releases these days. The only real difference is that they're telling us how many are being made.

My Painting Blog: http://gimgamgoo.com/
Currently most played: Silent Death, Xenos Rampant, Mars Code Aurora and Battletech.
I tried dabbling with 40k9/10 again and tried AoS3 - Nice models, naff games, but I'm enjoying HH2 and loving Battletech Classic and Alpha Strike.

I was thinking of just ordering it when it's available on the UK site and deciding if I really want it later, but is it something that can't be cancelled? The terms and conditions say you normally get 14 days to return it once it gets to you, buy then they say later on that items that are "made to order" don't count.

Also very unclear on if there's a possibility of customs charges and such with this item.
