If 90% of your followers and funding comes from one source, after a century or so of natural (and a little unnatural) attrition and promotion from within, the difference will be basically undetectable without specialised instrumentation.

Where are these minis from?

I think I bought 3 sets of them. Maybe 4. Combined with the 2nd generation Orlocks and Cawdors you got so many weapons for kitbashing.

Those really lack the charm of the originals-really bland/ugly sculpts to my eye. Wasn’t this about the time frame the first redone aspect warrior sculpts came out? GW got pretty inconsistent in quality then.

Fairly certain those come from the tail end of the 'let's kill Specialist Games' era at GW. A lot of the Fanatic Games output back then looked like it was made after hours, in a dark, forgotten cupboard, away from the prying eyes of Great Lord Kirby.

And I'm not even sure Kirby was in charge in 2003

This was when specialist games were trying to rejuvenate a lot of lines with crisper detail and more modular kits.

IMHO the high collar armor was pretty nice, but a lot of the SG models of this era were just not very good, with kinda weird limbs and poses. Regarding inconsistency, I think like with FW SG was budgeted differently, the same way a lot of the BL special edition sculpts in this era weren't very good.

The problem with having a hot lit brazier right on top of your head without any apparent insulation or cooling system is the heat cooking your brain.

I am speaking for real, as RL patients who have survived horrible burns or fires sometimes have cognitive difficulties due to their brains being essentially partially cooked from the heat.

Fake flames or good heat isolation material/chemical underneat. In the 21st century we have the flaming hand party trick and flame retardant racer suit. By the time of the 41-42 millennium they probably would have invented some new tricks to the party.

In age of sigmar there are literally a naked mortal dude engulfed in flame.

Lol. Like, wearing what is effectively platemail and charging across the battlegrounds into hand to hand combat with swords, maces, flails etc. Ah, the benefits of 40 thousand years of advancements.

Currently most played: Silent Death, Mars Code Aurora, Battletech, Warcrow and Infinity.

I’d think in lore terms plate mail must be like paper compared to even flak armour though.
But the melee aspect sure

Getting hit in the flesh by a 2 handed hammer is more devastating than getting shot from a Dum Dum round or plasma shot would prove you otherwise. Even the cheapo Fighting knife can pierce carapace armor. Clearly some of these weapon aren't the same one as they were 40000 years ago. while some remain questionable garbage like club.

Also assuming the worst type of armor just block off every melee attack, aside from enforcer subjugators (and maybe Van Saar), most fighters are not fully armored, and have exposed body parts everywhere, being stabbed or smacked in the exposed face, armpits, thighs, abdomen, back.... would work just fine. If it worked and it's cheap (or free), then there're no reason not to use it, even though the "advanced weaponry" options do exist.

This post has destroyed the carefully maintained realism of the Necromunda setting.

I'm done with this BS game.

This aside - if this is a gas burner (which the face guard/fuel lines imply) - he's essentially got a bunsen burner on the top of his head with an un-premixed flame. Which will look cool, but as you can see from the video below, won't heat up the burner itself very much

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in9BGz958jg

The "brazier" arrangement keeps his face in shadow from the flame, so he shouldn't be getting too much thermal radiation. The thing's going to get hot if you have it burning all day, but then you've got the problem that you're carrying around a massive gas cylinder.

Also, it's mental. This trumps science.

He's already carrying a flamer... a little canister to feed his hat is unlikely to change his overall outlook (explodey, mixed with some light fragmentation, news at 6)

More a problem with weight. I guess you can also use the gas to power the pilot light - even as a Redemptionist a Napalm Hat is unlikely to be the cleverest idea.

Though from on of the Redeemer comics online, somebody does appear to be pouring coal into Klovis' hat. But this was written by Pat Mills, who is deeply crazy.

Anyway - looking forward to seeing the full range.

You mean in the darkest recesses of the underhive, it might not be the best idea to wander about with a literal flaming sign saying "here is my head, please shoot it"

oddly enough could work better vs van saar and enforcers who likely make use of different heat sensing and low light visors to shoot well, as the bloom from it could make your head harder to actually pinpoint.

In fact it turns out that pretty much anyone is blinded if they suddenly looks into an open fire after being the dark.

Nice. I wonder if they used the digital resources from the tactical game for this as well, or if they had to start from scratch.

I just hope its a bit open world and not just a rail-road shooter. Skyrim or Borderlands instead of Sniper franchise.

Heck I tried Sniper 3 you are almost not playing a game but rather just going through the motions of whatever the game tells you to do. You get a few moments with limited choices and you have to aim the gun yourself, but that's about it.

Nothing like the fun of say Hitman where the actual aiming is only part of the game and getting into position is a huge element.

I quite like the look of the parlour stuff. Looks very titanfall to me, and that was a hugely entertaining romp. The giant robots helped there though.

I might be looking too much into this, but I believe that we get to choose the gender of the main character, which I'm always in favour of in these types of games.
