I recently got my forgeworld contemptor achillus dread. It's not really good on the tabletop, but I think it's one of the best models in the custodes range. I wanted to make a cool, dynamic pose that looks like he's about to swing his spear down on some heretics, which proved really difficult. I've built custodes dreads before, but there are so many parts and working with super glue does not make it any easier. I got around this a bit by assembling the model only using green stuff initially. Then I took a sharpie and marked multiple joints on the armor so when I put it together with super glue, I knew the position and angle in which to place the part.
All in all I am really happy with the result, but I'll let you be the judge:
(disclaimer: the base is a custom resin base from dragon forge design, I did not make it myself!)
I'll give updated when I get around to painting, but that might take a while.

I like it and you got the feet looking natural, I find that to be the hard part. I magnetized the waist of my first Telemon and I wonder if it’d be worth doing that when I try one of these.
I’ve heard they’re pretty meh in game, are they that bad?

Reagarding magnetizing the waist: for what purpose did you magnetize the waist of your telemon. Magnetizing the weapons I get, but why the waist? Just curious.
And yes, the achillus is really not that great in game. He has 4 very strong attacks with his spear, but thats it. The problem with custodes in general is that you have so few models on the field that every attack needs to do something. I mostly play against my friends who play necrons and tau respectively and against both armies the achillus does absolutely nothing. He can't kill necron vehicles because of quantum shielding and the can't kill a high value target like a squad of destroyers because he only has 4 attacks and against tau he does absolutely nothing because of shield drones. So yeah, even if you manage to charge high value targets you probably won't get your points back and your achillus will most likely be shot off the board in the following turn. You are also sort of forced to spend a command point to play him in deepstrike because he has no business footslogging across the board with his 5++ unless you want so sacrifice him as a distraction carnifex, which I really hate to do, because you might as well not play that cool model at all, cause he won't survive a turn footslogging towards the enemy.

Two things, posing and ease of transport. I use stackable plastic crates for storage and transport so being able to split him in half lets me use the same crate as my infantry. I’m going to get another and being able to swap torsos means I can vary poses (yes I’m a giant nerd).
How tough is it to pose the arms up like that? Do you have a lot of clearance?

Got it, thats pretty smart actually.
Yes it's quite difficult to pose the arms up like that. Every pose that requires a model to hold something with both hand is quite difficult when you have to work with resin, because you are stuck using super glue which sets quite fast and in turn does not leave you much wiggle room when posing the arms. Not sure what you mean about clearance...between the arms as they are posed and the torso?

Just wanted to also share my galatus I've recently built. Was going for that classic sword and shield pose where the combatant holds his sword at the side of his shield, ready to strike or block.
I think I like that sculpt even more than the achillus and that's saying something:

That’s kinda the perfect pose, I also didn’t realize how awesome that shield looks.

So I've been working on my galatus and I wanted to post my progress.
When I made the previous picture the head and the top were only held in place by green stuff so in this wip picture the head is still missing and the only thing finished is the sword, of which I am quite proud:
edit: forgot to add the pictures..

Still very much WIP (especially the shield and shoulder pad) but it's starting to take shape.
C&C very much welcome, let me know what I can do to improve this:
Should I do a lightning effect for the Galatus Warblad like with this custodian guard I did? Or should I leave the Galatus sword as it is
