Statuesque Miniatures

Ok. We're all set. The Kickstarter launches on Tuesday! It's not a massively long campaign, so tell everyone! Your friends, your family, even your enemies - maybe they just need tiny metal toys in their lives and will forever more be much better people!

You'll be able to grab the full set of miniatures or choose from smaller sets in any combination. There will also be a very limited number of hand-finished (by me) sets just like the miniatures in the photos. The perfect labour-free gift for yourself or someone you love. Awwww.

Such a characterful set. Might pick up one or two to have a rest from painting toy soldiers, simple toys instead.

I like them as art, but not so much as toys.

Thanks for posting this Orlando!

Thanks! I designed the miniatures with tabletop gaming, painting and collecting in mind, though due to their small size they're definitely not suitable for small children.

The Left at the Bottom of the Garden Kickstarter is now LIVE! So far, I think we're off to a good start. Please do take a look if you think you, or anyone you know, might be interested

All pledges really are much appreciated, as is sharing, commenting and liking on social media and forums.

I'll be back later on with the first painted examples of the miniatures!

These are very sweet. If the limited option is still around at the end of the week, I think I may go for it. Don't think i'd even paint them, just put them up as is.

Happy to see it already doing so well!

And pledged for the whole set, plus another set of dolls and cat.

It just funded!

I picked up the dolls and cat

Oh, and Andrew's casts are always great, highly recommended!

Oh, very nice.

What leapt immediately to my mind was there's an free add-on for the Plaid Hat Games boardgame Stuffed Fables that adds two new player characters - but they do not provide minis for them. Given the premise is that they are stuffed toys seeking to protect their owner, your project's style would have been an absolutely perfect match.

Very tempted to pick up a set as-is to create a few custom characters, but... maybe something worth considering for potential stretch goals...?

Thanks folks! Much appreciated and I'm blown away to have exceeded the funding goal already.

I managed to get some photos of the first painted figures too - Olive, Clementine and Little Puss (it's easy to know who's who now). Let me know what you think I should paint next.

Backed, I love the aesthetic of these miniatures, they could be cute or eerie or a nice mix of the two.

not my usual type of model but these have something really special about them & bags of character.
I backed for a basic set & an additional pack of rats

Check out my gallery here
Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

They're pretty cute!

I now also have the theme tune to the Poddington Peas stuck in my head.

I had to go and google it, didn't I...

In the latest update, I set Kickstarter alight by talking at great length about preparing metal miniatures.

If it helps one person....

Glad you like them, Tyranid Horde.

The Kickstarter is going really nicely, it's great to see more backers coming on board for some weird wee toys! Many thanks to all the backers.

If your interested, please do take a look at the Kickstarter page. http://kck.st/30BWG2s

I've been painting away and got the rats finished! Here they are, singing their endless songs:

Next up will be the hoodie crows!

These are great little models, I wish I had a use for them.

Best of luck with your Kickstarter, I’m glad it’s being used to make unique items for the marketplace.

Thanks, Theophony. The success of the Kickstarter is really encouraging me to get sculpting and make more odd little projects. We're currently at just over £3000 (hopefully saying that won't jinx it!) and I'm very grateful to all the backers, both for pledging on this campaign and for giving me the impetus to do more different stuff.

I took the opportunity last night to get some photos taken of the figures on some terrain. One day maybe I'll get a whole table painted up like this for the toys to explore...

I also rambled in an update about how folk might use the toys in tabletop gaming. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. It's great to hear them!

Really need to look into the Pulp Alley rules, as we've been looking at these minis, little Lillie Poots already on the shelf and thinking it would make for a great Halloween scenario of sorts.

@BrookM: You should, it's a great game. The quick start 2nd edition rules are free on their website if you want to take a look. The day after the last update I got my 2nd edition rulebook from the recent Kickstarter. I need to stat up the toys!

The Kickstarter continues to grow nicely - I'm very grateful to all backers. It's really heartwarming to have so many homes for these weird little toys to go to. It also means the next batch of toys I sculpt (Chapter 2 in another Kickstarter) can make it through production faster as I won't have to save for printing and mastering. Every pledge really does help.

I've been painting away and have finished the penguin. I'd been looking forward to having him in his black and white glory. The painting was very experimental for me, and at several points I thought it was going to be a disaster, but I'm really pleased with the outcome. Not so much my photos but I do try...

I ramble a bit about the penguin in the latest Kickstarter update. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/statuesque/left-at-the-bottom-of-the-garden/posts/2523893

Thanks, OrlandotheTechnicoloured. I've got lots of ideas for future models in this range.

As the Kickstarter enters its final stages, by popular demand Little Puss the beanbag cat is now available all on her lonesome as a pledge Add On. I ramble a bit about the inspiration behind her in the latest Kickstarter update: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/statuesque/left-at-the-bottom-of-the-garden/posts/2525325

As I said above, the Kickstarter is nearing its end at 11pm BST this Thursday. We continue to make good progress and it's great to see new backers coming on board every day. My sincere thanks to all the backers, and a big thank you to everyone who shares, comments and likes on social media and forums. It really does help!

Right, I better get painting those crows so they're finished before the end of the campaign!

Backed, do I need to do the add ons before the kickstarter finishes or after?

@Tyranid Horde: Thanks! Either is fine. There will be a chance to add more stuff after the Kickstarter.

We're on the final day of the Left at the Bottom of the Garden Kickstarter! It ends at 11pm BST today (Thursday 6th of June). Please do take a look and if you like what you see why not pledge? These figures would have flopped in a major way if released straight into the shop so I'm extremely grateful to all the backers who have made the project worthwhile. I can't wait to get properly stuck into casting and to send the toys out around the world!

Just in time I managed to get the crows finished and with that have now painted the full set of toys!

I think I've enjoyed this project more than any other I've done for Statuesque so to have them all painted and as I imagined them is a great feeling.

I feel duty bound to point out they're actually singing rats - my partner has a wee grumble whenever people refer to them as mice. They're a homage to the three rats she had a few years ago - Daisy, Rosie and Bertie.

But they can be whatever you want them to be! They're toys after all.

Thanks BrookM!

I took a break from spamming social media and forums after the Kickstarter funded (massive thanks to all the backers!) but have not been idle. Lots of casting and preparations so fulfilment goes smoothly.

The Kickstarter Pledge Manager will go live on the Statuesque webstore in a couple of weeks (the exact date depends on when I receive the funds) and non-backers will also be able to place Pre-Orders for the range at this time.

Please note, I do not expect fulfilment of the Kickstarter and Pre-Orders to affect regular, day-to-day Statuesque orders. All webstore orders will continue to be dispatched promptly, as customers have come to expect.

Thanks!

Andrew
