Man those Orks look amazing! I almost feel as if I should just pack up and quit trying to do more Skinners for Vanguard Miniatures.

But yeah, really inspiring stuff.

Well, all the Krieg KT talk made me dust off my Valour Korps prints and actually finish some ^^. You might remember the first test I did, back then, using the dress WWI french uniform as a base:

I do still like this for the officers, but with all the blue of the official Krieg paintjob I decided to change the troopers to a more olive drab tone (...and yeah, then they showed the green scheme xD):

Spoiler:

And the complete command squad, with and without the officer:

Nice work, I have always liked the Death Korps in blue, but that muted drab really does look the part, and the accent colours set it off well.

Thanks! I'm pretty happy with the end result, too. Currently the idea is olive drab for troopers/subofficers and dress blue/reds for officers. Dunno what I'll do if I ever paint a commissar xD.

Um Black of course....or Grey/Black. With Medics in White so the enemy knows not to shoot them as they are non-combatants

They're looking super sharp tho! Solid sculpts / prints as well. Dig that in-scale plasma gun, but really the dude who brought the jello mold is the best

Lately I've been doing some remodelling at home, so the printers mostly went unused, but this week I got them out again.

And since it was some time since I did something big-ish, I decided to print Anvil Digital Forge's absolutely outstanding amphibious APC kit:

The presupports are magnificent, and the ways they've gone to reduce weight and hence the amount of resin needed for the kit is incredible:

As you can gather, it was not a small kit: it took three full Pro 2 plates to print.

But boy, does it look sweet:

And after a bit of priming...

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I also printed a Leviathan Dreadnought for a friend...

...well, actually, I printed two, because I had two different models and my friend wanted a Salamanders one with al melta-flamers, so at first I tried to print one model, which had much less parts and was less detailed and poseable, with the melta armas... but the arms didn't really fit the other, so I ended printing both and kept the simpler one.

This one:

And this is my friend's

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Then I fired up the fdm printer and made some extra shelve supports for an Ikea's Detolf glass cabinet:

And then I printed some colonial marinorks:

"Da killier the prey, da bigger we get!"

And oh boy , are they right xD

Nice!

you need to do an alternative version of the amphibious thingy as a civilian "duck tours" version bonus points for tourists being included!

I love the Colonial Marine orks. Have you read a book called Grunts! by Mary Gentle? If not, then you really should

Nice batch of printing I've got a few multi-plate tanks I'd like to try some time, but I keep chickening out on (that and I need to replace my FEP for the first time, really gnarly and I think is underexposing all my prints into goop).

AWESOME orks O_O

That's a certain possibility. There's even one version of the thing with the "duck" boat face ^^

I love the Colonial Marine orks. Have you read a book called Grunts! by Mary Gentle? If not, then you really should

I know of it, but I haven't really read it. I have, however, read the Damned Trilogy, by Alan Dean Foster, where humans are basically orks in the sense that they're the single known race that thrives in combat. It's pretty interesting.

FEP replacing is easier than you think, you won't have a problem . And yes, multi plate prints are... a thing ^^. I guess we could always get a bigger printer, but... eh xD.

AWESOME orks O_O

I know, right? I do love them.

warboss wrote:Looks cool! I'd have thought that was an ogre if the ears were shaved down.

Well, they're ogryn size, so they would most certainly work as IG ogryn count-as... which is probably what I'll do xD.

I ended up printing a full colonial marinork section, except for one half of the tactical team (the AFV driver) and the full support team (the pilot and the crew chief of the dropship). But it will do for now

Tactical team (sergeant):

Section A, Fireteam 1 (Rifle Team):

Section A, Fireteam 2 (Gun Team):

Section B, Fireteam 1 (Assault Team):

Section B, Fireteam 2 (Gun Team):

By the way, six of these nine are multipart ^^. And I haven't even used the running and kneeling poses!

And lastly, I printed a five-man squad at 70% scale to see if they'd work at "regular" 40k scale:

And I'd say they would work pretty well at that scale: they're taller than regular boyz, but it's mostly the pose, and the proportions are less cartoonish, but still pretty cool:

Papsikel was kind enough to provide lychee files of everything alongside their regular supported and unsupported files... which meant that to resize the supported models I only needed to resize them, select all the supports (they're places in the same places of the mini, but as the raft doesn't change, the rest of the supports get wonky) and redo them... and voila, redone. That was fantastic, and saved me a whole ton of time

Oh, also: These are all printed at a "coarse" layer level of 50 microns: if I end up using the small ones I'd reprint them at 20 microns. These are just tests ^^.

Looks great. I really like what I assume is the sergeant with the cigar. Can you select the weapon and delete it to replace it with something more close combat? The more I look at them the more they remind me of the mercs from the Fifth Element. I hope those weapons don't have a red button!

Well... yes and no ^^

There are five complete poses that are non-poseable (the five resized above):

and then there's a set of multiparts:

As you can see, there's a modular head with cigar, but also helmet... but this is just the first set, and they said there were going to be more.

Yesterday I printed a Background holder for photos (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3638751):

I also printed the 5 default ugoks again at 20 microns and 70% to maybe use them as a kill team, and I took photos with the new booth:

So far, so good ^^

I then did a comparison pic with the 20-microns print and the 50-microns one:

And a size comparison with a Vostroyan sergeant:

Thanks for the review / testing of the kit, thinking about picking it up for Kill Team purposes as well. Honestly the Aliens-ness of it is the main thing holding me back, but it's easy to think of them as just differently-/better-designed space orcs and embrace it.

Thanks for the rundown! I saw they're offered now individually through their MMF store. Can you check to see if the weapon on the sergeants back (the tommy gun) is a separate shell? Or did they combine it all into one when autofixing the models for errors.

Unfortunately the second, it seems. At least with the regular Windows 3d builder it shows as a single mesh without ungroup options.

Also, printed 10 modular orks at 70%. heads and some details printed at 20 microns, rest at 50.

Other test done, this time with one of the multiparts, rescaled at 70% again and with a 32mm base. Also, a bit more clasically "orky":
