Subject: Battle Bunker 2021 UK 40k Championship: Round 5 Incursion Results and Standings
Now entering it's 4th year, the Battle Bunker UK40k Championship is a year long championship played over 10 rounds with a free invitational final in December for the top 32 players.
The format is simple, each round is a stand alone 1 day/2day tournament however players will score championship points depending on their finishing position in each round they enter. After 10 rounds the 30 players with the highest championship points get invited to the end of year final to find the 2020 UK40k Champion.
The championship is run using standard 40k rules, 2000pts armies and CA2019 Eternal War missions.
All this takes place at Battle Bunker, the North-East's premiere tabletop gaming venue where quality not quantity matters. With space for 44 players each on an individual 8x4 table with stunning themed scenery this is how tournament gaming should be.
Round 1 is the 1st of 4 two day events and takes place Feb 1st-2nd.
Round 4 took place on Saturday and was the last 8th ed tournament at the Bunker. Another amazing day, fantastic competitors, some gorgeous armies and all played in the UK's top gaming venue.
28 players took part Round 4, up from 24 in round 3.
1st #NEW40K event is Saturday 1st August and I can't wait.
Round 5 of the Battle Bunker UK40k Championships took place today and was the 1st 9th ed tournament at the Bunker. 26 players turned up( 2 drops) in what was another amazing day at the Bunker.
Biggest take away from New40k is that visually it looks like a wargame again. None of the conga line crap and bubble wrapped castles. It was really nice seeing stuff move all over the board.

Confirmation of why no-one should listen to Kanluwen when it comes to the IG - he doesn't want the IG, he want's Kan's New Model Army...

Any serious point you were trying to make is unfortunately lost due to the way you posted it.
It looks to me there is ample space between tables and from the pictures from the latest Tournaments conforms to current Local Authority advice for Venues so if your scale is 1 being the lowest irresponsible and 10 being the highest, I will go for 1

Aye, gotta say my first thought was a 40k tourney at this point in time!. But to be fair looking at the photo's they are probably less packed than those restaurants and pubs which have been allowed to re-open and are following health guidelines. I can think of far worse things going on than this.

I doubt that - look at the whole room shot below the results on the last post, and zoom in - note anyone wearing a mask?
Even ignoring the proximity to your opponent during a single game - which is likely to exceed the exposure/range duration (I believe 15 minutes within 6 feet?) - you've got 26 people (plus staff and TO) in an enclosed space for a prolonged period.
Is it as bad as venues in the US running tournaments? Well, Sunderland is arguably less risky at present, but I know I'm not alone in being disappointed in anyone running or attending a tournament at the present time - let alone running three within a month, which is heading towards the height of lunacy.
While I hope everyone is safe, I wouldn't be surprised if something went wrong.

Which is probably far safer than restaurants and pubs etc, where many more people will enter an enclosed space for a long period of time, also not be able to keep a mask on all the time. That is probably far more likely have someone infected arrive and breath virus and infect others later.
Yet we are being given govt back discounts to go and eat out.

I didn't want to get involved in any covid discussions and I'm not here to try change anyone's mind but just for clarity this is what I've done to put these tournaments on.
Safety of my my customers and myself is my top priority.
I have a big place, a really big place with 2 floors.
I have a much reduced number of tables.
I have 12 tables downstairs and 4 upstairs.
I've spent over £10,000 refurbing the place with covid at the forefront of the refurb.
Each table is 8x4 and each table has 2 side tables.
Only models, dice and rules are allowed on the table...cases etc go on side tables.
There is nearly 3.5 meters between each table.
people must wear a face covering when entering the shop and when shopping or going to the toilet.
At the table they don'e have to wear one as social distancing can be maintained also I do serve drinks and snacks.
Hand sanitiser is readily available and must be used often.
I have a max of 32 people in my shop and even then the place feels positively empty.
I have everyones details should they be needed.
I have no staff, there is just me.
I have followed council advice all along the way and have been pro active in seeking advice from the local trading standards in relation to holding tournaments. If the advice I receive changes then I will implement whatever changes are required.
And finally I'm 47, my wife is 49 and we have 2 wonderful daughters who have Grandparents and a Great Grandad who is 100 next year. I don't want this virus anymore than the next guy but I also have a business to run and keep alive and I will do everything in my power to ensure that and that means making my place as safe as possible and following all guidance be that local or central Government.
Stay safe,Jus

The Battle Bunker 2021 UK40k Championship kicked off again Saturday with the 1st Incursion qualifier.
Another mint day and probably the smoothest event I've ever ran with no dramas even tho it was the 1st where I've introduced clocks (and I've ran over 100 at the Bunker now).
Results and pics:
The 1st Strikeforce qualifier takes place on the 19th and that's already a 50 player sell out.

The 1st Strikeforce qualifying tournament took place on Saturday. 50 tickets sold, 44 turned up and made it another mint, plain sailing day at the Bunker. Clocks were once again used and once again all games finished on time. If any TO's are reading this then invest in clocks...best thing I ever did and players love them once they played with them(in tournament settings).
Round 2 qualifies are Incursion 3rd July and Strikeforce 17th July
Incursion round 2 took place yesterday. The England game took it's toll but still 25 players turned up and another mint day was had. Clocks are really starting to shine and the whole event was finished an hour ealier than planned!
Strike Force Round 2 takes place on the Saturday 17th July.
