Reading that conversation I would have said the same.
I’ve got loads of flagellants and seem to remember them not being huge. Been a while since I’ve held a Necromunda model, but I must say this surprises me

Yeah, you are right. What I meant was, a campaign is not needed in this book. At least not a new 3x7 campaign (we got more than enough of those already). It could perhaps have a reprint of Dominion campaign. What we really need is a proper campaign, but there's no chance GW will make it at this point.
Define "proper campaign".

Counter measures to snowballing effect instead of winner-takes-it-all. Income tax. Underdog XP bonus and giant killer bonus. Quantities of XP is higher than money. No requirement to have arbitrator (can still be optional). And very important: Gang management (ie. swapping weapons). I've seen fresh players trying to get a vanilla campaign started, and see it derail from first second.

Since GW arists were heavily influenced by 2000 AD the probabable route is from catholics to Torquemada's henchmen in Nemesis the Warlock in 2000 AD and then to Necromunda

It's more than that. Since Paul Bonner created both Nemesis and then shortly afterwards The Redeemer (and likely had a lot of influence on the Redemptionists overall), and has said that he drew inspiration from the Inquisition and the KKK (and likely more besides but those two specifically), it's not really questionable.

/edit - Pat Mills, it was Mills that created all those, along with Wagner etc, not Paul Bonner.

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, a reprint of the Dominion campaign would be fine. I just think if you don’t give new players a taste of campaign play they will move on to other games, as the campaigns are really what make Necromunda/Mordheim compelling to most people I have met or spoke to.

As someone who has never played a 'skirmish' (non-campaign) game of mordheim, necromunda or gorka morka - ever - I couldn't agree more.

Scotland, but nowhere near my rulebook

Yup, the base rulebook not having a campaign or trading post in it is a HUGE oversight.

And generally I agree on what a "proper" campaign would be, but what is a "3x7" campaign?

Gang War 1 was originally intended to be included in Underhive but it wasn't done in time to make the cut for what would be in the box. It was released the same day as Underhive so anyone who wanted to play a campaign had it as an option.

The current Rulebook includes a campaign (Dominion), so does Uprising, and I would assume Hive War will as well.

I just spent 10 minutes on a response that would do justice to this level of GW apologism and wouldn't get me a ban but alas it's not possible.

It's not "apologism". I'm just stating the facts of what happened. It was definitely unfortunate that it wasn't in the box but the Underhive rulebook did also include a rudimentary linked game campaign suitable for people who only had the contents of the box itself.

edit: So I did misremember a bit, in fact Gang War 1&2 were originally one book that got split up. So if you were already into Necromunda before Underhive, you would have been able to just buy that and Underhive was suppose to be a stand alone box game all along. Not the decision I would have made either but that is what happened whether that's "apolgism" or not I don't care or know.

All 3 major campaigns follow the same blueprint of 3 phases with a total of 7 cycles. So much so that rules compilations have them summarized in tables.

The problem is we don't need yet another botched campaign. We got more than enough already. And if you really wanted, you could pretty much reverse engineer the formula to make infinite amount of campaigns.

Not convinced those are facts. But I am no apologetic either. And here are some facts: the N17 Rulebook was the worst quality book ever released for Necromunda. And that's saying something having almost 15 books for this edition. It was alsonlargely dead on arrival, largely deprecated by GW1.

My bad, I got confused what was in the current rulebook and GotU (I bought both at the same time, and they were the first Newcromunda publications I bought) so I thought the Dominion rules were in GotU.

Trading post not being in the rulebook is still a daft idea though. And given that it's now scattered through at least 4 books, the major one of which will be obsolete by the end of the year, I have no idea what they'll do about that.

No, wait, I DO know what they'll do - publish something else - I just don't know what form it will take.

The funny things to discuss in 2021 is they're still trying to push for 2d Necromunda, and include pretty much worthless wall and column for the new players.

Killteam players like 2d game, so we give Necromunda players 2d game too.

At least the low effort 2d terrain in the new KT box got new and (probably not) exciting rule for the players

The 2D rules for Necromunda are fun though. They make a nice a viable alternative to the standard 3D tall spires old school players were used to.

In other news, I got a shipping notice for the Dark Uprising sets I just ordered. Genuinely thought I was going to get an "Out of Stock" notice.

Definitely. I find the corridors a lot more tense and find myself making a lot of move/counter-move plays a lot more than normal. Had a few games where a ganger held an entrance way for a whole game without shooting a thing. Trying to get in position without exposing yourself. Can I get my flamer to cover the door? Will I do a suicide rush with the Juve to force them to activate and bring up the grenade flinger to mop up? etc etc

Vigo. Spain.

We make a ton of 2D missions (Base attacks, ruin explorations, etc...) and they always make for great games. You only need enough corridors, more open rooms, etc... And you can add some 3D in some rooms, with stairs, second floors, etc... not something too tall but you understand.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

When House of Chains was released they said the Trading Post would become a living document. Plans can change however.

Living document as in "Free" or "We'll sell you this every couple of years"

Also joining in with the 2D is fun crowd - I play both versions, and like them both.

+1 for the 2D 'munda is great chorus. I'd buy reprints of the underhive/badzone tiles in less than a heartbeat.

Gimme a ring when brexit customs chaos dies down, I have 2 underhive and 1 badzone set I'm not using.

It was implied it would be a pdf they could continuously update but since it doesn't exist anything is possible.

Roadmap has been updated, apparently.

I think the only addition is notification that something is coming Q4?

Well, they also removed the placeholder silhouette for the redemptionist and the book replaced them with an actual image.

But having an entry for Q4 is a good plan because some people around here might infer that a blank space means the game is dead and dropped (again).

Redacted sure is a funny word for new edition. It’s been four years and with Delaque’s release the cycle can be considered complete and ready for a new version.

Not that I don't love their meme potential, but those horribly boring new Orlock Champions are already listed as permanently sold out? I don't understand the logic behind that.

This is a bug that has been occurring on forgeworld for a couple of months where products are incorrectly flagged as discontinued once they are out of stock. The FW team will manually change them to just Out of stock as some point.

Now what elite will Delaque get?

I'm hoping for 3 ratlings in a trenchcoat myself.
