I am *very* new to Custodes and so far have the following models based on what I have read of what others are using. I would like to get some feedback on it currently and ideas of where to go with it in the near future.

The Guardian Spears are primarily meant to hold mid field objectives while running every turn forward. IG are obviously there for 5CP and to hold backfield objectives and deny deep strike. If need be one can run as a screener first turn in front of the Dawn Eagles. Dread, Dawn Eagles and Tanks are obviously meant to just lay down a field of fire (and the eagles to move up field to deny objectives and draw lots of fire).

I don't play custodes so take this with some salt, but that looks like a super nasty list. Only change i would make is to try and fit in a single storm shield guy in each custode squad. Being able to allocate things like lascannons and aeldari lances to the dude with a 3++ will add an extra layer of durability, which is super crucial on such a low model count army.

Edit: either way this a tough list, not one I'd bring to a local pick-up game lol

That is actually really good advice, I will see if I can squeeze some points to do that. Worst case I can drop the Psyker to try to fit those points. I have him just for one chance to deny something nasty

Also, thank you, I've been trying to observe what people are talking about in the Custodes tactics forum, as well as a few bigger tourney results, combined with the minimal custodes I currently have.

That's probably a good idea to shave points. A second company commander wouldn't be too much of a downgrade and I'm pretty sure custodes have a few strats for dealing with psychic powers.

And you're welcome! I'm rather new to this edition so i don't post a whole lot, but we should all share what little wisdom we have. It will only make the community stronger as a whole.

I definitely think you're on track to compete in the tourney scene. Best of luck to you!

I am just starting Custodes so take this with a GIANT grain of salt. but I can't see spending 50+ points per model on any CC focused unit (guardians) that have no movement buff... How do you get them into CC? Guardian shooting is less than stellar for their points.

Two of them will be deep striking most likely right into melee with the Vex, or "close" to objective marks for ObSec + charge. If it turns out I'm running into problems with them getting to places after a playtest or two, I will turn one of the tanks into a transport. (If opponent didn't screen back field objectives well, they will be coming in there to disrupt and take points of course).

Primarily IG hold backfield objectives and use mortars. Guardians hold mid field objectives deploying on the forward line, or DS'ing in. I don't think with the tanks, bikes and dread on the table, people are going to spend much effort shooting at them, especially with -1 to hit from the banner? That is my current thought

So I got a chance to play them, and I think the list did really well.

My opponent was playing Deathwatch with a few sub-optimal choices for units (multiple dreads) and a drop pod filled with a gun line that focused my IG).

I won because I played the points mostly and my opponent was a static gun line. I lost a tank really hard to hell blasters and almost lost a second. The Custode dred is nice, but... not as amazing as I think people make it out.

I did learn the dawneagles really don't hit hard. I was expecting them to do better against armor, but they really need to focus on elites and heavy troops (and objectives), not armor.
