I was really pleasantly surprised. It had great cinematography. Like they really wanted it to look like Man of Steel, but with Clark portrayed as a deeper, more relatable person. I'm not sure I would like it as much if I had watched it before I was a father myself.

So what I heard is that HBO Max is involved with S & L. That they're helping out some with the budget, and then HBO Max will become the home for past seasons. Win-win.

That's nice. Hopefully this doesn't become one of those situations where the end of season one is so bad we're not sure if we even want season 2 XD

Is the same Superman, Lois and Luther from Supergirl?

The same Superman and Lois.

I'm not sure about Luthor though, I think Lex is still doing Supergirl things 'in world.' - Though I haven't seen the show yet.

Looking at the cast list, it might very well being time travel or universe shenanigans and a 'different' Luthor.

I'm kinda sad they recast Sam Lane and Morgan Edge though. Nathan Petrelli as Morgan Edge was great in Supergirl Season 3. However, both of them can easily be explained as 'post-Crisis' changes to the world.

It’s definitely not the same Luthor. You get the cliffs notes of his backstory in the second episode.

Spoiler:
He’s from a different Earth where his Superman goes evil and now he’s here to kill this Superman before he does the same thing to this Earth.

Superman & Lois is going on hiatus after episode 5 due to a COVID scare.

In its place we get the final season of Supergirl.

I suppose that was one way of handling Ralph’s actor’s firing from the show.

Fired over ancient Tweets. What a crock of gak.

I wonder how many takes it took to film Ralph's Daft Punk goodbye scene. Surely the other actors wouldn't be able to keep a straight face.

And what was the point of bringing OG Wells back only to have him leave again?

I've not seen the episode yet, because UK. But it's always something I've felt uneasy about.

James Gunn is fired by Disney for the same thing, immediately hired by WB, then eventually hired back by Disney.

I know it's subsidiaries and megacompanies and stuff, but the inconsistency still troubles me some.

On the other hand, maybe there is more stuff behind the scenes. Gunn effectively had an outpouring of affection from his coworkers that influenced his rehiring.

There wasn't the same for Sawyer, if anything, the opposite if I remember right. - Though I could very well be remembering wrongly.

So maybe there was something more behind the scenes... I kinda hope there's something more, to be honest. Cause yeah, it kind of doesn't sit right if there was honest contrition from Sawyers end.

Everyone immediately fell into line, with none other than the series lead, Grant Gustin, releasing a mealy-mouthed non-committal "We support the people blah blah blah" statement that couldn't've been more generic if he tried.

They all abandoned him in an instant, even they didn't specifically or explicitly condemn him. They can't support him because cancel culture loves to splash that tar and feathers around without any regard to whom they destroy.

IDK if anyone cares but the Actor who is playing Mick Rory left halfway through the season. It seems he didnt like it that much.
Leaving us with just 1 of the originals left. 2 if you count steel(I kinda do because he was there from the second season and slotted in so well)

I think it's a little more complicated than that.

I think it's just a stressful time filming a TV show in the middle of a pandemic.

Watching tonight’s episode of Superman, and the scene where he’s working on the suit.

Spoiler:
Me: Man, this is weird. It’s very Steel-esque with the way he’s doing this and the daughter. I wonder how people will feel about them putting Steel’s story onto an alternate earth Lex.

2 minutes later.

Our database matches him to a dude called John Henry Irons.

Me: Oh, ok, That’s how they’re playing this.

Superman & Lois, despite it's oddly awkward title, manages to go from strength to strength with each episode.

This one was another stand out, and with a really cool reveal. The only downside was that David Ramsay directed it, but was't in it. I miss Diggle.

Man, they’re really going all in with fake exits from the show this season of Flash it feels. Frost goes to jail, promises to serve her time and stay there, big emotional thing with Kaitlyn. Next episode she stops a jailbreak and gets let out for good behavior. Iris is having some issue and has to be kept quarantined and away for awhile until they’re able to solve it and Barry gets all sad an emotional. Next episode she’s back, oh yeah he was able to fix me it turns out. They do a couple episode build up to Sisco moving away and leaving. Whole big good bye thing. That one lasted a couple episodes but he’s already back again.

A significant necro, but it's new information and really not worth a thread if it's own.

The BBC have just started trailing Superman And Lois to debut next Saturday evening.

Really surprised with this, thought Channel 4 would have picked it up if Sky passed, but no adverts is always a plus.

Its the CW curse, as Aunt Z once observed "Something that supposedly changes everything, but in truth, nothing changes. Everything just resets."

Something half decent on BBC1 on Saturday night ? Inconceivable

I watched the first episode of the new season of Flash but I think I’m just checked out at this point. I think after how excellent the Marvel shows are the CW DC stuff is just too campy. Except Superman, that one was pretty good and I’ll definitely hit up the next season of that when it comes around.

I don't think that the problem is the campiness. It's that it (Flash) just isn't very good. And hasn't been for awhile.

I think the Arrowverse stuff is very much written for the CW target demographic, and is still trying to teach a lesson every week about some self actualising gak or friendship or doing the right thing or whatever.

This is always going to hurt it when viewed by people outside of the target demo who likely have enough life experience to feel a bit patronised by it.

The MCU stuff seems to know it's talking to a broader audience and consequently, while not immune to that, is also tackling bigger more grown up things and doing so in a way that doesn't smack you in the face because they're aware they don't need to hold their whole audience's hand through everything.

See I feel like once Riverdale blew up, CW started transitioning their shows to be a bitore like that. First few seasons of arrow, flash and supergirl where good.
Bit now it's mostly based around Drama I feel and less about the superheros

Nah, pretty much once Oliver stopped removing names from his Dad's list and decided to add green to the whole ensemble it's been on a gradual slide.

Which is not to say it's all terrible, except Batwoman, just that if you're outside the demographic you just have to make allowances.
